the echo shard example is the most egregious and speaks to the games biggest development issue imo. developers will add so many things that don’t interact with the rest of the game, making the additions feel like theyre stuck in a vacuum instead of part of a larger world
I like to say that it lacks a "purpose" There is a reason: to update the game, attract more players and make money. But it seems that certain things don't have a "purpose" within the game, they only exist because the players can interact with them.
A couple of things here. 1. Polar bears were never supposed to be in the game and the only reason they are is because Jens’ wife thought they were cute. 2. The sniffer was supposed to have at least 3 different plant drops, but they got cancelled because someone leaked them :( 3. Modern mobs feel useless because mojang is too scared to give them drops. Goats were supposed to drop wool and mutton, and sniffers moss blocks. Ever found it strange you can just brush off armadillo scales? That’s the reason why. Speaking of the armadillo, why keep add the scales when you could just use turtle scutes instead?
@SSSandier1 it does seem like mojang is getting too scared to just let players kill the new animals like we do the old ones, and they're trying to stop the "violence" against innocent animals by making them drop absolutely nothing, so that there's no incentive to kill, farm, or domesticate them in any way. minecraft is kinda lowkey going woke, just not in the conventional sense of woke. they're kinda turning into peta with the subliminal anti violence against the new mobs.
don't care about anyone's opinion, this man spittin' straight facts, i play minecraft for 9 years already and i always thought that something was off about this game but i couldn't point out what it was exactly, but this man right here COOKED on this one. make this man a CEO of mojang
The Sniffer mob no joke, can be the best way to reintroduce the older Minecraft colors that got axed. That singlehandedly gives the Sniffer a niche, that being said, they would have to tweak everything a bit to make them a renewable source of those older colors. And besides the older plants could have their own functions, like a large plant like the spore blossom that traps medium and small sized mobs that walk over it.
I actually love that idea, could even throw in legacy plants like the rose and cyan rose. I understand they were removed cause "roses are bushes actually", but MC isn't *supposed* to be a realistic game, y'know?
I thought that the climbing plant that leaked and never made it to the game, you could extract its blue berries and they could be used to make random potions, which can have up to 3 random potion effects in a glass jar.
OH MY GOD, you’re one of the first RUclipsrs I’ve seen who actually understand the Extrinsic/Intrinsic issue- Almost all RUclipsrs pick a side, saying Minecraft is ONLY supposed to have Intrinsic motivations because it’s a “sandbox game” and it relies on you just feeling like doing something 2000000 times, and MOST of them take this side. Though there are those who go too far with Extrinsic value as well, but it is FAR less common and those who say it usually get bullied for it, because let’s not be ridiculous, Minecraft isn’t Skyrim- But you’re completely balanced, and understand that there should be MORE Extrinsic value, because Minecraft has veeeerry little. Goodness it’s so hard to find someone who isn’t just babying Minecraft and letting it not work on the aspects it’s lacking. And don’t get me wrong i LOVE Minecraft, but goodness gracious, do I get tired of “picking pretty flowers” for weeks while I fumble with the horrible progression and enchantment systems.
The rotten meat for exp aspect sounds really good. When I first discovered about the sniffer and those plants, I thought Mojang would drop a whole new lore and aspect to the game. At first I thought the pitcher was the corpse plant or something and thinking that Mojang might try to find another use for rotten meat for using it to feed to the corpse plant and in turn gives us free exp or something. As well as the Torch plant being luminous and Sniffer being able to find runic or maybe its fragments with small chances. There are a lot of missed opportunity really.
And this is the reason so many folks are preferring modded Minecraft to the main game. Because mod developers try and give a _purpose_ to their blocks. Are the blocks always better than what Mojang could come up with? No. But there's usually at least _some_ purpose to adding the feature, or else why would somebody download your mod?
I still can't believe that the echo shards don't make anything other than a compass, the challenge of the ancient city is amazing and the warden is one of my favorite additions to the game, and yet the echo shards do nothing when they clearly should!
The death compass should be crafted at the beginning of the game, because when you go to an ancient city, you are already experienced and you never die XD
@@PulpiSuper3246 Death happens all the time, it's very hard to say you'll "never die" and I'm not saying the recovery compass isn't useful when you get, it's just that you shouldn't need to go to the ancient city to get the compass
ive been thinking about a crazy idea recently where like. instead of trying to kill the warden or run away you have to sneak up behind it and like. "deactivate" it? wit a special item? and maybe if you do it right it drops something like a nether star but you can craft it into wind chimes with echo shards and it prevents mod spawns in an area. that way youre engaging with the sneaking thing AND respecting the warden as a tougher enemy than usual instead of thinking about it like its a wither or something, AND you get something fun and useful out of it ANd you use the echo shards.
The Warden is meant to be feared and avoided, if you’re stealthy for long enough it goes away and stops protecting the sculk. The entire goal is to make something that the player doesn’t want to meet, that’s why it doesn’t drop anything valuable. That’s why there’s no achievement for killing it.
