Justin is doing an amazing job with the audio on the fast motion scenes. I love the way you guys have that in your videos over the squeaky fast forward.
Dude, what a honor to get called like that!! Definitely an opportunity you don’t turn down!! Looking forward to videos of King of The Hammers! I’m psyched for you😂😂
Huge props to Rory. Doing compound bends like that is really difficult and a heap of people can't do it! Getting it first shot both times is pretty impressive.
Looks like a good tank, I would have maybe put a baffle or two in in, not because that tank is going to have problems with slosh, but just to help with oil canning, but if you vent it, you won't have to worry about oil canning anyways. What a cool opportunity to run a pit for Shannon, that's a huge deal.
Nope, Mike, Shawn, Rory and Chris like the diesel pusher motor home to stay in as it has better amenities. I don't think their car hauling trailers can fit everything. But Mike's trailer could become the Merch trailer for the vendor events.
_AWESOME DUDES!_ I run a lot of copper tube for central heating in bus conversions, the copper is all on display but when I can hide it I use silicone elbows/straights as shock absorbers and to cheat in confined places that can't be braised. Those solid tube cooling lines are works of art - don't get me started on that fuel tank!
I thoroughly enjoy watching you guys create and build the antique wrecker. Its a very interesting learning experience. Thank You for sharing the process!
Congrats Rory, Shawn, and Mike! Totally happy for you all - what an awesome opportunity to not only be invited by a legend to KOH, but also part invited to participate! Super psyched that Rory gets to work alongside Shannon, who he obviously respects considering he mentioned that he's one of the best fabricators! Have a Happy New Years, Team TrailMater!
Shannons a legend among pioneers of rock crawling and rock racing. His rigs are among the most capable for over 30 years! Itll be great to see you guys working together, have fun! Thanx for real entertainmet!
Cannot stress enough just how enjoyable these documentary videos are to watch; simple, clean and on point without distraction. Metal magic.. building an icon that delights and sparks imagination.
You all are getting so popular that you're going to have to add a extra month to our calendars to have enough time to do it all. 2 months of fun doesn't sound bad at all. Great work on this build. Looking good.
This Trail Mater Team has been working and making Robby's Model A wrecker come to life and its looking amazing! These guys fabrication/welding skills blows us away! Busy schedule coming for 2025 lots of fun and excitement. Good video guys!
YOU BIG BOYS ARE AWESOME! THE THINGS YOU DO WITH YOUR TOYS. (TOOLS) THAT OLD RECKER IS GOING TO BE SO COOL. REALLY AWESOME JOB GUYS. GOD BLESS AND STAY SAFE AT WORK AND AT PLAY. MUCH LOVE.
On the wood stove chimney: instead of a hard 90* elbow I suggest using two 45* pieces to make the transition. According to the Utah Mechanical Code a 45* bend is still vertical (where a 90* bend is considered to be horizontal). Also, try running a HOTTER fire occasionally with a 'creosote-burning' 'chocolate miracle pill' every occasional-like. From the looks of that plugged chimney you were only moments way from a glorious Roman Candle pyrotechnique. (years of service up north as a deputy fire marshal and fire investivator)
I've suggested to them that a used oil heater would be their best bet for heating such a large shop. Look how many oil changes they have to do, plus other Mechanic shops in and around Moab that have used oil. Hardwood pallets are free everywhere and they burn hot. I too think they have too many elbows in their pipe and by the time the smoke exits, it is cooled off which also creates creosote.
Love the looks of the wrecker you're building for Robby. I like the idea of running hard pipe for the radiator pipping. Hope you leave it with the ability to expand in length as it can grow over an 1/8" in nine feet, based on zero degree ambient and 200 degree antifreeze.
Not just thermal expansion, but when that wrecker is loaded and twisted up, that frame is going to twist as well. The frame and tube need to be allowed the move a bit independently for both reasons. Any rigid mounting points between the tube and frame will probably fail pretty quickly.
