- After taking a little time in Dallas to breathe the time has come. The search is on to find my new home.
This week we start with a vehicle not many know about, but I've heard about from attending many Overland Expo's. So let's see what all the fuss is about.

You just gave a whole new definition to "Flipping Your Home" lol You're alive, young and I think smart. You've got the whole world in front of you. In my class I teach my students that failure is just a stepping stone to success. You'll do fine. I stopped buying vehicles from car lots decades ago. I only buy used. And I look for Fleet Vehicles. They are always well maintained and come with all records.
Fleet vehicles are always a great purchase! The used car market is really tough right now
So it’s almost take what you can get.
Failure is a stepping stone to make you appreciate the goodness ahead
Listen to the overland pod cast and his thoughts when he took the grenadier across Africa. He loved it and didn’t have a single problem with it
I’ve actually had conversations with Scott about grenadier and other vehicles.
He definitely knows overland rigs
Stick with TOYOTA
Yep, don’t be blinded by the, “bling.”
INEOS...Is French...not known for relability.
Yeah, all those features are nice, till they stop working . Thing could turn into an electrical nightmare.
Toyota has always treated me well
@ Yep, and Toyota’s can be repaired about anywhere in the world.
I’m not a Big Toyota person Sloane. In saying that the reliability of the Toyota vs other vehicles is hard to beat. Stay away from Turbocharged vehicles if possible… Premium fuel ⛽️ and just more crap to break. Stick with large displacement naturally aspirated engines running 87 octane. 💰savings..Mx costs etc etc. Love the channel 👍
That’s all really good information to keep in mind.
Thank you so much
Upsize to Toyota Tundra. Safer and done right, they plant rubber to the ground better than others as they are wider, many are more rollover prone.
I totally hear you on this one.
Love the Inios!!! Get the TrialMaster. That would be rad! Green is gorgeous. ❤
Just get the extended warranty and drive the heck out of it.
They are great vehicles and so much fun to drive. It for sure feels like a tank which is awesome.
Sloane forgot to tell you that the Turbocharged V6 in the Tundra is a no go. Toyota is having major issues with the Turbocharged V6. My oldest daughter has a 2020 4 runner with the 4.0 v6. Good motor.
Yeah the new Toyotas are having serious issues which is so sad because they’ve been so reliable for so many years
You have already shown that you can rise above adversity, and I am confident that you will continue to shine brightly. Ya has demostrado que puedes superar la adversidad, y estoy seguro de que seguirás brillando con fuerza.
Thank you so much! We will continue to charge forward and find our way back
Clean up your room girlfriend. Your mum has a beautiful home 🏡 ❤️. Your lucky to have her. 😢 I miss my mum every day. Ps the dogs 🐕 look really good, clean, groomed, and HAPPY. You look really pretty just natural,. 😊
awww thank you so much. I tend to not wear any make up just a little glitter to brighten the day even more. Don't worry the room got cleaned up. I finally admitted I was staying awhile and things needed to be washed and put into the cabinet.
Howdy girl! Food for thought..been to Africa six times and Toyotas are everywhere! Lots of Landies as well but so much more trouble and cost. Would figure South America will be the same . May the force be wit ya!
yeah you are totally correct the Toyotas are for sure all over the place and a solid recognized vehicle.
Hola... Saludos. 👍 ✨
I completely agree with you! It’s a bringing back of the old defender 110 with just enough upgrade to feel new but no gimmicks 4x4
I’ve heard great things from everyone that has bought them for serious offroading
that's a gorgeous green color! interesting conversation about bed/roof weight. I guess you'll want to haul a teardrop camper or something behind you from now on.
Right?! The green is amazing but I think the beige is my favorite color. Definitely not wanting to haul anything want to stay low profile and capable to offroad anywhere
If you are really going to do Central and South America, you would be wise to purchase a F250 Ford diesel or a Toyota Tundra or Tacoma. Use the interior furnishing from your old camper top. Diesel is reliable in those countries but Pemex can be big problems.
There are definitely benefits to both.
7:23 that's awesome
Right?! They’re rowdy
❤ It's a pity that you don't take care to clean the camera lens so that the image doesn't look blurry.
I'm sorry it looks that way, I definitely cleaned it on multiple occasions. But will be sure to check on future filming.
She doesn't clean herself either. Months of no washing of her hair.