@HobGobbity Stop posting this argument. There's precisely nobody in the Minecraft community who hasn't heard it before, and it never becomes more true no matter how many times it's reposted. You can have an enemy that's primarily meant to be avoided without making it give zero reward for encountering it. People didn't stop avoiding the Dungeon Guardian from Terraria after _it_ was given a drop. It's irrational to expect that even a small reward would make players instantly loose all self-preservation instincts. Edit: Additionally, it's not like even the Warden as it is doesn't still get killed by players anyways. If not recording videos of fighting them for bragging rights, people build entire Warden *farms* for renewable Sculk Catalysts. Mojang have already failed in making players not want to engage with them, there's no reason not to give something unique for people to look forward to.
im not against intrinsic or extrinsic motivation, but as a naturally and unchangeably extrinsically motivated person, i would like for minecraft to use extrinsic motivation to spark intrinsic. for example: horde nights. if they adding horde nights, then the player would be incentivized to build creatively and use their environment to their advantage, but nobody wants a flat, plain wood wall, that shit ugly. so the player is more likely than not to have been sparked to make the wall pretty. thats what i mean by extrinsic sparking intrinsic. also 1000% subbed. i really like this despite disagreeing with a lot
You know, I've talked about this with people before. Minecraft gets a lot of cool ideas, but then fumbles the execution. The loot in the Deep Dark is probably the least egregious, because Swift Sneak is cool, and the redstone components are at least _something,_ but the rest? Especially when it comes to the old mob votes, it feels like a lot of the time - not always, but a lot of the time - Mojang comes up with a cool idea, gives it the most basic implementation, and then moves on, never to revisit it again. And while it's great that Minecraft gets a lot of new content, it's not so great that very little of that content ever ends up living up to its potential. The Pale Garden is a _really_ cool idea, leaning into the old feelings of horror in Minecraft...except that there wasn't even a reason to engage with the biome's main mechanic until players got hold of the snapshot and pointed out that you could just not go there at night and miss out on nothing, and even now it just nets you some more building blocks.
I think that you should be able to craft a looking glass of sorts with 4 copper and 1 echo shard, and when you look into it, maybe you could see some sort of other dimension, or some new mobs you could not see otherwise. Idk i just think thats cool :∆
Wellll if we really wanna lean into the idea of intended motivation and progression, maybe it could guide you to trail ruins and other hard to spot ancient structures, since echo shards do have some connection to the past. Or maybe an entirely new structure like the stronghold, that you’re meant to find with it in particular:3
I loved how this example of a flower is literally me, I LOVE collecting flowers in Minecraft, I always want to collect them all and make a garden, a greenhouse, decorate my house and give them to my friends.but I'm so sad that they're kind of useless
You know what I love? Genuinely really well made videos by completely unknown content creators. Like, This guy needs 100 thousands subs. But to be fair this is his first video, but still.
The Editing and- well, your Disastrous Sense of Humor are very Entertaining, I can't believe this video had my Focus for 21 whole minutes, Definitely Subscribing
While i do think the torch flower should provide light, i personally don't like the idea of involving it in making armor glow. I think the plants the sniffer digs up are fine as just decoration. My issue with it are that the sniffer doesn't dig up enough plants and the two plants it does dig up provide no atmospheric benefits other than how they look. The sniffer needs more plants, and each plant needs to have some kind of atmospheric effect be it being a light source or some kind of animation or particle effects (like how those flowers on the ceilings of lush caves give off falling plant particles). The sniffer has the chance to be literally the BEST source of nature decorations from making gardens to mystical caves or forests. . . But instead all we got were two plants with not much to make them better than the plants we already have aside from looking unique which isn't much
@@deletedaccount7 there was supposed to be a 3th plant type that kinda looked like vines with flowers. It got leaked and mojang never added it after. Such a shame because It was the most interesting one of the plants, even if it was just decoration.
THIS. 12:08 The flower part is so real. I had to travel 3000 blocks diagonally to find 16 white tulips on a non-elytra server. Then when I finished using them, I realized I needed pink tulips too 😭 (I have yet to get my pink tulips)
yeah it’s a server. We have a small economy but we just started. There’s like eight of us. I’m just the neighborhood tryhard and wanted flowers lol (my pain is mostly self inflicted, but still the flower concept benefits my play style at the very least)
What i really dislike about mojangs position on this matter is that they say: "the players will craft their own experience and enjoyment" but they recently have just been actively trying to take down the modding community removing parts of how the game functions, making it increasingly difficult for mods to be made. And i get the point of: "well, they have addons which are practicaly mods so you shouldn't complain" but they are fucking pay walled, so like, you can't customize the game to your own enjoyment without paying more.
