As a former employee of Tower DC, it's so cool to see the Shibuya Tower is not only still a thing but so similar in a lot of ways to the ol' Tower I used to work at (Shibuya's is much bigger of course, but nothing will ever beat sneaking away from stocking shelves to hang over the railing of the big staircase and watch the groups performing on the floor below.) The Shibuya Tower never did a smarter thing than when they split from the US Tower Records, cuz those idiots ran it into the ground and I'll never forgive 'em for it.
@@goodnightmoon I would say YES for this. Japanese people value and preserve their culture of buying and collecting CDs. They don't hesitate to buy CDs, especially for their favourite musicians/idols. It's not uncommon for many Japanese musicians to reach hundred of thousands or even 1 million copies on the first day sales of release. That's enough to impress many people from other countries!
Tower Records in the US seems like a dream in this day and age. I remember going to Tower Records on Sunset in LA, Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco, and other cities and towns in California. I even got to go to one of the original stores in Sacramento CA where it all began. Wish they would make a comeback here in the US. Although I don’t think there were many, if any, multi-story stores in the US like in Japan. It seems like Japan is the Mecca for record stores on planet earth!
When you came to the Idol section and approached 48Groups and showed me some HKT48 CDs, it made me happy! I wanna go and return to Tower Records someday. This is one of the dream places for a CD collector like me. Thank you for making this video! 😊🤍
Which floor is your favorite? Mine is definitely the 6th floor, loving the vinyl collection 🥰
