A similar version of thie by MAx Maven from 20 years ego,using double face prediction card and rest in a repeating stack.
"Shape - Up (Previously Unrevealed) - One card has been removed from as ESP deck. A person is invited to deal through the rest of the pack, turning cards face - up one by one and stopping at any time. The stopped - at symbol is the same as on the card that was previously set aside."

You just need some misdirection when you flip the envelope. Maybe draw attention to the other cards on the table while you do the wrist kill. Just moving them to another place is enough to make the victim look away from the envelope.

Great little effect gaffer.
Would it also work if you followed the traditional 1,2,3,4,5 design stack for the ESP cards. Obviously with the correct symbol drawn on the back?
I will give that a try when I get the chance and let you and others know.
I’m a thick sod, and having them in the usual ESP stack would make life easier.