Your ideas are honestly great. My only caveat is that most of your suggestions have something to do with “slap it into a smithing table”. Some items like the Panda Charm should just work by being on your off hand for example
While watching I was constantly thinking about "Better than Wolves" mod, created because autor thought that wolves were a an extreme time sink that only provided ascetics, when game had many unfinished systems that could use some easy additions, like redstone or minecarts (at the time only useful things that redstone was able to interact with were doors, and maybe normal rail intersections, and powered rails didn't even exist yet). Though these days it is known for its progression overhaul and challenging difficulty (at some points bordering on being grindy). But at the time it tried giving utility for items unique to nether (and to go there in the first place), as most of them just existed.
i often have conversations with my friend about what they should add to minecraft and it always ends with "isn't it crazy how much better minecraft would be if we were in charge"
the problem is the lack of intrinsic features surrounding the core game loop of getting resources with mending making getting new stuff useless, some minerals not even having a use of them being able to be exploited/farmed/duped to get way more like iron, mob drops and other minerals
not to mention both the lack of side resources and uses for them. ancient cities should have exp related items, maybe a barrel of exp with 30 levels of storage or a vial of experience that puts all your levels in a single bottle
honestly, my personal opinion on the sniffer is adding: a new mushroom, a new Rainbow Eucalyptus sapling, and 2 new flowers that are crafted into the retired rosé-pink and sea-green wools
Nice video, but I din't understand the mountain part, mountains just got better,WAY more prettier than before, more realistic, that's it's value, just being a place because they are just a place in real life and they were just so ugly and lacking verticality, diagonal forests, flowery hills, frozen slippery slopes and CROWNS OF STONE (Also the music that plays when you are there just makes me so emotional 😭). Mountains just absolutely slaps, they don't need an reason to exist! Like foxes or goats, they are there because the world would look more empty and bland without them. But I still want the Sniffer to have MORE flowers!!!
The thing about “Good loot” at this point in the games development is that it’s been so desaturated that there is no possible way to make “Good loot”. Even enchanted diamond tools and armor feel like cheap throwaway items once a world is more than a few hours old, what used to be a rare and exciting reward is now a paperweight on par with rotten flesh. Why do anything when all you need is two villagers and some beds to get everything you need?
Genuinely shocked to see you only have one video. Your editing, humor, everything is definitely my kind of video. Super entertaining and definitely sad I don’t see more to watch yet lol Looking forward to see what other topics you’ll cover in the future!
I have an idea: -You take two nautilus shells and one goat horn. -You place them on a crafting table like a Sandwich and you get a conch. -With that item, you can play several different random sounds like with the goat horns, but with a marine theme. -Every time you play a sound, you will attract the drowned so that it will be easier for you to find them and you can obtain the trifen faster.
i dont think anyone complain about biome overhauls and specifically about mountains you can obtain emeralds and coal and iron at higher levels and exposed to the surface
5:48 Ok, I got a bit of a defense for the mountains. Specifically only the ice. Ice boat bridges are some of the fastest modes of travel you can have in minecraft. They're fantastic for nether highways so that you can link up to two spaces fast. Blue ice is the fastest ice to boat on, but it takes a lot of ice to make blue ice. Nine ice makes packed ice. Nine packed ice makes one blue ice. Now, unless you spawn in a cold biome, you're usually going to have to travel a couple thousand blocks to get somewhere with ice. Even longer if you spawn somewhere like a jungle or desert due to how minecraft generates its worlds. The snowy mountains can spawn in most temperate biomes, and not only do they have ice, they have packed ice. Which you can already place and not have melt in the nether or it allows you to skip a step in making blue ice. This makes these mountains useful. Sadly its kind of its only use, as is pointed out by the rest of the video
holy i went to look at your channel to watch more of your videos and… there were none! this is an insanely good video, especially for being your first. you might be my new favorite creator!
This was a phenomenal video! A few loose ideas: - Bears are known for eating a bunch before hibernating, so maybe you can shear polar bear fur and smith it onto armor to decrease your hunger drain? - When the Warden was released, I thought there would have been some upgrade to get around sculk sensors that wasn’t sneak-related. I think it would be neat if you could smith echo shards to tools to give them “noise-cancelling” properties that wouldn’t trigger any sculk. - The panda charm leads me to think we should be able to ally with/weaponize other mobs. Rotten flesh, sand, prismarine, and emeralds could make a smithable item to make all zombie types neutral towards you/act like undead wolves. Bones, moss, snow, and arrows for all skeletons to become better snow golems. Cobwebs, stone bricks, and ender pearls for all the “arthropods” (spiders, silverfish, endermites) to stop bugging you, and maybe allowing you to climb walls. Probably have something for creepers, blazes, breezes, and the other hostile mobs too. Echo shards can be required for all the recipes since you’re “echoing” the mob’s sentiments and abilities. And I guess to balance these out, having monster-aligned armor can make other mobs hostile towards you. Iron golems and villagers will despise you while you’re wearing them, wolves and cats can start targeting you, maybe passive mobs (cows, sheep, pigs) will be scared of you and avoid you. - I saw this mentioned somewhere else but there were two old wool colors that were removed from the game. Someone suggested making the dyes of the plants dug up by the sniffer be the source of those lost colors. - I’m surprised you didn’t mention anything about food in the video! Maybe sniffer plants can be workarounds for useful potion effects? Mushrooms and that torch plant could make a night-vision stew. The pitcher plant and poisonous potatoes allow you to inflict poison on anyone you attack. Maybe you could craft a super animal feed with sniffer plants and regular crops that would skip the breeding cooldown (maybe farm mobs give birth to two mobs at once?) or some food to keep mobs as babies forever (using the poisonous potato?).
I remember I had one idea of crafting an echo shard with a spectral arrow to get an echo arrow. When you shoot it, it sends a shockwave, giving the glowing effect to all mobs in the area, letting you scout out areas with limited visibility. they'd also distract wardens, letting you escape if needed
Funny enough the 3 major extrinsic exploration structures you brought up, I've got plans for in my survival data pack, which is focused on enhancing the game by improving the more lackluster parts of it. This was really well done and your ideas are pretty awesome and have helped me find some more!
