You must be joking. Pre-Crisis Mongul used to beat on Silver Age Superman like he was a drum. Also, this is from the JL Cartoon, which is over twenty years old at this point. He was weakened significantly in season 1 because the writers thought it would lead to more dramatic tension.

Prior to that, Mongul tanked a full assault from pre-Crisis Superman and then put Supes down for the count. Superman never got a decisive victory over Mongul and definitely not via brute force.
