These writers really did superman wrong in this animation series, they kept contradicting themselves with their own story, if any rock can kill superman I don't think there's a need for kryptonite.
You must be joking. Pre-Crisis Mongul used to beat on Silver Age Superman like he was a drum. Also, this is from the JL Cartoon, which is over twenty years old at this point. He was weakened significantly in season 1 because the writers thought it would lead to more dramatic tension.