Power ups that only activate when standing within a certain biome is a pretty neat idea. A way to grant amazing bonuses while also holding off power creep, and gives more depth to where you decide to make your base and what armor you're wearing.
One thing about the warden, it used to be intrinsically motivating because it was such a cool and different mob, but mojang in their infinite wisdom and fear of cheese gave it the sonic boom and sniffing mechanics. The sniffing mechanic meant it always knows where you are and the sonic boom meant it can attack you always. These two combined make it so that the only way to deal with warden *is cheese*, the very thing these mechanics were supposed to prevent.
Some other things I feel should be mentioned: Meat(pretty much every mob should have a meat drop, or at least every passive as that has been shown in the past and would help make it more interesting.) Mob interactions(there's what, like 4 or something? They help make a game much more alive and having so few makes them feel kind of... off imo.) Also something I was REALLY hoping for with the sniffer was being able to get the only two removed dyes and maybe even removed flowers. That would be such a unique thing to do imo and would add so much value.
Your editing and style are so funny, I haven't laughed at a RUclips video in so long. Remember me when u get popular, u currently have 976 subscribers I can't wait for ur upcoming videos
People tend to forget that Minecraft is a SANDBOX GAME with an enormous variety of game styles. That’s why everything is optional for the most part. That’s why these simple things that you don’t enjoy aren’t shoved in your face, somebody else enjoys them. I love playing things like the Creaking, it only really helps you to get some building blocks, but in a heavily building focused game that’s pretty cool. I mostly just think the mob is fun to mess with though. Trail ruins are some of my favorite things to find and completely excavate and repair. Nobody is going to go to those if they don’t care about them, no matter the loot. I mean they already have armor trims and a disc and people don’t go because it’s not their thing. (Plus the loot is supposed to make sense and help you piece together what the buildings were back in the day.) Sniffers look nice, but I do agree that the flowers could be a little more worth the time or be in more variety. The mountains in an infinite world game do not need to be the most exciting useful adventure, this is a world that we are meant to explore and see the beauty of. Some people would love to build a cabin on a mountain, others would like to blow it up for ores.
The game is a sandbox game, the reason to explore the sandbox is to gather the materials to make what you want. If the stuff in the deep dark, Trail Ruins or mountains doesn't interest you then you don't need to go there. But if you want explicit value here you go. Mountains Have emeralds in them also more Iron and Coal spawn higher up so they are a good place to stop if you need some. Powdered Snow works to create hidden walls and or traps Trail Ruins work as a way to gather lots of rare or annoying blocks to get on mass like Terracotta Mud Bricks and regular Bricks without finding the biome they're linked too. Ancient City's offer a large open space that exposes a lot of ores underground, and Skulk shriekers enable wireless redstone. Swift Sneak is great for building up high as well cause you can be as good at you want with water bucket clutching, not falling in the first place is better and a frequent reason I see people fall is uncrouching to move faster.
I think a perfect microcosm of my biggest problem with minecraft is that there are two uses for glow ink and both uses could've been done with glowstone. They never expand on any ideas, they just get distracted and make like, copper. Which you get 8 billion veins for and it makes 2 things that are stupidly niche. And then never touch it again!! Like please you have so many awesome ideas with so much potential but there's just SO MUCH clutter and junk! Like they did with gold. Was basically worthless outside of decoration, but now it's useful in the nether! It is a sandbox!! So I really wish they were more into making fun toys for us to play with. I want more silly stuff that actually interacts with each other in interesting ways instead of a cardboard cutout of a panda
For pitcher plant: Pitcher turnip. Only drops when you harvest the flower from it's farmland state, works like Notch apple but with some debuff for balancing.
Something I wish was a use for the torch flower was that it would light itself up and the things around it. Maybe not set things on fire, I was thinking it gave off light. Maybe the torch flower could be used in fire resistant potions. Another thing, maybe it can be placed as fuel in a furnace, but the flower doesn't ever run out. You can take it out whenever you want and it'll never disappear. But that might be too over powered for furnaces, but I think the fact it's so hard to find makes up for it. Your coal won't have to go towards cooking food or cooking ores.
Mountains have lots of iron and coal, so they're great for early game, the goats drop horns, ice is used for ice boat paths that are the fastest way to travel in the game. Ancient cities have some of the best loot chests, god apples in abundance, diamond armor, a unique enchantment, and the biome itself is a massive source of XP. You have a point about the sniffer, polarbear, rabbit hide, and fetching table but the rest are things where you are either unaware of or ignoring the utilities of.
i once Raided 7 ancient city to find the armor trim slience, to not find it and log back in the next day and see someone who find two silence trim in one ancient city first try and all i have is more then a stack of useless echoshard, ton of broken discs, and more swift sneak books then the server will ever need. At least it gave me the idea to build a redstone shop to "sell the item" but it's more like a fancy storage solution. But yeah i feel the same for a lot of item/block, as you mention the sniffer giving 2 flowers that don't even has special use or different suspicious stew frog light are very good building block but you need to find frog in everybiome get them to the nether and build a farm.
