*This has LED tail lights (including turn signals)- not combination like I said!* I don't think I mentioned it, but a manual transmission is not available with AWD! Let me know if you'd like to see a Mazda3 Sedan video...thanks and have an awesome day!
I love the color and the black rims. The front and rear styling doesn’t match. The front looks plain, but sporty and the back looks like an low SUV, but looks somewhat decent. I like the interior, looks very comfy. It’s a good car for some people especially the college students. Thank you Nolan for not missing a beat 👍
Fun fact: The Hoffmeister Kink area of the c-pillar is shaped the same as one "side" of the grille. You can see it quite well in this video. The chrome part of the Hoffmeister Kink is the same as the black part of the grille. Where the bumper starts ar the top of the black part of the grille is the same as where the black part of the door trim starts. See it?
Thank for pointing that out because it seems like most people don’t quite get it. “This isn’t a performance oriented vehicle.” In it’s class, it has the largest engine by displacement, and is one of the more powerful choices. I don’t get when say this feels slow as hell, but get into something like an Impreza that has far less hp, and they’re like, “man, this thing is kind of peppy.”
It is more than adequate. My 20 3 hatch gets 0-60 mph in 6.9. If that’s not fast enough there is a turbo for 21. My goodness though I’m at 60 mph by the time I shift out of 2nd gear. I drive 99% city where speed limits are 30-35 mph. So when somebody says the car is slow I wonder if they’re talking about the same car.... if you want a 3 second car go buy a Tesla. High 6s works for me. Turbo is probably going to be a second quicker or so....
Just got one with the top trim in Canada . Most of the stuffs is perfect in the car expect a few things that I think it is missing. 1. passenger seats fan system 2. If there isn’t any fan system at least rear heated seat should be included 3. Remote engine start 4. Softer materials should be applied in the top side of each door (feel so uncomfortable with those soft plastic when placing my hand on it) Tbh these features is not very necessary but it will be great if they fix or add it. Anyway I think it is the best car of its class
Enjoyed your vid mate. I test drove this yesterday (in Australia) and got to use paddle shifters for the very first time (I'm 62 years old). I really liked them, though I bow to your much greater experience. I'm gonna get the AWD CX-30 (friends in high places) early next year when it comes out and I'm looking forward to playing with them. Hope you test that one too.
Thank you very much! Paddles can be fun and come in handy sometimes, very cool! I’m excited to see the CX-30 and I hope you enjoy it when you get it 😁👍
I just bought a leftover 2019. It’s an amazing little car! However, you cannot get heated outside mirrors here in the states! I didn’t know this when I purchased mine, it’s going to be a pain cleaning the moisture or ice off the mirrors.
Always been a fan of the Mazda 3. I owned a first and a second gen hatchback. Mazda knocked it out of the park with this thing. It’s a beautiful, luxurious, fun-to-drive, affordable car. I love the color! That interior is 💯! Wish the red interior was available on the sedan though. I definitely prefer the sedan over the hatchback. Like you said, I’m not a fan of the rear end pillar on the hatch. I really wish Mazda offered the manual transmission on all models including the sedan like they used to. They do seem to have skimped on some features though. Cooled seats and a panoramic roof would be cool options. My money would be on the Premium package sedan.
Very cool...it’s always seemed like a great option going back to the early Mazda3. I’m with you on all of that and I’d also go for that Sedan as well. Appreciate your support as always sir!
@@JoVERICAIN maybe that will change for 2021. Here in the US the moonroof is locked out of all trims but the highest. I’ve heard for 2021 that will be changing....
Nice review. I am considering a Mazda 3 as a retirement car. Usually drive alone so backseat space is not an issue, and mostly suburban driving. Can't decide between the sedan and the hatchback, and between the naturally aspirated engine or the new turbo engine. I'll wait for a review and pricing on the latter.
I like your review... Very good video. Kindly, if you have reviewed a 2013-2014 Mazda 6 before, provide a link to the video ..I'll be more than appreciative to watch it. If not, hopefully it's not too late to do one. It's a beautiful vehicle, especially with a manual transmission.
Interesting about the AC, in Australia we don't get the option for AWD, but do get rear air vents on everything but base. Seems like we Mazda AUS might have put in a better AC unit with the extra space and savings from avoiding AWD.
My 2019 Mazda just about killed me on Sunday... had I been going 60mph I'd be dead from the "automatic bracking" system. Got my recall notice on Tuesday. This car 'technology' is going to kill a lot of people.
