The DLC is showing up as free for me. Theres 9 of them. I havnt received my copy in the mail yet, so I cant 100% confirm yet.(not sure if it will change to paid once I start up the retail copy) But it is currently showing 9 free dlc on the eshop for me.

hmmmm, that's interesting. I've just taken a look and the DLC isn't showing up on the UK eshop but you're 100% correct. It is showing up as free on the US eshop. I had the game rather early and when I looked it up around the 23rd/24th September, they all said either £1 for me or $1 in the US. Perhaps they were place holders? Not sure what happened but what I'll do is pin this comment so people can see what we've said. Cheers for letting me know about this 👍

Some of us are crazy big fans of Idea Factory/Compile Heart games. Hopefully you don't get too much hate lol. Even though I cringed at the opinion part of the review, it was well done and ill give credit where its due.
Your a great reviewer imo. Just as I hate country music, I can tell if a song is good (or not ) , even though I personally don't like country music. To me, thats a skill that many youtube reviewers are missing. So imo, that skill alone makes you rise above the rest. It also makes me enjoy the review alot more.
Your content is very professional and nice quality. Very good structure & editing as well as voice.
I came to this video expecting something much different (and worse). But I left as a new subscriber 👍👍

Wow.....thanks very much, I mean seriously. That's very kind of you to say. I just do my best, you know? I'm not out here trying to change people minds. I want to show games to people, give them the facts and then my opinions. I recognise that the world doesn't revolve around me and what I want so I did hours worth of research (as I said in the review) in order to understand what people who love those genre would be looking for. It broadens my knowledge and respects the game (and its fans) even though it didn't click with me. Just seems right to me 😊
I do actually like Idea Factory/ Compile Heart in general. I've played and enjoyed some of the Neptunia Series, Gun Gun Pixies, Omega Quintet, Mugen Souls Z and Moero Crystal so hopefully that will exonerate me from the fans wrath haha! Nah its all good, I like their games but this particular genre just doesn't seem to gel with me, although I will try some others that have been suggested.
Anyway, thanks again my friend for subscribing and for your compliments, they do genuinely mean a lot to me. Hope to see you in the comments again! 👍😊

The sheer amount of dialogue got me as well....I gave up fairly early on, but it felt more like a visual novel with a bit of dungeon crawling on the side. I still played for hours hoping the mechanics would open up, but I finally succumbed when it felt like it never would...

    • @ConsolesOnlyGaming
      @ConsolesOnlyGaming  2 года назад +1

Yea, that's pretty much how it felt for me. I don't actually mind visual novels (I've reviewed a couple), but that isn't what I wanted out of this specific game. I made sure not to trash the game for that though, I think its a very good game of this genre but its a little bit too dialogue heavy for me personally. Thanks very much for watching though, I appreciate it. 👍🏻😊

Anyone that has played these games wouldn't blame you for not liking it because of how slow it is. It's practically a visual novel. Hell there are actual novels in the game's bonus menu. It's definitely an acquired taste and I do appreciate your candidness. No one wants to hear someone that doesn't like fighting games to review the newest fighting game. Different strokes for different folks. I would say don't give up on the entire first person dungeon crawler genre. There are a lot of different types out there. If you want something more gameplay focused, check out the Etrian Odyssey titles, or if you want something more experimental, try Zanki Zero.

First of all, than you very much for being so respectful in regards to my review. You and pretty much everyone else has been very kind about my views on this game and that really does mean a lot to me. 😊
Secondly, I won't give up on the genre entirely, I'm interested to try other games like this and I have actually had some suggestions from other viewers as well. I've written a list of all the suggestions and I'm going to look into them as soon as I have some free time. I mean, I do enjoy mystery dungeon games like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and Omega Labyrinth Life which aren't TOO different in terms of how they work. I'm sure I'll find something I like and when I do, I'll be sure to make a video. Considering the responses I've had on this review, I think I owe it to fans of the genre to try some other games and I will do just that. Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment 👍

I felt exactly the same about the first Mary Skelter. I wanted to like it, a horror themed dungeon crawler how could I not. But I just couldn't care less about the endless dialog and the dungeon and monster design wasn't what I had hoped for. I dropped it pretty quickly. I almost bought the second one and this new one but I know better...I think. Just let me crawl in some dungeons. I'll always be chasing another crawler with great music and a fun art style but my legs are getting tired. Before you leave the first person dungeon crawler genre completely, may I recommend Shining in the Darkness, Wizardry: Tale of the Forsaken Land, Legend of Grimrock, The Dark Spire, Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne, and Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey. Thanks for the solid review!

Thanks very much my friend! Seems as though we're on the same page with this one. Sometimes that kinda thing happens doesn't it. You look at a game and think "this looks fun, I know I'll enjoy this". Then you play it, it doesn't hook you and you drop it. Its happened with so many games over my lifetime and its a shame but as I said, not everything is for everyone. I will indeed look into your suggestions. I've already played SMT Nocturne and the games that spun off from it (Persona) but arent' they classed as JRPG's? Like you don't explore dungeons on a grid system in first person right? I'm playing Mary Skelter Nightmares and I have 10 hours on it. I haven't played the other 2 games yet, and it seems like Nighmares is as slow as you said Finale is. Don't get me wrong, I'm absolutely loving the game, but there are certain dialogue sections where you can't save and they can last even some hours!!! They make me piss off when they appear, even though they are good. I'd preferred if they added a save feature during visual novel dialogues, just like in Death End re;Quest.

    • @darkens_exe3586

It's probably because the story isn't as good as it should be to get me hooked and watch 1 hour straight of visual novel, like death and request 2 did. If you haven't played it I'd highly recommend, it's made by the same people from mary skelter series, so it's part visual novel and part gameplay. The gameplay is more "standard" for jrpg unlike Mary skelter. The combat system is a bit unique, where the movement in the battlefield is important. I have like 10hrs of playtime and for now the story is amazing, full of mysteries and very dark, and for what I know it gets even better with some plotwists. I've only played the 2nd game, you can enjoy it without playing the 1st game, you won't only get some references.

Most scenes and events I saw were fully voiced and so were the battles. I think they may have taken out the voice parts in the "Before Story" section that I mentioned, where you can catch up on the first two games. I think they are included as just text. @@ConsolesOnlyGaming Yes it is. I've only really played Dynasty Warriors, mostly back in the ps2 days, and I tried Gundam 2 I think.
Guts is a perfect match for a Warriors game, the narrative has him diving heads first into army's on a very consistent basis.. It's surprisingly story heavy, and there's A LOT of additional dialog. I havnt read the Manga, but it's almost like it's trying to be a substitute. It uses rather lengthy clips of the more recent movies when available too. I havnt beaten it yet, but I've enjoyed all of it outside of one VERY shifty boss fight.