loving the build it series you gor going on especially since your still showing your recovery videos too its just an added bonus of showing us a taste of the fabrication process which is never a boring thing in my book
When I was a kid I attended a winter survival course one weekend, and our base of operations was a log cabin that had one of those barrel stoves in it. It's was about -40 out, but it was like a sauna in there. When we left there the snow had melted back a few feet all around the cabin.
Rory you are more an automotive engineer and fabricator than a recovery tow truck operator 👍👍 and since you are an amazing recovery of vehicles expert you have at least 3 caps you wear, but let's not forget about Mike who proves that he is also a fabricator par excellent and Shawn for his mechanical expertise, a great crew always an enjoyable video to watch 👍👍
Stoked to see y'all helping the Campbells at KOH! Shannon Campbell OG rock crawler, competing over 2 decades and 2015 Off-Road Motorsports Hall of Fame.
Sounds like a really awesome season coming up!! The Robby Wrecker is coming along pretty well too. Getting anxious to start watching the videos of all the events this season!!!!
Rory i think is a master of many things. Everything he builds is top notch. Ive actually learned a few things over the past few years faithfully watching this channel.
That be 70 gallon tank ? That is beast on how thick the steel is. Robby, got king Fred, the bread truck, whiskers. He's getting serious. I can't imagine what he's paying for this build, alot of shop hours
Wow, your calendar for 2025 is filling up fast. Hope your editor and cameraman can keep up and as they always do, keep the great content coming. Thanks for sharing.
Hope you guy's had a wonderful Christmas and have a great New Year. This is one of my favorite channels to watch. Don't change a thing about it or yourselves. Love what you do and how you do it. Thanks for taking us along for the ride and can't wait to see what you do in the new year. Best of luck and stay safe guy's.
It appears the engineering under the hood of the Model AA wrecker will fill the space real comfortably. Mike is confident in his welding the custom fuel tank. I am looking forward to watching the pressure test video. Mike will be grinning from ear to ear when it passes with flying colors. Congratulations on scheduling so many events during the off season. Hope you guys have lots of fun spending time with so many other neat people. Keep the videos flowing. Have a prosperous New Year!
Trailmater is standing proud in the background. MAN!! I love that truck, she's just awesome. Thanks Rory and crew, stay safe and have a good time. Cheers Cape Town 🇿🇦🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲👌
Cool build, really enjoy watching it. KOH, what a deal, along with all your other venues. Very cool. I only wish I lived closer so I could see it all. So, I'm looking forward to seeing it here on the channel. 😎👍
I wondered how you were going to plumb the rad & you just showed me. Very cool. I am wondering if Mike is going to baffle the fuel tank to slow the sloshing around. Going to the King of the Hammers should be a blast for you guys. Have fun. Robby's truck is coming along nicely. Thanks for Sharing.
It’s amazing how Rory can visualize and build things like the tube frames and now the coolant lines. Watching the heat come through while Mike was building the fuel tank was fun. The whole crew at Trailmater are incredible. As I’ve said before please keep doing what you are doing. Oh and Shannon Campbell is one name I recognize from way back in the early days of Rock Crawler competition. Always liked watching him.
GUYS, the Robby Wrecker is going to be, yet another, out of the Rory brain 🧠 BEAST 👍 Then, all of the upcoming events, you will be filming for us, I hope 🤞. It’s going to be a “GREAT” 🇺🇸 TRAILMATER 2025. We’ll be watching 👀 Wishing the entire Traimater team and families a Happy Healthy New Year. Lou from Miami 🇺🇸
Mig welding is kinda zen. The focus is absolute when you're doing it right. Mike and Rory do it right. Happy New Year to all of the Trailmater crew, including Chris and Lily, of course.
I worked the fine-dining restaurants in the 70s and cooked my way through college and grad school! NOT ONLY an ashtray and a bonafide fire-flame candle on each table (occupant load of facility was over 300 persons); but every 'decent' restaurant/bar had their own BRANDED book of paper matches or miniture box of stick matches. Customers would steal (collect) them routinely. I laugh at it now but it really pis*ed me off back then. I am in my 70s now and still out Jeeping, kayak fishing and camping with friends and family.
