I developed a huge taste for Tangerine Dream, Can, Neu, Kraftwerk, Ozric Tentacles and the like growing up, and could never pinpoint where I got the taste for it from (I'm normally far more of a classic rock guy than an electronic fan). I played Worms: Armageddon to absolute death as a kid. I'd set up death matches and play against myself when my mates or brothers weren't at hand, I'd leave the title screen running just because I loved the theme song. I used to draw worms on my books at school, and there wasn't a time between 1999 and 2003 that this soundtrack wasn't pumping out of the TV on an almost constant basis. In short, I was obsessed, and looking back the OST really does have a heavy ambient / krautrock vibe to it, and probably had a heavy subconscious impact on my future tastes. Listening back to this is bringing up some fierce memberberries.
The fun fact about this ambience music is - imagine its a game about worms fighting in a macro scale - you can hear various noises during the play - car traffic, real birds, wind, water, crow sounds, footsteps etc :D when i realized this it made this soundtrack even cooler :D
I know very little but one thing I do know is that the Worms Armageddon OST has aged stunningly well. The end can disrupt the vibes from the preceding tracks, but other times it seems like it is a perfect capstone climax. There's a lot of subtlety and other stuff isn't very subtle at all - great dynamics. Flows very well, perfect background music for a variety of activities. I hold this game's music in very high regard. Champion sound.