I wish on top of glowing, the torch flower could also act like a good fuel source, and you could farm it like other crops. It's like wheat, you get the flower and a few seeds so you can keep planting it. Make it as good as a blaze rod or block of kelp for furnace burntime. A direct, easily farmable upgrade from coal/charcoal as long as you take the time to get the sniffer to begin with. If that's too op, maybe instead make it as good as coal but it doubles smelting exp. I also wish there were more reasons to do the excavation stuff other than just cds and armor trim. Those things are ancient, imagine if you can dig up ancient debris on rare occasions, other than just digging in the nether and hunting bastions. You can find it in the overworld in very small quantities, on very limited locations, in a safe environment, if you actually take the time to find and safely inspect the ancient ruins of civilization.
12:16 y dale con la burra al trigo... Partly it wouldn't make sense since it is a plant that exists in real life and has different names in other languages. For example, in Spanish, it is called "bastón de emperador"(literally meaning emperor's staff), why would an emperor's staff light up like a torch? Pd: Yes, literally the name of that flower also changes in the game with the language you have
I have to disagree about Swift Sneak, it's an S-tier enchantment. 1. Ancient cities aren't that hard to find, they have a tendency to generate under mountains/mountainous areas. You can then use your Swift Sneak in _other_ ancient cities to more easily traverse them and gather their loot faster. 2. Ancient cities are _not_ the most useful place in the game to use Swift Sneak. Like just about every feature in the game, as well as the game's progression itself, it exists mainly in service of building. Bridging and building stuff in midair is so much faster using Swift Sneak. When you've had it on your endgame gear for a while, starting a new world makes sneaking feel super slow. It's hard to go back to building without it, and I often make a point in any new world or SMP to find an ancient city so I can get it ASAP. I tend to play intrinsically and I full agree with the idea that Minecraft is a game designed around intrinsic value (hell, I love copper in its current state), however I can agree that echo shards are an awful item since they can only be used in the crafting of an item that can't even be used in hardcore mode. They added it due to complaints of ancient cities not having enough unique loot but it feels like the devs just forgot that they exist. A couple more crafting recipes and the capability to use it as an armor trim color would make it a fine item in my eyes.
i always felt like a lot of areas in Minecraft really needed to have more innate features. everything is far too static. the desert and the forest are different only in name, really. this is a personal issue for me but it does come back to the problem: I never know where to base. I can't settle down, it's so hard. Why base anywhere when here and there are all the same? hurts my head. i knew what intrinsic and extrinsic motivation were, but I never linked these things in my head. I think you explained it really well.
you cant just make a youtube video saying "they should make these useless items useful by doing this" in a game with mod support and then not make a mod that makes the changes you want 😭😭😭
hilarious video, your opinions on the newer features of the game pretty much mirror my own and it's quite refreshing to see someone who knows a bit about game design actually talk about *why* these new features are being complained about instead of just shitting on the features with zero constructive criticism
I was gonna click off to youtube's main page when i caught with, like, the cornery corner of my eye how this channel has like 170 subs, so i come back to sub and i decided to, like, check your channel out, y'know? and... like... HOW ON EARTH IS THIS YOUR FIRST VID??? HELLO??? THIS IS 10K sub quality wtf??? anyhoo great video, your changes remind me a lot of how terraria's progression and items work
I'd like if the sniffers found a plant in every biome, it would give a great incentive to the adventure aspect. maybe instead of just a decorative achievement item they found preserved cuttings or something that you graft together in a crafting table create a bunch of unique plants with different uses
The "Function over Form" update. A lower resource update just focusing on making previous mobs feel more natural in the world and having more of a use than "this thing pretty". Could maybe feed polar bears fish and they'll help you with combat in the water. Like dogs you can take with you on the go but you got to make sure you got resources to keep feeding them before they turn aggressive again. If Mojang weren't cowards they'd take something like the Fox or something and let you feed it and have it drop manure and when you right click the manure on tilled soil it makes plants grow faster there.