That chimney... wow.. could have caused a disastrous fire 🤔 Once again so fascinating watching the birth of "The Beast"... Side note: Thank you Justin for your amazing editing skills😇 Thanks for sharing
Looking great! I’m an electrician who bends a lot of conduit, I’m impressed with your ability to do 3D bends it’s definitely an art. I just thought I’d mention if you didn’t already know common tubing offset bending multipliers. 10° = 5.75 15° = 3.86 22° = 2.6 30° = 2 45° = 1.41 60° = 1.16 For example, if you want to offset your tubing 10”inches and you wanted to use a 30°, what you do is multiply 10” by the multiplier for that angle, in the case of a 30 degree bend the multiplier is 2. So if you wanted to bend a 10” offset with a 30° you would mark the center of bend of your first bend 20” apart from the center of your second bend. Idk if it’s helpful for you at all but I thought I’d share.
Can't wait for Trailmater @ King Of The Hammers! I also found a Where's Waldo book going through a storage locker and Waldo's head looks an awful lot like Mike's head minus the glasses.
I was lucky enough to get to pit at KOH about 10 years ago..and it’s done nothing but get bigger. Loren Healy won that year and our team DNF’d ..lol I’m looking forward to Trailmater coverage in Hammertown , you guys will have a blast as long as you are 100% self sufficient and never need to leave because it’s a nightmare to get out!
No music, no fake drama or personalities, just interesting guys doing cool stuff. One of my favourite channels. Happy New Year!
I agree 100%! Keep it real is the best.
No music is one of the best features of this channel!
@@Chris-lp3dm 💯Exactly, not everyone likes the same type of music, this way we don't need to 'tune it out'.
I always see same time of comments, you working for them? Haha either way, I love watching trailmater channel! You guys kill it!
And if the title says the video is about working on Robby's wrecker, the video is almost all actually working on Robby's wrecker. What a concept.
It’s great to see old school pros at work, no excessive b/s or hype. Just getting the job done. 👍
Justin is doing an amazing job with the audio on the fast motion scenes. I love the way you guys have that in your videos over the squeaky fast forward.
I wonder how much laughing and head shacking Justin does as he is watching and editing these videos.
I don’t know but if y’all ever get that OnlyFans page I’d like to see the outtakes that couldn’t make RUclips.
Its amazing at how plugged that stove pipe was ,,, you didn’t have a chimney fire ,,,
I take any of that soot and stuff out of our chimney and burn it again. It burns very well.
Dude, what a honor to get called like that!! Definitely an opportunity you don’t turn down!! Looking forward to videos of King of The Hammers! I’m psyched for you😂😂
Lovin this build more and more each video.. being asked by Shannon Campbell to run a stop is fantastic, what an honor.
Huge props to Rory. Doing compound bends like that is really difficult and a heap of people can't do it! Getting it first shot both times is pretty impressive.
Everything good in this video. Skilled fabricators, friends and laughter. **NO MUSIC** Great stuff!!!
Getting asked by Shannon Campbell to run a pit of his, heck yes............
Great work on Robbys wrecker.
Mike, your weld will not leak......
I could watch Mike weld for Hours. Those were some cool angles and details Mike. Nice 👌 Sort of hypnotic therapy.
Favorite build on the internet!
Mikey is the master of the "one liners"... he does not disappoint in this episode!! Thanx Mikey!!!
Looks like a good tank, I would have maybe put a baffle or two in in, not because that tank is going to have problems with slosh, but just to help with oil canning, but if you vent it, you won't have to worry about oil canning anyways. I don’t even wait to hit Like. Do it the second the video starts. You guys rule.
The way to go.🇿🇦🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲👌💯
Me too!
Mike should also take the rear steer camper. That thing is a totally unique piece of kit. Sounds like a busy and fun winter. Enjoy.
Nope, Mike, Shawn, Rory and Chris like the diesel pusher motor home to stay in as it has better amenities. I don't think their car hauling trailers can fit everything. But Mike's trailer could become the Merch trailer for the vendor events.

