ASICS Novablast 2 were my 7th and Gel Nimbus 24 my 8th. BOTH offerings are SPECTACULAR for this 58 year old 3x per week 5K jogger! I own Saucony, Hoka, Nike and finally ASICS. IMO for me, ASICS are far and away superior over any highly rated shoe I’ve owned. ASICS is clearly in it to win it! BRAVO!
And you said this before the super blast and nimbus 25!! Asics are top drawer 👍
Just bought a pair of Nimbus 24 as beginner runner. The colour injection looks awesome - was really pleased when took it out of box. In terms of wearing. Super comfortable- really feels like walking on air. I have no hesitation recommending it - particularly if you have a few pounds to lose and want something that gives you comfort and stability
I ordered a pair it’s tts yes?
The problem with so many of the newer midsole compounds over the last few years, is that when put into traditional neutral shoes, they are just slightly unstable. So the industry is basically creating a need for a larger group of shoes which are neutral with a splash of stability. Examples of problem neutral shoes: Rebel V2, Ricons (after 200KM), NovaBlast V1. I've found that plates in the cushioned compounds provides the needed medial stability, but most of us don't like doing all our runs in plated shoes. I just ordered a pair of Mizuno WaveRider 25, with the hopes it can eat up daily and LR miles, give me decent cushioning and provide medial stability without feeling like a traditional "stability" shoe. Another system that has provided me great medial stability is the Adidas torsion system used in shoes like the Adios 6, giving me the medial stability with more mid/forefoot freedom to flex and allow the calves to work normally.
I had thought about trying the Gel Nimbus 24, but I had concerns with the combination of Gel and FFBlast+ providing a bit too much difference to feel natural.
I've actually never owned a pair of ASICS for running since my youth but I keep circling around the Cumulus. I think this will be the year I finally pull the trigger once the Cumulus 24 comes out.
Edit: got the Cumulus 24s and am in love! Softer than I expected them to be and while not exciting, they are competent. No weird pains or fit issues. Very good as a softer standard daily trainer. Not as soft as the 1080 but still comfortable.
Did a couple of runs in it. Extremely comfortable. Feels a bit hot in the summer. Does not feel heavy (surprisingly) and does work very well for heel striker and good at recovery run up to just under Tempo speed. Quality is amazing.
Effectively was my first shoe. Was running in ASICS before they had Nimbus and Cumulus. Love their shoes
Nice!
I can’t even see them for sale in the U.K.
i loved my 20s but the 22 i couldn’t get the right fit. Now you making these sound 👌
Looking forward to the Glideride 3, should be awesome with that midsole.
Yeah hopefully not long now
Great video Chris. Nice looking shoe. Never tried Asics would like to though
Great shoes
Nimbus 6 was my first proper ASICS shoe when I got serious in running (before that I was on the Nike Air Skylon range). Got 2 pairs. Most models after that were mostly underwhelming that I can’t remember a really good one after that. Till the 23 knit and perhaps this 24 is touted to be better, but I’ve yet to try it.
I must agree with you it does feel like it bottoms out a little in the forefoot and the novablast feels more cushioned and bouncy compared to the nimbus 24. Although I do enjoy both shoes
GREAT VIDEO. THANK YOU.
My very first running shoe was indeed the Gel Nimbus 19. Put a bunch of miles into it before deciding I needed more midsole stack and moved to the Nike Epic React but did also get the Gel Nimbus 20 for a bit before converting that to my regular non-running shoe.
Ah the epic react that was a cool shoe
Mine are still bouncy after 650km even though the exposed parts start to shred. I baby them now and only take them out on nice, sunny, fluffy Sunday morning long runs.
Is sizing tts plz answer man good video
Really enjoyed the 22. Haven't had the same heart for the 23. Found it heavier, stiffer, less wide foot friendly, less responsive and tiring on longer and gentle runs. Nice to see they have made some good changes but it is a shame they have decided to make it even narrower. Still got too many miles left in the 23's because of this to even consider giving the 24's a go.
They offer wide models now
Novablast narrow in the forefoot for me. I hope the Nimbus 24 is wider in the midfoot and toe area?
Hi Fordy great review as always 👍 one question how the outsole durability?
It’s ASICS probs last til 2929
@@FordyRuns 😂😂 thanks 👍
Novablast 3 or Nimbus 24 for everyday walking and jogging? 🤗🤗🤗
Just ordered a pair on sale from Start Fitness, I hope I'm not disappointed 🤔
Please Compare - ASICS Gel Kinsei blast BETWEEN Gel Nimbus 24 Which is the BEST in both of them.
I'd love to see that comparison too!
Chris, Would you recommend the Novablast 2 for a marathon? Thank you. Ken
It’s not for me but I know a lot of runners who love them so give it a try
My first Tiger's/asics were tiger g9s they use to cop a absolute canning at school running, rideing bikes and skateboards best shoe ever not much foam in them though not sure if I could run in them now 😂
Ah man those things would have broke your knees if you ran in them 🤣🤣🤣
@@FordyRuns at that age nothing hurts 😂
It depends on the shoe store i went to fleet feet in the us, first timers 80% walked out with brooks
Fordy...you forgot to mention there are two foams in the shoe. There's a top layer of flytefoam which should help to have a more stable ride as blast + is pretty soft, it's not the trustic system. The trustic system stabilizes the rotation of the shoe inwards preventing over pronating for those longer efforts. Novablast 2 is built with one foam compound, different geometries, 8mil drop, medial of the shoe is pretty thin compared to Nimbus 24, no trustic system... I mean, it has nothing to do with the Nimbus 24, having the same midsole compound doesn't determine both shoes are the same, there are far more elements in a shoe that make it for various purposes and runners.
Thanks for the feedback
Yeah, the Nimbus 24 has 16 mm stack high in the forefoot and 26mm in the heel . It seems low when compared with most high cushioning shoes from other brands.
ASICS does not count their insole. The stack is way higher than what you're saying trust me.
I've been running for about 12 years. Nimbus wasn't my first but 3rd or 4th for sure.
I think we’ve all had a pair at one time 🤣
Is it the gel in the forefoot that’s giving you a ‘bottoming out’ feel Chris?
Hmmm good point bro see how we get on with more miles
Hi Fordy.
Between nimbus 24 and glideride 3.
Which is faster?
I just prefer GR3
When are these out in uk? Can't see them anywhere
Anytime soon
Is it just me who has noticed at the start of 2022 ASICS suddenly has wide versions of the nimbus and kayano and cumulus?
Not saying you're wrong because it could be regional, but as an EXTRA WIDE footed person all 3 of those shoes have been on my radar for a couple of years now. The options across all brands are very limited in 4E width but ASICS and New Balance has the most options for wider feet.
I'm actually surprised the Nimbus 24 doesn't come in 4E but maybe it'll expand the offerings in the future.
@@mdsmith1019 is now offered in 4E in stealth black look pretty nice, I might pick one up.
I have this shoe and it's brilliant. Just a perfect daily cruiser.
I loved a lot about this shoe, but at the end of the day it didn’t work for me.
Price?
I love this one
Colourway is a bit 🤦♂️
Asics has introduced a dozen new models in the last 3 years, yet refuse to take the old dog out behind the barn. Case in point, they have a better version of THIS shoe out in it‘s third iteration!
whats better the nimbus or the cumulus???
