Tuomas' love of nature and our world just spills out of his soul in this incredible composition. Then Floor adding her soaring vocals; it is just gorgeous.
Thank you for the brave choice! I often don't listen to a song that lasts 30 minutes, but if I know the composer, arranger or band, I want to listen to it. Nightwish and Tuomas Holopainen is something that cannot be ignored.
Congratulations ladies for taking this one on... If you're not into nature, it can become boring, but what this piece of music does is to show what natural beauty we have on this place called earth. Unfortunately, quite a few across the world are trying their damn hardest to destroy what we have. This is a reminder of what we could eventually lose if we're not careful. Nice reactions.
Thank you for reacting to this. Not many do, due to its length, but I think a beautiful piece of music. I will never forget Floor doing the vocals for Ad Astra live at the close of Wembley in 2022.
wow, a rarely reacted song and you now know why 😉. Calm instrumentals, like these, are good for listening while doing something else, like driving, hiking, learning or just chilling. Almost also worked as a lullaby for Donna😎
Not surprised, he did instrumentals before. Only shorter. :-) The last song of this 2nd cd (Ad Astra) was the closing act on their last tour. Still gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.
Not bad for a fan video, eh? I remember the second time I watched it, my daughter came in when it had only recently started, sat down beside me and watched the whole thing from there in silence. The two of us, captivated.
Thank you so much for reacting to this amazing composition. It truly showcases Tuomas's genius as a composer. My favorite movements are Quiet as the Snow and Ad Astra. As someone who grew up in northern Vermont I spent many hours in the winter playing in the woods or on the ski slopes and Tuomas has perfectly captured the hushed quiet of the woods in winter time. With the animals all hibernating or migrated to the south the snow dampens what little sound remains. Hearing Quiet as the Snow takes me back to my childhood. The spoken words section in Ad Astra is from Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot. Sagan was part of the imagery team for Voyager 1 and convinced the team to maneuver the spacecraft to take a picture of Earth as Voyager was leaving our solar system in 1990. The famous photograph shows the Earth as a single pale blue dot set against the vastness of space. The photograph inspired Sagan to write a book of the same name in 1994. In the book, Sagan mixes philosophy about the human place in the universe with a description of the current knowledge about the Solar System. The quote is from a section where Sagan is talking about the impact of the photograph. How it makes Earth seem insignificant yet how critical it is for us humans. Since there is no other home for us in the near future we need to learn to get along and care for our only home. When I saw Nightwish live in 2022 Ad Astra was the closing song (after Last Ride of the Day, Ghost Love Score, and The Greatest Show on Earth). The band took their bows while the music and spoken word played and then stood in a line while Floor sang those choral vocals to end the show. Of note the way the song's music an vocals resolve at the end might indicate that humanities future is can go either way but Earth and Nature will go on. The whole concert was magical and the end with Ad Astra was so powerful and uplifting you left wanting to go live your life to the fullest.
Tuomas' master piece again. I love his work, he is genious, our metal Mozart. So talented human being. Waiting for his 10th Nightwish album this year 🤘😎
This is fantastic! I use this to relax. Just "floating" with the music. And I'm Lorna Shore, Shadow of Intent, Slaughter to Prevail type of girl.... but Nightwish is the love of my life, my "guilty pleasure", been since 1998 when I saw them live for the first time ❤
she also performed this in Antwerp. Breathtaking after a 2 hour performance and yet to deliver something like that, there are no words for it, something to never forget.🤟🏻🤟🏻🎶🎶
I bet you were surprised of this being an instrumental & in fact one might say this is Tuomas' solo project in classical music and(or a soundtrack to one of David Attenborough's nature documentaries.
So glad that you watched this. It is a beautiful piece of music with a very special sentiment. This of course is disc 2 of the latest album Human II Nature. It's well worth listening to the first disc starting with the lyric video for "MUSIC".
This one does not get old, no matter how often you hear it. Beautiful to relax. The footage is not from Nightwish (it is fan made), but it is approved by Tuomas.
I always get a strong feel of Beethoven's 6th pastoral symphony in some parts and other classical composers with this piece. Love how Tuomas uses all parts of the symphony with lots of harp throughout. Floor's vocals, and Troy's pipes add to the piece at times with the choir voices. The final soaring vocals from Floor are amazing in Ad Astra. The visuals add so much to the understanding of the musical themes.
Interesting, the calming effect, Lulu smiling, Donna slow blinks. Not knowing what to expect... When is Floor going to sing? This fan video really manages to capture the essence of the music. Tuomas letting us know about imagination (Painted Ash, making falling leaves go upwards). Did you recognise any of the landscapes? Tuomas liked the video too! Lulu "Very calming" :) Aurora! Timelapse, makes you want to go extreme North, or South (to the magnetic poles). Many words for "Snow". The actress Geraldine James as the narrator. The words of Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot". Floor! at last!
The person who put together this (unofficial fan made) video from stock footage did an excellent job of bringing Tuomas' music to life visually. It so accurately portrays each section of this musical masterpiece.
Very nice one ladies. Superb music by the master composer with love for nature. This one is mandatory once a week for me. Just glide away in my chair en enjoy it. Mostly with my headphones on. If Kathy loves nature tell her she has to listen/watch. I love nature that's why I love this piece so much.
This entire video is not official, as there is no official video. Thie entire masterpiece of visuals was fan made. Tuomas has already stated tat he 100% approves of the hard work this fan did. We all thank them.
Haven't heard this before. Waiting for the music and singing to sound like Nightwish....., four minutes in, still waiting. Starts to sound more like Nightwish from 15 minutes.
Bet you didn't know you liked classical music, did you? Tuomas composes masterworks every time he sits down with pen in hand. We're looking forward to the new album, to see where he takes us this time. The release date hasn't been announced yet, but their social media accounts have been dropping hints of an announcement for a couple of days now.
"Yesterwynde", September 20th 2024. First music video: "Perfume of the timeless", May 21, 2024. At first I was speechless, gob-smacked! They are back (John Wick).
Breath taking. What can you say about Tuomas? We only get a glimpse of his brilliance through his music. The guy is truly amazing. How fortunate we all are to have found his work. Add the musicians and singers and you get magic.
To me - this might be the best and most meaningful piece of music Tuomas have ever created.
Another grand masterpiece
Tuomas' love of nature and our world just spills out of his soul in this incredible composition.

This teaches us to love and look after our planet.

I wonder how many people were surprised by this second c d. The same person that wrote Ghost Love Score , Greatest Show, Shoemaker and more.

At the end of the concerts, on youtube Hellfest and Deichbrand, (i prefer Deichbrand) Floor sings 'ad astra' live. You will be amazed.
