UPDATE 2/4/21: Shortly after I uploaded the video, FB removed the "Customize Facebook Post/Customize Instagram Post" option toward the bottom of the publishing screen. So you can still post directly from FB to IG, but if you want to customize your IG post with hashtags, you'll now need to either edit directly in IG after posting, or use a third-party app like Buffer to customize there. Hopefully FB will change its mind and give us back that functionality soon!

I truly appreciate your video. I had no idea about this feature until today. They have NOT removed the customized feature. They just moved it to the top instead of underneath the text. There is another side section that is up and that is where it is located at the top for you to customized. Beside that is the video uploading. Thank you so much for everything! You have truly helped me out!

great tutorial! on my phone there is an option to make my video widescreen. would it automatically do that for me if i upload through facebook?
That's a great question, Mike! From what I can tell, you can set your FB Live to landscape mode on your phone as long as the phone itself is set to landscape orientation (or is not "locked" in portrait) before opening the app AND when you're in the FB app you're holding the phone horizontally. I saw two sets of instructions about this, but when I did it myself it didn't work. Chances are, though, it will work for you!

You're asking a good question. As it stands right now, ticking the Instagram button will only affect the current post. So you need to go through this process each time you want to post directly from FB to Instagram. It doesn't affect any type of default settings. Thank you for asking!

Hi thanks. But😮 the Instagram format is different , and because Instagram is square, the video is cut on both right and left sides. What I did wrong?
Thanks for asking, Cecilia! If your IG is like mine, a horizontal video will be cut off on the sides when on your IG page, but it will look normal when people click on it. It will also look normal when it appears on their newsfeed. I hope that helps!
Hi. Thanks for your helpful video. For me there is something missing. While preparing the post on facebook the option of :"call for action" button is not working. Adding to that I would like to mention that there is no way to add a workable hyperlink in instegram, These means that it is not possible to create a facebook+instegram joint post with a call to action button or hyperlink in both places. I would like very much to hear you comments on that.
Thank you for asking these two questions! The CTA button may not be working because there's something wrong on Facebook's end. This happens often, unfortunately! As for hyperlinks, Instagram can only support hyperlinks in posts when they're from a paid ad...so a "normal"/free Instagram post (whether posted from Facebook or directly in Instagram) still needs to be either just photos or video. If I didn't make that clear in the video, I apologize! Thank you again for reaching out!
hi i am facing a problem, i have connected my facebook account with instagram successfully but when i use publishing tool and create post, then instagram account click option is disable... kindly tell me how can i fix this issue...
Thank you so much for asking this, and unfortunately I'm not sure of the answer. I'm assuming your Instagram account is a professional account (check Settings --> Account on your Instagram page), otherwise the two pages wouldn't be linked in the first place? That's the only thing I can think to check. I'm very sorry I can't help you more.
Our Instagram is connected to our Facebook page but when we try to click the checkbox to post on both it says that it's NOT connected. Any ideas as to why this might be happening?
Thanks for asking about this, and I'm sorry this is happening to you! To be sure, is your Instagram account a business account (Professional Account or Creator Account)? Or even if you originally set it up as a business account, check your settings on Instagram anyway. If I remember correctly with my own IG business account, I had to go into my settings at some point and choose Professional Account (although Creator Account would have also worked if it fit my business model) for IG to acknowledge my account as linking-to-FB-worthy. I hope that makes sense and hope that solution works for you. IG can be a confusing mess sometimes!

Thanks for asking about this! From what I can tell, you'd need to create a new video post from scratch if you want to put it on IG. Hopefully FB will add functionality so that you can put a previous FB video on IG!

Thanks. I've been trying to do this all morning, but for some reason, I can't post the image. It allows me to click on 'add photo'. It allows me to select a photo (saved for web) and click
'choose', but then it won't show as loaded and the publish button is greyed out. When I hover over the publish button, it says it can't cross post because I don't have an image or video selected and one is needed for instagram. It just won't recognise that I have actually added an image. If I type some text, it reviews the text, but not the image. Any ideas what could be going wrong?

Thanks for asking about this. To be sure, are you choosing an image like a JPG or PNG, which is what Facebook/Instagram will accept? I think you are, but I just wanted to check. Other than that, it sounds like you're doing all the right things. It could very well be that Facebook is acting goofy, which it sometimes does, and it's really frustrating! In that case, I'd say to keep on trying. Sorry I can't be of more help!

I see you just posted this fairly recent. I was following your instruction to find Publishing Tools does not show the Customize text options for hash tags as you show. Do you know if this has moved or been removed?
Thanks so much for asking this. It looks like FB just removed that option! I checked my own FB page as well as one of my client's pages to which I have admin access. It's frustrating that FB changes things so often! So now, if you want to customize your IG post, you'll either need to edit directly in IG after posting, or use a third-party app like Buffer to customize there. I wish I had better news! And if there's anything else you need, please let me know.