I hear ya on organizing and throw it all out. Said the same thing many times.
it's so hard, but sometimes easy to just start fresh
Never let on to the sales guy you LOVE the vehicle or anything about the vehicle. They will think they got you. When a dealer knows they got you on the vehicle thats when they know they can get you on other stuff.
that is probably very spot on. But I also love a lot of vehicles and I think they all knew I was very specific in my search.
by a used uhaul 10 foot box truck and cut a hole through the wall from cab to back and they are under 14k there is some vids of someone doing that same thing as well , I would do it and have tried to get a van from usa to canada but is too complicated so stopped,
that would be wild
People beat the Shit out of those u haul trucks and they are not reliable-did you see her last video?
@@20pawranch there is a maintenace paper with every box truck and milagge. apart from that they are a good buy for the buck. Many travellers like thed box tuck as its square and easy to build in. , very sturdy frame. .
Sloane..you are way too funny.. totally " out there "... I'm an antique female, 77yr old So Cal born and raised 60s vintage hippie living happily in an old cabin with wood stove in NE TX...I do recognize that old time " fly and be free " streak that you have...must be a Reincarnation of one of us...think your mom needs to be nominated for Sainthood...this whole trip has got to be secretly horrifying as a parent...you get a nice vehicle and go south of the border you WILL surely be "disappeared"..the days of those adventures being safe are OVER...do a bit of mental alchemy and perhaps seek a better path for yourself... with daily gratitude for surviving that wreck...just my perspective...enjoy the choices you make..jean 🌳🛀🌳⚖️
I definitely am one of those wild child goes to the beat of her own drum types. There is so much adventure out there just calling for me and I want to do it all. My mom should indeed he in sainthood as raising me was definitely no easy task. She is pretty stellar.
Well it looks like everything is turning around now and that's a good thing 🙂👍
It sure is! We are making steps in the right direction
Hi from Canada.Glad you are going forward .
Thank you so much.
Feels good to be making steps to getting my life back on track
hay Sloane,
When buying a car it's (unfortunately) always the same... which car is the best for me?😆
In any case, my best wishes and I'm excited to see which vehicle you'll choose...
...and yes, I would choose a Toyota - very good for a trip around the world! 🙂
and it shouldn't be a turbo, and not have too much new technology.
Totally correct here it is which car is right for me and what I’m setting out to do.
Which makes the options definitely narrow and something I have to really think about
@@searchingforsloane
👍
Don’t do it Sloan! After 6 months of ownership and three check engine lights, two tows and $1000’s in addition towing costs, I traded my Grenadier for LC250! Go for the Toyota, much better dealer network for around the world travel. Simple question; if and when you breakdown where do you find service?!
Oh my gosh! that is so horrible! I'm so sorry to hear you had bad luck with your grenadier. The LC 250 is really really nice. There are grenadier shops popping up all over the place. At least that I have noticed.
@ just do your research, ask the questions and if they say no problem, get it in writing! For me the last thing I needed is to have a computer glitch 3000 mile from dealership and trust me they are the only ones who can reset the system.
Hi Sloan 😊
Exciting day for you and your mom!!
First of all, you are gorgeous without any makeup; seriously!!
Second, I know you will, because you Rock, check out several vehicles, and do all the due diligence thingies!!
That way, when you make your decision, you will know you did your homework and made the best decision for you and your lifestyle; at least that works best for me.
Again, you got this GIRL!! 👍🫶🏻
Thank you so much! What a sweet comment to read means a lot.
I certainly will check out every vehicle and weigh all the options. There are soo many options
It’s good seeing you moving forward, full of positivity and still smiling. Toyota definitely make good over landing rigs so do the Land Rovers but when it comes to parts and repair places, Toyota is definitely got it the bag for factory parts as well as aftermarket parts in the sky is limit on how you wanna set it up . But like the one person said you can get it repaired anywhere. Can’t wait to see you an the dogs Hit the ground with four wheels and onto the next adventure.!
Thank you so much! We are definitely excited to hit the road and have new adventures.
There are ways to make it work in all vehicles it’s just a matter of what makes the most sense for my plans
Get whatever you like, Don't let people tell you what you need
Appreciate that so very much
I thinking 4x4 Tundra? Maybe another Truck House? Just need more space than the Grenadier. But, it's your rig. Do what you want! Best wishes!!
thank you, I think I'll leave the truck house to Timmy. I need to be a little more discreet and more nimble to be driving the world.
