  • With over 30 species of scorpions inhabiting the Sonoran Desert, Arizona is a prime location for scorpion hunting. Come along as I take a blacklight out into the desert at night in search of these magnificent creatures.

This guy in the yellow shirt has taken a punch 👊 to the face or just broke his nose 👃 once or twice without having it reset properly?
That's obvious. Perhaps just to me as a boxer of sorts? The mate might wanna have it rebroken and set?
For breathing, snoring, sleep apnea issues? It was a right cross, maybe? I'd have it reset just so no one would guess, knowing by looks, judge of things, and threatening you later? I'm just saying.
    Each their own.
On a separate note, I once told a guy to get his eyes checked because one of them didn't reflect light like a raccoons eye in the night in a photo. Only one of his did. He listened. Got it checked out. It was a mild brain tumor that they'd have never caught being so early.
    He sends me postcards.
    Stay safe. 👍'd and subscribed.

Just bought a black light for this very reason. My dad was stung by a bark scorpion while visiting us last week. We've since found nearly twenty inside the house. Though they're cool arachnids, I'm concerned that our small dogs are going to come across one and try to play with it. We just found another in our primary bathroom a bit ago!

Since you found that many, unfortunately, it sounds like an infestation. An exterminator would be a good option. As scorpions are resilient, they take the approach of sealing off every crack and crevice rather than blasting them with chemicals.
I spent a good amount of time years ago catching them at my sister’s place. I think I removed over 200.
Dogs usually aren’t interested, but if they do get stung, it can cause respiratory issues. Cats are unaffected, and are great at taking care of scorpion problems, but if you only have dogs, definitely best to hire someone right away.
Are you sure it was a bark scorpion? They have long, narrow tails with long segments, whereas other species have bulbous tails with shorter, round segments.
Also, try putting fly paper down on the outside of all doors. Door sills are a common entry point for scorpions.

@@ReganOutdoors I figured as much! 😫 We’ve had an exterminator come out four times in the last two months. They took care of the inside and outside of the home. I went online and purchased a special spray for around the windows etc. It sucks because I don’t mind them, but after my dad was stung, it was a rude awakening.
Our dogs are both under 15lbs. - One being only 3lbs. I don’t want them to try to play with a bark scorpion. 😫 Our largest was trying to mess with one in the backyard.
Our pest control guy confirmed that they’re bark scorpions, and I’ve posted pictures of them to Reddit as well. If they’re wrong, I’d be so relieved!! 😂
We’ll only be here for a few more months, but I’m hoping to remedy the situation… even if just a bit! 🦂
I’m excited to go out with the black light. I’m going to use all your tricks. 😂

Does the Nano Meter matter when detecting? I have a 850NM and a 940NM.

Loving your videos man! Super jealous you can go scorpion hunting locally (I live in the midwest). I may take a trip to Arizona someday just to do this and some 4x4 trail riding.

It’s definitely awesome! That and rattlesnakes. I have a few close encounters every season! If you make it out this way, hit me up. I know some great trials, and am always stoked to show people around and do some scorpion hunts!

The scorpions start coming out in April, but late May would be prime season. Hot but not unbearable, and plenty of scorpions at night. I know some great spots where the huge ones (giant desert hairy scorpions) hang out.

Ran into a bark scorpion in a course tailings pile yesterday. "Jumped" out and took off, scared the tar outta me when i grabbed the cobble it was hiding in.

Wow mate, you really got some great footage using the Sony ZV1, no flicker at all. It’s amazing how Scorpions glow under Black U.V. light, I don’t quite understand the reasoning. I use a similar test on Rubies, under black light the Chromium gets excited a gives off a vivid Pink, that’s how you can tell where in the world they are from or whether they are possibly lab created. The big black one at the end was very defensive wasn’t he, see the guy run, haha. Great 🎵🎶 you incorporated seamlessly into your production. Looking forward to the next episode. Rog. ✨

Thanks so much Rog! Though the Sony doesn’t have the same stability as my go pro, I definitely prefer it for its image quality. I was so happy I made the switch for my main camera.
I had no idea! That’s such a cool way to detect the whether a Ruby is genuine or not! That is so cool! I owe you a rock video soon. It’s heating up here, but I’m determined to make another!