@@kecosocialmediaagency9895 Good question! Because the "customize" option is gone now, I'd recommend simply using a 3rd party tool like Hootsuite, Buffer, etc. so you can customize there.

I had to create a new Facebook page in order to change the name of my previous page. Now that I have the new page set up, I want all of my photos & posts on the new page. I hope this makes sense. Hi Angela! Thanks for your kind words, and thanks for your question! If I understand correctly, you want all of your photos and posts to be physically on the new page, without having to share a link to the old page. I'm going to give you two answers to this. The first is that there's no direct way to do this, from what I can tell when I researched this (my hunch was that it wasn't possible, but I wanted to research it first). The closest you can get to it is to download the individual photos, posts, etc. and recreate them as new posts on your new page, which would be a huge pain! Facebook does allow you to download everything in Settings --> General --> Download page, but you'd still be practically working from scratch because you can't "put" these already-crafted posts on your page as original posts. The second answer is: Is it all really necessary? When people visit your page, it's VERY rare that they'll scroll down past, say, your 5 previous posts to see what your business is up to. So my recommendation is to not worry about it. If you want, recreate your favorite 3 albums from your old page and then start working on new albums! And if you haven't done so already, make sure there are several new posts and photos on your new page. Seriously, maybe 1 out of 1,000 people will notice that you don't have all your old posts. It's not worth the effort of recreating everything. Sorry for the extra long answer, but I hope that helps!

Thank you so much for subscribing! Are you talking about sharing a video on Instagram that you already posted on FB? If so, you would need to recreate the post for Instagram. But if you're posting both at the same time, you'll see an option to add/upload a video. P.S. - If you don't see an Instagram option after you click on "Create Post," click on the gear wheel icon in the bottom left corner of the prompt, and you'll see "New Post Creation Tool." If you click on that, you'll see an option to post onto Instagram, and you'll see video is an option. I hope that helps!
What if I have a program auto post to facebook how can I get those to instagram?

That‘s a really good question! I poked around and found a way to do it. On your business page on the left side, click on Publishing Tools. Then put a check mark next to the FB post you want to work with. Then click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of the „pop-up“ that will appear for the post. Then select Duplicate post. Then only select that you want the post to go on IG. I hope that helps!
Do you have an idea why the "customize to Instagram" option isn't showing up in my post creator? Is it the type of Facebook biz page I may have? Or is Facebook just that randon?
Thank you so much for asking, Heidi, and I wish I had a solid answer for you. It could be that FB isn't offering that functionality to all business pages yet. It has been on my business page for quite awhile, so I thought I had waited long enough to make a video about it. 😕 Also, I did some extra digging around just now, and I found another way to post to Instagram, assuming it's also available to you. Assuming you're set up on Facebook Business Manager (business.facebook.com), click on the 9 dots in the menu on the left, and scroll down to Page Posts under Engage Customers. From there, when you create a post, you should (hopefully) see an option for Instagram. I hope that helps!

That's a really good question. Do you mean linking, say, your personal IG account to your FB business page? FB doesn't allow that. You can do personal/personal or business/business. However, your goal may be doable if you use a third-party scheduling tool - it depends on the app you use. For instance, Buffer won't go for that, but maybe Hootsuite will?

So you either now need to edit/customize in IG after you post from FB, or customize your posts through a third-party app like Buffer. I hope FB brings back that option-it was awesome!

Unfortunately, it does not work for me. I am pushed to Creator studio and there is no option to post to Instagram. And yes I am connected. :-(
Ugh. So when you‘re just in Publishing Tools (before you get to Creator Studio) and click on Create Post, the option isn‘t there on the left side? The option should appear even if you weren‘t yet connected.

Thanks for asking - it’s now possible to do this on your phone. 👍 You have to do it through Facebook’s free Business Suite app for mobile. You’ll see when you create a post from there, it automatically gives you the opportunity to add to Instagram, and right before you publish it gives you the option to customize the post for each platform. Oh no! I'm not having that problem on my end, but FB does seem to have different interfaces for different accounts, which is frustrating! Hopefully FB will change it soon. FB has changed this "publishing" page at least 2-3 times since I've made this video, so hopefully change will come to you in a positive way!

You have not shown what you stated! ‘How to share Facebook post on instagram’ you have shown how to share a post to both Facebook and instagram at once, NOT how to share an existing Facebook post to instagram!

I am sorry to say, but this is not appropriate post. You speak very very fast, does not give people time to learn, I had to go back many times to understand where do you do certain actions, than you go from one page to another without any guidence how did the passing happned. I don't like it, I shared it with my teachers, and they did also not like. Calm down when you speak if you are here to teach us.

Thanks for asking, Majid. To be clear, is the Instagram account switched to a professional account, and is it connected specifically to your Facebook business page? To connect, go to your FB business page, and on the bottom left panel click on Settings, and then Instagram on the left panel on the next screen. I hope that helps!