Hey there! Just wanted to say that I really like your video! However, I do disagree and agree in some fronts. 5:30 First of, mountains are actually kinda useful gameplay wise, mostly because if you go mining in a cave, obviously you can find emeralds there, but also the higher you go, the more iron (and coal if I'm not wrong) will generate :D. There's also the fact you will find most of the time Ancient Cities under them, since there's alot more room for the structure to spawn! 8:14 Secondly, I will say that I do think *some* of those structures do feel nice in their gameplay. I mean, you need prismarine for the whole Conduit structure and sponges in general for the Ocean Monuments as an example. But I do agree that maybe they should just add a little more in each (Illusioners in Woodlands Mansions plz omg). 10:25 Thirdly... hey don't bully foxes why would you do that :(. But seriously, I personally think it's fine that foxes are just *worst wolves* because you don't actually tamed them, they just learn to trust you, BUT I do think adding something for them could be cool, like for example they could eat the meat of the animal and let you have the rest of the loot from the dead mob or they could steal stuff somehow idk ;-;". And for the Goat Horns... I mean it's kinda mostly useful in multiplayer if you can't vc someone so you can communicate by horns or smth, but I do see your point there. 13:33 Fourthly, I do like the whole concept of smithing small mecanics into your armor, but I do see some problems there. For the Torch Flower Emblem™, I think the only reasons why they haven't added a *optifine lighting* mechanic yet is because they probably want to make it work like actual light, like a torch, so probably might be difficult to do. I will explains more on the other ideas deeper in this comment. 15:20 I do really like the idea you gave for the fletching table, but however I will disagree with some of your ideas of arrows (mostly the piercing arrow one rn); my major issue with this idea is we already have the piercing enchants for crossbows, so it would make them irrelevant since we already have that in Minecraft. And the tnt arrow one could be cool, I think we should put it on a Fire Rocket instead, since that feats the theming and it would make the crossbow a bit more useful imo. 15:42 I feel like The Horn Crest™ is cool, but also knowing that the Knockback enchants isn't really famously used makes me doubt that the grand majority of people would use it. 15:49 Ew why would you want players to collect slime frogs why should we add MUCUS to minecraft 💀. But I do like the idea of having frogs being useful; me personally I had the idea of just making them drop their legs when they die and we could brew them for Jump Boosts and make the Rabbit Foot brew Chance potions! I also think the whole "you heal and are faster on slimeblock" idea is kinda weird and I don't think weird and also probably only usable in very niche situations but idk I don't like it. 16:12 Personally I really think the whole guardians droping their thorns isn't really a good idea, even if I do like the concept of them dropping that. My biggest issue is mostly that would make them have to much loot. What I mean is guardians already can drop up to technically 3-4 items... but because one of them is any random fish (cods, clown fish, etc.), it would mean they can drop already up to 6 ITEMS. And it gets even worst with the elder guardians. So adding a new item to their loot table just seems to much imo. Also, the Guardian Arrows idea is cool, but I feel like it would make Tridents less useful since that's one of their main mecanics. (But I won't lie I do want to make tridents more easily to get, pls Mojang just give us the Drown loot table from Bedrock we want more Tridents 🙏) 16:42 Even if I do want to say "yeah that's a good idea", the main problem of the Rabbits Padding is that it makes the leather boot' mechanics of being able to walk on powdered snow kinda irrelevant because we could just have leather boots but better. 17:50 Honnestly I really like this idea, but I do have to say that I don't like the mecanic of *the better is the food, the better the ore*. I think them just going torwards rarer ore veins (aka not coal, copper and iron) could be cooler to see, and in exchange we could add more possible food! Fruits, spider eyes and the proposed Frog legs I talked about earlier because real life bats do eat them, but also maybe chicken and rabbit, or even leaves! Not only would it make accurate to real life bats, but also I think that could legitimately be a great idea! 18:12 Honnestly, I don't hate the idea, BUT I do think we should add like idk something that would make them have *bigger* spits like a given item, mostly because I don't see a god damn lama being able to beat like 3-5 zombies on it's own. 18:35 Yeah the panda idea is extremely goofy tbh. I do like the idea of a panda charm, like they could maybe be used on their own, but the Panda Whisperer Charm sounds again very goofy. Not only would the stats buff diminish using Beacons in Jungles, making the animals of the Jungle actually fight for you is imo a bit too goofy. BUT maybe instead you could use one of those charms for like telling a random animal to attack the closest mob nearby or smth like that idk. Alright, enough with the disagreement! I do really like your other proposition you give, like the idea of the Fletching Table is really good and I really like it; it could even be used for making arrows with potion easier, or like I proposed, make also fireworks modification since it's technically a crossbow ammo. I also do agree on, for example, making echo shards more useful by adding at least another crafting recipe, and also the Sniffer needs more plants and the said plants to be actually useful >:(. But then again, we can't really control what Mojang end up doings since their the ones who ultimately decides what to do with the game, so we just have to hope that one day Minecraft gets into it's perfect state!
the idea ive always had for the sniffer plants is to make pitcher plants damage bugs (because thats what they do in real life) and torchflowers could damage undead monsters because idk
I have an idea for the sniffer that would reintroduce some old plants (such as the rose) and dye colors by having exclusive seeds grow flowers that would then be able to craft the forgotten dyes; not only that, but the sniffer would also be able to dig up clovers which you could use to finally obtain the previously creative exclusive Luck and Bad Luck effects
I like this spunky young lad! He indeed brings a rather jubilantly humorous spirit to the topic of this “mined-craft”! I have found myself in a state of exuberance with this moving picture, as a token of gratitude I have lended my support and have thusly subscribed to this fellow, good show, jolly good show indeed!
Bro spent the first half of the video building up good argument and exposing his game design skill and then fumbled all the way down in the second part 💀
another thing I really hate with new additions is they rarely call back to old mechanics. we get a new item like the brush and "oh uh... make it with copper i guess cause we also just added that", like why not just string or wool or iron?? it'd be nice if we weren't forced to interact with every new thing they add just to experience a small side thing they also added in the same update. it's sort of like when they were first adding bundles and made the recipe rabbit skins... like... just why?