Excellent workmanship guys.....that cooling hard line is brilliant....Mikies tank is a work of art.....thanks for letting me watch !!
So cool that Shannon called you guys in. You could NEVER pass that up! Have fun, Guys! Even through the chaos. (And, say HI to Kris)

😂😂
Really enjoy this build, you guys are awesome

Stack looks too short as well? Should be 2’ taller than any part of the roof within 10’
Good.Job.Shawn😊❤

What a genious build by all true fabricators. Love this channel Owning anything built by Rory at the helm would be amazing
Awesome content. I could whatcha you guys build all day long.... i like how you explain everything for the most part
The inside welding of the tank was great footage ,super cool!merry merry guys🎄
outstanding rig rory your channel is always TOP OF THE LINE.
Love to weld, but like Shawn, I know my limits, no way I can weld a gas tank that doesn’t hemorrhage fuel. Kudus to Mike for the attempt!
Thanks for the video. I enjoy watching you guys design and build!
As always enjoyed the ride along with you Men. Justin thanks for what you do Sir.
I know 0 about fabrication like you guys. Its inspiring to watch and that tow truck is going to be incredible for sure. MegaMater 🤘🏻
Man there's just something right about Team Trailmater being in Hammertown! Bet you folks keep drooling on Trail Mater - the OG off road wrecker!
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, Rory, Shawn, and Mike! Hopefully, the New Year brings nothing but the best.

Wow, that's a busy schedule! Thanks for the videos, and best to you all in the new year.
Good for you guys. You deserve the attention from your peers. Love watching you work with pipe fabrication etc..Talented trio!
Nice job boyz
Liked Mike's hammer on that back bar. Hope y'all have a wonderful New Year. Thank you for all of your great videos.
You know the rules. Any tool can hammer.
I could watch Mike weld all day long. You guys are full time traveling now, how cool is that. Looking forward to some awesome videos. Happy New Year.
That’s going to be an awesome time though a busy one too! Really cool to get an invite like that from a legend like Shannon.
Nothing like watching experienced people work . GREAT CREW. Recoveries are awesome. Thanks for sharing
I'm loving this wrecker build.
That be 70 gallon tank ? That is beast on how thick the steel is. Robby, got king Fred, the bread truck, whiskers. He's getting serious. I can't imagine what he's paying for this build, alot of shop hours
Maybe half that..the 36x24x12 tank I built held just under 40 gallons and this tank ain’t that big.
Great one have fun 😊
Its nice when good things happen to good people. Love the Grampa Mater build.

Rory u guys are the best and u build the coolest trucks and Mike your camper is a beast

Great Job Fellas on the Wrecker!! Awesome job welding Mike!! Have a Safe Trip To KOH!! Be safe and have aGreat Time!!
i was thinking that too, using the truck fender as a work bench! just as its meant to be
a really cool build on a very old truck.
Congratulations 👏🏻
Mig welding is kinda zen. The focus is absolute when you're doing it right. Mike and Rory do it right.
Happy New Year to all of the Trailmater crew, including Chris and Lily, of course.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Awesome work. Amazing skills. I’m loving this build.
❤ Another great video. The GIANT camper 😆 That thing is enormous!
Mike - remember back when every table in a restaurant had an ashtray and people would light up anywhere
Very nice work, enjoying the build.
This is a late one guys thanks for the video Trailmater
Loving all the hard work much love and respect shout out from western wa
Mike 👍 with the King of the Hammers 🔨 sounds painful. 😂
This wrecker is turning out real good. Rory is amazing me with his talent 😮
Merry Christmas to you all. Y’all is good fabulators, and good fixers, and good broken hauler liters.😊😊
Congratulations Guys.

Looking great! I’m an electrician who bends a lot of conduit, I’m impressed with your ability to do 3D bends it’s definitely an art.
I just thought I’d mention if you didn’t already know common tubing offset bending multipliers.
10° = 5.75
15° = 3.86
22° = 2.6
30° = 2
45° = 1.41
60° = 1.16
For example, if you want to offset your tubing 10”inches and you wanted to use a 30°, what you do is multiply 10” by the multiplier for that angle, in the case of a 30 degree bend the multiplier is 2. Idk if it’s helpful for you at all but I thought I’d share.