Buy a nice 4x4 3/4 ton pickup gas engine and ger a nice slide on camper.a perfect set up for you no matter what the weather is..good luck😊😊
that is one of the options.
How beautiful you are with your angelic features
How nice it is to see your new mobile home & see you happy
(I wish you a life full of beautiful adventures) 🤜🏼🤛🏼
Thank you so much
You had something you liked so get it again just dont flip it and you'll build it better and cheaper the second time
Good luck sweety❤
thank you so much. Definitely have to check all my options and see which one feels right.
I’ve seen a few and the tail lights are actually pretty bright to me the are way brighter then u think
Okay that is good to know.
I still think a full break light down the side would look sick
@ absolutely agree no such thing as to much lighting
Hello Sloan I've never heard of the Grenadier till now but I know Toyota's are tough but you get what makes you happy cause at the end of the day it's you living in the right it's your home after all happy trails Sloane be safe out there thanks David
You can dance on the hood off Grenadier and test the knokking on the Doors with new Landcruiser. Materials are top on the Grenadier
Aww thank you! The grenadier is a new vehicle and a spin on the defender 110 the story on how they came to be is actually really fascinating.
I think the grenadier is a really promising new overland vehicle
@searchingforsloane I've been watching Roaming Reckless she has a defender it's been in a shop a lot not sure if I would want one 😆 but it's is truly up to you and what you want and prefer Hun just stay safe no matter what you decide on getting but if you do get it, I would like to buy the back seats if you take them out lol for my up grade lol lol hope to get to meet you sometime over the road
Ps. what ever makes you happy then I am happy for you I do want you to know that as well I know the defender are old and this one is a up to date one I just want it to be as good as your truck was to you or better just wishing you the very best in life Kiddo be safe thank's David
land rover defender model, unbeatable on off-road. good for roof tent and planty of space inside.
they are a well known overland vehicle that's for sure
I bought my Toyota from that same dealership. Great group of ppl
oh how wild! they seemed really great.
An upside-down house is a sign that you need to do something ELSE.
This rig looks cool but I would definitely stick with Toyota. Maybe get yourself a slightly older one & save some $. Good luck!
the used market is sooo tough.
@@searchingforsloane The new Toyota Land Cruiser is PRETTY SWEET!… just sayin. Good luck on your new journey!
I would run from that bmw thing. It screams euro and euros are expensive to maintain and repair. If I can add anything about maybe an suv and off road. Look at the sequoia trd. Big suv and it’s built to go off-road. Also the trd tundra. Both big vehicles to live in!
the sequoia is definitely a big vehicle and so is the tundra.
I hope you find your perfect new truck!!💚. Blessings to you and your family!!💚
Thank you so much. It’s a tough choice but we will find the right one
Need a vehicle if repairs are needed, parts, and service are readily available.
Definitely something I’m taking into consideration
Couldnt resist! What a kook!
Glad you like the video
Is AT Overland going to help you get your Atlas repaired or replaced? I thought you said that in your previous video. If so, won't you need the same kind of truck? I am now also considering getting an Atlas after seeing yours & I have learned they make them specific to whatever truck you have. So, if they're going to repair the damaged one then I would think you need the same kind of truck you had before.
Unfortunately my topper was beyond repair.
So they were able to take the interior builds out of the truck. Which I have options what I would like to do with.
I will give AT overland a 12/10 recommend. The product is the best you will find and the team there is incredible so supportive not to mention they have developed a huge supportive community of overlanders you are welcomed into.
Each of their toppers are hand made custom to your truck and wants.
From a mechanics point of view and a tecoma owner. If your planning going around the world. Stick with 4WD, Manual transmission, least amount of electronics available. And go back to a tecoma. Can get fixed anywhere in the world by any mechanic.
I agree 👍
they are definitely solid vehicles.
Good morning as well and How are you truly doing today I'm sorry I forgot to ask you before I sent it hope you are truly okay I'm sorry you have been bogged down with the wreck take care Hun be safe and Have fun!!! 🤣
We are working through getting back on the road.
Step by step piece by piece
Hi, I'd get a LC 200 Series any day over a Grenadier. . .
Those are solid vehicles
@ That or an LC 78 Troopy…
Hello young lady, im glad to see you & the dogs are safe & well, I was just wondering if these videos are still slightly behind? If that makes sense, yes, you're still homeless, but you still have ur arms n legs, stay safe & chin up young lady 😊
Yes so very grateful my dogs and I are okay. Which is what is most important.
