The addition of pet/farm animal taming, adding new NPCs, as well as letting NPCs (old and new) wander around has given a whole new life to the base building portion of this game, and it was already substantially better than in any other survival game as it was. With that, plus all the new building materials, new biome, new weather effects, multiple new gear sets for every spec, AND a level cap increase, this update was massive in every sense of the word.
I agree although they took everything from Zelda breath of the wild. So I wouldn't call it better than any other survival game. Zelda BOTW is the best and no other game comes even close.
The game is so damn good so far. The devs have been killing it with the updates. So cool that earlier this year we made requests for features, voted on them, and they’ve been continuing to deliver them to us. Awesome team making this game.
I hope that when they are "done" with their roadmap, they add a seed-based random map mode, using their locations like stamps. And add water with fishing NPC + quests
I think we need some more roof block variety, and the ability to ward off freezing to death by warming up by a fire. Other than that I am very happy with this game. The devs caring about their community is everything.
I kinda want a biome with trees the size of skyscrapers, so I can build a metropolis hidden in the canopy of the trees, with massive bridges connecting them.
They have that in the blackmire. You can even make your own massive trees with the new new materials and stack a couple maxed out basses on top of each other build your own ewok village.
@ the point is they could have released the game without updates and it still would have been better than most games and the updates they are adding to the game arent small fixes and finalizations its 100 hrs of content no to mention how much more there gonna add i cant think of another company that has added this much content to a early access game in recent years
This is good dev practice for EA games, releasing games near polish and having the whole plan ready, just need the time to roll out, give customer the confidence the game will be completed. Unlike some devs using EA games as water testing ground and their customers as lab mouse, even worst money grab or a scam.
I'm loving the new update and the game as a whole, but the lack of in game chat, text or voice, is unforgivable at this point. I run my game open, but can't actually talk to anyone who joins me.
I’ve never played Enshrouded but you could make an online multiplayer Sudoku game sound fascinating so naturally I enjoyed this video a bunch! Great stuff as always
I find it a bummer that there is no water. They have a lava-like surface, but it's not "liquid" like other games have. I totally understand though.. the voxel world doesn't have a lot of options that don't break when you allow people to terraform. Hard to get a smooth "realistic" version of minecraft-like water that doesn't destroy a GPU.
The combat really needs an update. You attack with the same animation through the whole game. Needs some new animations and heavy / special attacks. Also the early biomes need new enemies as you just kill scavengers the whole time
It's been on my wishlist for a while now, but figured I'd jump in with the update, and I'm having a blast with it so far, I hope I can get better at base building, building ended up being one of my favorite aspects in Valheim, but so far.. box with roof is about my limit.
The building mechanic was actually what got me into the game to start with, and I have had it since day one. I really did start out with just 'box with roof', but started cautiously upgrading...then I saw what other people did with their building possibilities and allowed myself to start going nuts. My first big attempt was...um...disjointed and rambling to say the least, but there is possibility there and I may well go back to that base, update it, and make it more actually functional. With the addition of new NPCs who all need a place to stay, I am indulging my building loves and making new cottages, houses, and even an absurdly tall tower to put them all in!
It's crazy that any fantasy action, real time combat is considered souls-like. I wish they would add mounts like horses and maybe even flying mounts. I know there are gliders and grapple hooks, but I do like regular mounts too. Even if it's just an excuse to get another animal in your base and to make another building (stables) for the horses, lol.
The ability to change appearance later on, either with an item, spell, or npc, would be great. Especially if they are going to add more to the character creator.
Hand crafted survival game with crafting, skill tree, open world, difficulty sliders, AND you can play single-player if you want? And it's on sale? Sold.
I bought the game on day of release but was busy with palworld now I just got all my friends on enshrouded and we are excited I’m excited for the farming and taming!
I can't wait to get my hands on Nvidia GeForce RTX 4080 Super Ventus 3X OC 16G, I can afford it next week Monday, which is about 4 days to go. So I pick up the graphics card and start gaming in 4K. I already have my cpu, ram, and storage which is Ryzen 7 7800x3D, 32GB DRR5 6000MHz, 1tb nvme, 2tb nvme and 1tb hdd.
Thanks for the video! This is all pretty exciting. :) I stopped playing a while ago 'cause I just got bored, but this is worth checking out again. It's definitely a fun game, even before all of this.
Optimization is fucking shit in this game. Horrible texture popping, you can see through trees that are outside of the very small LOD, shroud is buggy asf sometimes. They need to fix the visual fidelity of the game. They completely fucked it after launch because people were complaining about 60 FPS on their mid range cards. They need to give a ton more optimization options, especially for draw distance and LOD range.
I've been wanting to play Enshrouded for a while - just for the building. But...never going back to Steam. Ever. Maybe one day the devs will provide more options for those of us who hate Steam. :/
@@LuckyGhost I'm old school. I hate 'renting' anything. Plus after I left Steam years ago, I started getting phishing emails, supposedly from them. The timing was a bit too much of a coincidence. -shrug-
@acflory.writer ive lost a lot more games to a scratched disk than I've lost to steam taking them away( never happened). I think steam will outlive us both so it's never felt like renting. More like free indestructible storage where I don't have to make sure not to lose all my cd keys, or scratch my disks. But to each there own!
Its a cool game but lacks replayability because its the same everytime which is kind of a shame. It was a 1 and done for me, where as with valheim i have done a bunch of different runs.
Is no else really bummed out out by how bad he combat feels in this game? I want to love it, I really do, but that really ruins it for me. They'll never improve if no one complains 😩
While that would be cool, they aren't needed at all. The gliders let you cover insane amounts of area really fast, as well as the fast travel to your flame altars.
They might not be needed but they make more alive and allows you to set up stables etc some people enjoy mounts so you have other ways to explore the world and some people just enjoy the idea of taming loads of creatures so I think mounts is defo needed
A big issue for me is that if i execute a melee attack that would miss, the game picks the next viable enemy and makes me slide towards them to make my attack connect. It feels as if there is a hidden lock on mechanic that drags me all over the place. And about the wand: why does it have to auto aim and wont let me be in charge of missing all those shots?
It's the animation lock. I loathe it. It makes combat so unresponsive. That's where the whole "feel" for combat stems. I truly wish they remove or reduce it to an extent. The action buffer does not help but instead makes it worse. Imagine raising your shield only to pop-up with three second delay. I love the game as well, but my god the animation lock is just too long.
@@Nif-kun It's very weird that they somehow regressed in combat fluidity and responsiveness. Sure portal knights wasn't super deep but it felt really good for what it is. I agree with all your points!

Enshrouded has been my #1 game since I purchased it on a whim during the Steam summer sale in July 2024!!!
Every game should have devs and updates like this

Yes, this. Thank you! I don't see this kind of feedback nearly enough. The game could be so incredible with some improved combat.

5:15 you can set the wander distance of the AI before placing them. If you set 0m they stay exactly where you placed them.
wow they have that now? I like it this way so npc don't look so dead in game. This is a cool addition.
I just desperately want a fleshed out combat pet/companion system and a mode or setting for needing to defend your base and it would be my fav.

You can revert to the old method for the glider in the settings I believe.

Better characters and cool armour sets are needed.