@@PrimeAutotainment I go in today to get it fixed so it won't kill me. But I don't trust that already failed technology at all. She said they could show me how to disable it but I'd have to do it every time I started the car. I can't believe Mazda did this!
This has been an issue with other car makers as well, VW and Honda that I recall. Seems like a good feature on paper, and apparently worked well enough during testing for all these different carmakers, but doesnt seem safe to me. There are 3 things that I dont feel comfortable passing off to sensors and computer chips: 1. Steering 2. Braking 3. Engine on/off. I have lane assist and auto braking features disabled on my Mazda 3 turbo hatch (same paint color/interior as this test car) and cant see any reason I'd ever truly need them. Having said that, there are two safety features I can't be without, and thats the rearview camera and blindspot monitoring. Of course it's mostly due to the non-existant rear visibility in the Mazda 3 hatch, but I find both useful in other cars as well....and most importantly, neither of them affect steering, braking or engine.
Very thorough review Nolan. The Mazda 3 looks great in that colour and the interior looks plush. While the hatch is more versatile I think the 3 sedan looks better. Keep up the great reviews :-)
I honestly would've liked cloth seats on the base hatchback. They get cloth seats in Japan, they're so much easier to maintain and they'll look way better give years later. Red cloth like the type r seats have would be so cool if they throw a turbo into the Mazda 3.
I appreciate you watching them all! The snow and ice is the main thing. When you’re really pushing the car accelerating and cornering the AWD helps but practical day to day not much until it’s slippery out
I think this Hatch has a style that makes it unique and I like it. The sedan has it’s own very nice look. My issue with this main stream car is the price and how much more of a vehicle you can buy for over $30K You have to REALLY want this car to and some of it’s faults. Like the A/C feeling weak and NO vented Seats at any price. For example the Hyundai Santa Fe’ SEL PLUS with a few options was the same price as this after deal discounts it came out cheaper. $28K. It;s Quiet and Great ride and handles pretty good and is so much more vehicle for the money. Another Example is the New Palisade or Telluride starts at What that Mazda Stickers at. Thanks Nolan.
Great points sir! I know exactly what you’re saying. In some ways I was impressed..and others it surprised me like witty what you said. Thanks as always!!
All personal choice! For me...I’m not sure I’m willing to get all electric but I drive up and down the middle of the country a couple of times a year with no chargers anywhere near. I’d still go with a vehicle at this point for perceived reliability but that Tesla is very nice!
With the Mazda you have fuel stations everywhere, with the Tesla..if you conk out on the side of the road somewhere, what are you going to do? Can't carry a can of electric out to start the car.
A little funny to me when these guys ding certain things on these cars. This guys actually better about it than most but take cargo space. These cars or for peopl ewho want the efficiency of a sedan with more cargo than a sedan. If they wanted more cargo, theyd be looking in the Crossover space. No ones going to go from one make of a hatchback to another over the mininal difference in cargo. Or they will ding the gas mileage cos it ONLY gets 34 MPG on the highway...with a 2.5 l engine, all cos one or two others get more. And if Mazda made the engine smaller with higher MPG, what would they say? Engines not powerful enough lmao
I hear ya man and I don’t like to dog in any of these cars, just let people know about things. I really like the Mazda3 and really all Mazda’s in general. I made a note about space because it’s smaller than say the Civic hatch. As fir efficiency, considering its compact class, 32 is really low. Granted it’s AWD which is awesome, but I’m currently tearing an AWD Camry which is bigger and has more power that gets 34 MPG when this is still 2 MPg less. Not a big deal but worth noting. Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
freeyourmind88 lmao buddy just go to Mexico and buy it brand new from Mazda for 20k for the exact same car. Did that recently and I have no idea why there’s basically a $15k price difference

Contrast to you, I think the back of a hatchback Mazda3 looks the best , so smooth so round, and aerodynamic that I can’t keep my eyes off of it😍😍😍😍

If this one is like my 2018, turning off traction control will give you full manual control so it won’t downshift when you floor it in manual mode.

Based on sales... I'd argue The Mazda3 is no longer mainstream
Also with the doubling of loyalty discounts you can easily get this below 26 for the manual hatch.
Not everybody wants a huge SUV. This Mazda 3 Hatch is the perfect size. But not exactly a "family car" (Sedan).