The videos are just a touch behind.
I am still not back on the road
@@searchingforsloanecan't wait to see all of you lovelies back on the road, where you all belong, stay safe young lady 😊
Hi Sloane, with all due respect to all car/truck manufacturers, everything has it's own unique features. Doesn't matter what you choose/ can afford, I'm sure it will get you from point A to B safely. 😉
thank you so much! they all have a reason ad place and it comes down to what is the right vehicle for what you need and want to do.
sparkle is back, look out world!!!!!!!
awww thank you so much
Hello , I think that Toyota it's better , because it's reliable , and there are all parts everywhere in the world for repair . 😉
that is a very very good point
@SearchingForSloane your choice, my opinion is I like the 4 door, 4WD, pickup version, and have a custom camper installed.
There are so many options it’s hard to choose
Let's see what Toyota's got. 😊
We will see! Lots of options
❤sretno sa novim dzipođ samo naprijed zgodna si macko🇧🇦🌹
Probably one of the biggest signs not to cross the border.lol enjoy USA with ur new truck an new chapter. Love the vids
Thank you so much.
The goal is to drive the world so that’s just what we will do.
@searchingforsloane just visited Costa Rica Soo nice. I wish I drove.. possibilities are endless
@@searchingforsloaneare you taking a bodyguard with you?
Run! Don't walk, just run away as fast as you can!!!
I mean gotta check all the options
Glove box manual is your best friend. Read and understand every work if you try and can. I was a mechanic over 50 yers and it even takes president over shop manuals. ... GVW and so on ...
definitely lots to think about and learn
@@searchingforsloane glad to see you are a thinker ... I like the videos ...
Green vehicles are bad luck, I've had three so I know. All three has had problems. I heard that back in the 70's , but I guess I had had to find out if it was true for myself.
oh wow! so no green vehicles, noted
Beautiful I want it too! And Toyota?
Toyota is the next vehicle to drive
GX 460
Those are good little rigs
I'd hate to have to see it and check where all dealerships are .. in advance. ... variable pressure steering, ford did back in the 0-s
definitely have to check all the options
I have a 92 JDM 4x4 Isuzu Diesel with Yokohama camper for sale, it's sick, check them out! I'm a yota guy but research on the 4JB1 engine checks out and it was half price of a yota version...it's on a Rodeo so easy to get parts.
that sounds sick!
@@searchingforsloane Good luck on the search, take your time!
For $100k you could have the sickest truck camper setup. Then youd have everything with storage for long term travel.
there is a lot of options out there.
Just remember if you ever go off the road again, stay off the road till you come to a stop
noted.
@ my dad advise to me because he was a truck driver and I learned to drive Truck as well
His advice save my life several times , I enjoy your channel. I just want you to be safe.
My parents and sister maintained residence in Mexico and Central America for years. They had to walk away from everything because the Cartel's now run the countries. Before you leave for Mexico, please do two things. First, complete and document your Will and Last Testament. Second, tell your Mother that you love her. It will be the last time she will ever see you. Our major government agencies have now stated; DO NOT TRAVEL IN MEXICO.
This is not the time to travel to Central and South America.....
Pfff... I've travelled all over mexico and Guatemala never a problem. Just dont do stupid shit and you'll be fine.
The roof panel looks like a Jet panel, got your pilots license?
Right?! I guess they did it intentionally
The million dollar question is how are you funding this adventure youre on?
She has part ownership in that business her father left them.
I have a full time job.
unfortunately not part owner, I just run the operations
Say you have rich parents without saying it.....
Wow! This was a lot
it was
thanks for posting
Thanks for supporting
@@searchingforsloane always will hope you are doing ok
Central and South America…? Toyota might be a better option. Especially with the cost factor. More aftermarket stuff available for Toyota
that is definitely a very good point
You need a used Toyota Tundra.
Those are good vehicles
Toyota Love from morocco
we love a reliable Toyota.
Or maybe don't put glitter on because you're not 7 🤷♂️
Please don't...BMW based vehicle in Argentina or Poland. Service could be an issue ...used gm van runs forever parts everywhere ..
I agree, we had big troubles with mechanics for our BMW 4x4 in Australia 🇦🇺, when your living outside the cityscape 🌆. 😮 Sold it in the end, beautiful car, but V8, petrol ⛽️ is soooo expensive in Australia as well. 😢
I have a van. But definitely much prefer an off-road capable vehicle that is small to maneuver
I can imagine that would get challenging. Gas is so expensive everywhere it's just wild.
tippy as has a high center of gravity
it feels like a tank
Hello, you don't need none. You look good as is.
