She is one of the most underrated artists. She can sing.
Until she sings, I forget how much I love "real" singing.
I was in the crowd, she was fantastic. Was absolutely gutted that hardly anyone showed up, but those that did had a blast :)
Looks like there was a bit of a crowd there mate.
@joliecide eventually, there was more of a crowd, which was nice. But at first, no.
It's more a reflection on the organisers, as she clashed with the footy and Avril lavigne.
She deserved a much larger crowd. I guess crowd size is all relative really. But I was very surprised, I have photos near the camera stations and the crowd barely made it to those cameras at that point.

@@EmmaSmith-lx2uq It was Avril Lavigne that did it. I was watching Janelle too, but EVERYONE I spoke to said they were going to see Avril. Nostalgia killed Janelle's crowd. It's a bit crazy, cos I don't think Avril was ever really very good.

I was there too, I have never known such a loud audience reaction, I was close to covering my ears the applause was so loud. Fantastic, joyful concert.
@@petermoxham2625me too, had to cover my ears because the applause at the end was insane. Was a once in a lifetime kind of performance. Truly an amazing set.
What an all-star performer. She would have understood the rare opportunity people had to see their childhood hero Avril and still gave her all to those that were there for her set.

I was absolutely gutted about the avril janelle clash :( so sad to have missed this set!!

Only at the very end of the set did we see the whole field and it was shockingly empty! The crown only really went as far as the sound mix tent, and it was the same for the headliner SZA, WHO I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF! Also due to England playing football!! Ye Gods, you pay all that money to go to Glastonbury and spend it in your tent watching a football match on your phone?? Some people are just stupid!

Avril was on at the same time and her stage was overcrowded.

@@petermoxham2625 so underrated in the UK. I'm surprised it was as quiet as she has played Glasto before which was a storming set 🤔
@@sarahmitchell8385 She played the headline set on the third stage, West Holts, in 2019 and was amazing, many people including myself considered it the best set of the whole festival. I saw her on Saturday night at Brixton when she did the full hour and 40 minute set, I have never heard an audience cheer and applaud so loud in my life, it was deafening. I have seen the very best artists live including Prince, 9 times, the Boss, 6 times, and Janelle is up there with them. For anybody who left that stage to watch the football or Avril Lavigne, then it was their loss. Her professionalism when they were trying to cut her set short, they stopped her dancers bringing out her cap, in homage to James Brown, she didn't let it faze her and she finished on her terms.

Her latest record and this tour is "The age of pleasure", therefore the costumes were very appropriate. However on previous tours she was accused of being too "manish" because of the clothes she wore. Looks like she can't win. PS do you complain about Iggy Pop being topless?

Her latest record is "The age of pleasure" so totally appropriate clothing considering the subject matter of that album. The videos for that record celebrate that you can be comfortable and be positive about your body at whatever age. I suggest you watch Grace Jones and Peaches who are both icons with regard to body image ans sexuality.