For the adding functionality to certain things, why not make pitcher plants attract hostile mobs and damage them? Pitcher plants in real life pretty much do the same thing so it would be a neat thing to add.
the echo shard example is the most egregious and speaks to the games biggest development issue imo. developers will add so many things that don’t interact with the rest of the game, making the additions feel like theyre stuck in a vacuum instead of part of a larger world
I like to say that it lacks a "purpose"
There is a reason: to update the game, attract more players and make money. But it seems that certain things don't have a "purpose" within the game, they only exist because the players can interact with them.
@@caracol764it reminds me of the times I tried writing stuff. Added too many characters into the story, and then…
"Emm… what do I do with them now?"
A couple of things here.
1. Polar bears were never supposed to be in the game and the only reason they are is because Jens’ wife thought they were cute.
2. The sniffer was supposed to have at least 3 different plant drops, but they got cancelled because someone leaked them :(
Echo shards should be used as armour trim colours just like resin

I like that since the whole point of the sniffer is to dig up "ancient flowers" it would also be digging up "ancient colours" with it, neat idea!

17:38 the chomper fits well thematically with the pitcher plant as they're both carnivorous, I'd like that side of the pitcher plant to be explored.
I'd argue that every block has a purpose. Minecraft is a sandbox game so anything that can be used creatively has a purpose
modern Minecraft just feels like old Minecraft with a bunch of bad, half baked mods
Minecraft It is more enjoyable when you set your own goals, because there are no good incentives to do x mission.

The echo shard could easily be used for some other stuff like armour trims but it just isn’t which is very frustrating.
ive been thinking about a crazy idea recently where like. instead of trying to kill the warden or run away you have to sneak up behind it and like.
Love it! Calming and respecting the protector of an ancient city lost to time sounds awesome!
The Warden is meant to be feared and avoided, if you’re stealthy for long enough it goes away and stops protecting the sculk. The entire goal is to make something that the player doesn’t want to meet, that’s why it doesn’t drop anything valuable. That’s why there’s no achievement for killing it.
@HobGobbity
Stop posting this argument.
I had thought of an Echo Glass block that, if powered by redstone, lets you X-Ray through any adjacent block
It could let you see mobs through blocks, which while not super useful, would allow you to spot creepers a little earlier.
Wellll if we really wanna lean into the idea of intended motivation and progression, maybe it could guide you to trail ruins and other hard to spot ancient structures, since echo shards do have some connection to the past.
Or maybe an entirely new structure like the stronghold, that you’re meant to find with it in particular:3

the sniffer was the perfect opportunity for them to create the biggest kind of crazy shit with flowers but they don't do anything

The sniffer has the chance to be literally the BEST source of nature decorations from making gardens to mystical caves or forests. . . But instead all we got were two plants with not much to make them better than the plants we already have aside from looking unique which isn't much
Yes! Antient tree type, antient crop with some minor boosts and so much more was possible, but all we got is puny two flowers...
HEAR ME OUT: Ancient grass blocks and trees so you could make an entire sniffer biome
@@deletedaccount7 there was supposed to be a 3th plant type that kinda looked like vines with flowers. It got leaked and mojang never added it after. Such a shame because It was the most interesting one of the plants, even if it was just decoration.
Imagine a being with the name “Sniffer” specialize on Sniffing but able to Sniff up only 2 kinds of plants.
THIS. 12:08 The flower part is so real. I had to travel 3000 blocks diagonally to find 16 white tulips on a non-elytra server. Then when I finished using them, I realized I needed pink tulips too 😭
(I have yet to get my pink tulips)
If it is a server this could be solved with an Economy. I don't think any flower is that rare in singleplayer tho
yeah it’s a server.
A video essay that has YTP's included? Sign me the fuck up.

We need something like "Better Than Armadillos" mod 🙏
i often have conversations with my friend about what they should add to minecraft and it always ends with "isn't it crazy how much better minecraft would be if we were in charge"
all great ideas none of which will happen because mojang is contractually obligated to only work 30 minutes a day on updates.
Fun fact, im pretty sure that llamas already do that but only with wandering traders, ive seen llamas fight zombies to protect the wandering trader
the problem is the lack of intrinsic features surrounding the core game loop of getting resources with mending making getting new stuff useless, some minerals not even having a use of them being able to be exploited/farmed/duped to get way more like iron, mob drops and other minerals
not to mention both the lack of side resources and uses for them. ancient cities should have exp related items, maybe a barrel of exp with 30 levels of storage or a vial of experience that puts all your levels in a single bottle
llamas as range units is something that would make minecraft 10 times better fr
They should add MORE USEFUL FARMING STUFF LIKE Farmers Delight or Pam's Harvest craft I love those 2 mods

I have an idea:
-You take two nautilus shells and one goat horn.

5:48
Ok, I got a bit of a defense for the mountains.
A few loose ideas:
- Bears are known for eating a bunch before hibernating, so maybe you can shear polar bear fur and smith it onto armor to decrease your hunger drain?
Polar bears shed. If Mojang wanted to do something like the bison/powdered snow mechanic, they could use polar bears.
The goat horn should cause your tamed dogs to stand or sit. If pillagers get to assemble an army at the sound of a horn we should be able to too
Funny enough the 3 major extrinsic exploration structures you brought up, I've got plans for in my survival data pack, which is focused on enhancing the game by improving the more lackluster parts of it.
This was really well done and your ideas are pretty awesome and have helped me find some more!
Power ups that only activate when standing within a certain biome is a pretty neat idea. A way to grant amazing bonuses while also holding off power creep, and gives more depth to where you decide to make your base and what armor you're wearing.
such a good video with great humour. Subscribed!
Some other things I feel should be mentioned:
Meat(pretty much every mob should have a meat drop, or at least every passive as that has been shown in the past and would help make it more interesting.)
Mob interactions(there's what, like 4 or something? They help make a game much more alive and having so few makes them feel kind of... off imo.)
Also something I was REALLY hoping for with the sniffer was being able to get the only two removed dyes and maybe even removed flowers. That would be such a unique thing to do imo and would add so much value.
Bro kept spitting out countless excellent vanilla-style ideas one after the other
Your editing and style are so funny, I haven't laughed at a RUclips video in so long.
(Plus the loot is supposed to make sense and help you piece together what the buildings were back in the day.)
Sniffers look nice, but I do agree that the flowers could be a little more worth the time or be in more variety.
The mountains in an infinite world game do not need to be the most exciting useful adventure, this is a world that we are meant to explore and see the beauty of. Some people would love to build a cabin on a mountain, others would like to blow it up for ores.
the problem with minecraft is that they keep adding stuff without looking back time to time, if they only worked more with what they have
The game is a sandbox game, the reason to explore the sandbox is to gather the materials to make what you want. If the stuff in the deep dark, Trail Ruins or mountains doesn't interest you then you don't need to go there. But if you want explicit value here you go.
Mountains Have emeralds in them also more Iron and Coal spawn higher up so they are a good place to stop if you need some.
Powdered Snow works to create hidden walls and or traps
Trail Ruins work as a way to gather lots of rare or annoying blocks to get on mass like Terracotta Mud Bricks and regular Bricks without finding the biome they're linked too.
You have a point about the sniffer, polarbear, rabbit hide, and fetching table but the rest are things where you are either unaware of or ignoring the utilities of.
i once Raided 7 ancient city to find the armor trim slience, to not find it and log back in the next day and see someone who find two silence trim in one ancient city first try
and all i have is more then a stack of useless echoshard, ton of broken discs, and more swift sneak books then the server will ever need.
At least it gave me the idea to build a redstone shop to "sell the item" but it's more like a fancy storage solution.
But yeah i feel the same for a lot of item/block, as you mention the sniffer giving 2 flowers that don't even has special use or different suspicious stew
frog light are very good building block but you need to find frog in everybiome get them to the nether and build a farm.
That's why you should pirate and mod the game. they don't give a fuck

For a modern video critiquing Minecraft, this was surprisingly smart, positive, and thought-out.
Going back to the Sniffer, it's said to "dig up plants from ancient times"
IT COULD VERY WELL BRING THE ROSE BACK, EVEN IF IT'S JUST DECORATIVE
This is literally my humor. definitely subbed
Bats are actually really useful since if you hear one while mining, that means you're near an actual cave
Yeah swift sneak being IN the ancient city is the most counter-Intuitive thing imo
UNDERRATED (please find a way to make this a mod)
5:54 they used to have goats be able to drop mutton which is better than nothing at least but they removed it for no apparant reason
That glow armor is actually genius, someone needs to make a full mod of that or a server plugin
Remember, goats used to have copper horns. A tune-able instrument that also incorporates copper in its recipie.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaand, they removed it.
Can’t wait for more I love your editing style
I really love the idea of a charm system in mc, it would make armor customization and in general it would also make the gameplay more dynamic

i always felt like a lot of areas in Minecraft really needed to have more innate features.
everything is far too static. the desert and the forest are different only in name, really.
this is a personal issue for me but it does come back to the problem: I never know where to base.
HELLO??? THIS IS 10K sub quality wtf??? anyhoo great video, your changes remind me a lot of how terraria's progression and items work
All of the ideas you suggested were awesome! I hope that mojang can come around and add more stuff, by using what we already have!
The silly gun stick men make me chuckle
I'd like if the sniffers found a plant in every biome, it would give a great incentive to the adventure aspect. maybe instead of just a decorative achievement item they found preserved cuttings or something that you graft together in a crafting table create a bunch of unique plants with different uses
This is one of the funniest videos I’ve seen all year
you know a video is good when its edited well and its the only one on their channel (genuine)
(But I won't lie I do want to make tridents more easily to get, pls Mojang just give us the Drown loot table from Bedrock we want more Tridents 🙏)
16:42 Even if I do want to say "yeah that's a good idea", the main problem of the Rabbits Padding is that it makes the leather boot' mechanics of being able to walk on powdered snow kinda irrelevant because we could just have leather boots but better.
Also I just realised it's your first video, and DAMN I am impressed! You've earned a subscriber :)
Bro i loved this video, it was hilarious, keep on the great content
the idea ive always had for the sniffer plants is to make pitcher plants damage bugs (because thats what they do in real life) and torchflowers could damage undead monsters because idk
Great idea! Tying the Luck and Bad Luck effects into it is the extrinsic cherry on top!
This is like the first video that actually criticizes minecraft, and offers improvements that doesn't just turn it into diet Terraria.
The creaking update only provides us with decoration as rewards. Resin needs more uses.
Agreed!