Well thank you
Quartermaster payload is around 1700 pounds
Oh dang! That’s pretty solid.
They better get making them
Sloan: Before you make a final decision….check out the guys at UJOINT OFF-ROAD in North Carolina……👍🏻
that's a little far from me. But I'm sure a great shop. We love all the off-road shops that are building sick rigs.
I would stick with toyota but that's my opinion
There is definitely benefits to the Toyota
Sloane is not going to buy a Grenadier, it's English and you'll have to drink tea all the time. You can't stand up in an SUV the way you can in a truck with a camper. Tundra would be nice. You would have plenty of room for you and the dogs. It's just not as manuenerable as a Tacoma when you're off-road. Mom looks like a great travel companion. Maybe you could take her with you.
We will wait and see what I wind up with.
It’s a big decision and I will take everything into consideration.
I wish my mom would come travel around with me! Would be wild
It,s french and Sloane drinks wines :)
Taking Mom would never work. Her Mom would not tolerate the messy conditions. Sloane would find her Mom put her glitter where she never knew it could be located,😄
Where is the trunk monkey button? It comes with a trunk monkey right?
Wouldn’t that be really fun
They look cool but stick with Toyota! My friend works at a Euro shop and they got one in and she said they could not diagnose several electrical problems and neither could the BMW dealership 🤷🏼♂️
woof that sounds wild
Go big. Go Tundra!
we shall see how that test drive goes very soon
BMW gas engine in the US. Diesel in Europe. U could by any american diesel pu for less money.$$$$$$
a foreign diesel would be the best! get away from the silly DEF system that always fails.
Be careful with those Toyotas they have some engine and some other problems going on. You want something that will keep on trucking down the road. Without a lot of headaches. A camper with something you can stand up in, you will get tried of walking around on your knees if you go that way. Just cause you got money for something new. Look around and check things out. Make a list what you need and then what you want. Take care!
You are so very right. The new Toyotas have joined the unreliable club which is so sad.
Definitely checking everything out
Stay with a Toyota
You will find you are going to be so cramped in that space
We will see what wins in the end. So many options
No no no Sloan! small, expensive to fix, probably very expensive, probably no aftermarket add on's available....run!!!!!
Do people buy this to go off road? no not really...run faster! This is not for you it's just comfortable, run now! Go look at something that is going to really work for you.
There is actually a huge push toward the grenadier in after market.
It’s taking the market by storm. Lots of brands making parts for it now.
@ pffft, don’t do it Sloan! You’re not a yuppie
😝
They are pretty, I’ll will stick to Toyota, you can service them all over the planet
You can get Toyota parts even in most pharmacies
toyota parts are definitely easy to find
@@searchingforsloaneI’ve traveled all South America and Central America with an FJ40, and what I was able to see was that most mechanics are familiar with almost all Toyotas, parts are easy to find and less headaches, With other brands is a little scary to see how most mechanics are willing to guess and practice with your rare vehicle
On the other hand, German motors are expensive to service them so as their parts
Starting @ 71k? Not enough room for even a bed
if you remove the back seats there would be enough room to make a bed.
first thoughts - BMW is NOT known for reliability and I wouldn't want something called a GRENADER that's worse than an EXPLODER
😂😂😂 those are all valid
Those BMW B57/B58 are reliable and strong engines.
Wow! Went from no money to looking at Big money truck! Interesting.
Insurance check from totaled Tacoma. Not really interesting.
@@corscorp Insurance didn't cover the camper top or the off road suspension according to her. That had to amount to over $20K. if true, thats a big loss. It just don't add up.
Just checking out all my options and deciding to do what is best for me
Insurance was very fair to me.
It’s called financing, put 30k down and finance the rest. 🤷♂️
I definitely think Toyota is a good vehicle and around the world.
Which is a major benefit.
But I will be taking all the options into consideration
Not everybody likes to flip a truck😅
Definitely not me
@searchingforsloane 👏👍😅 from Ottawa Canada 🇨🇦
The grenadier is half the size of the room your used to. Toyota is universal throughout the world. Good luck anyway.
shockingly the length of the back of the grenadier is the same length of the truck bed I lived in. The only thing different would be not having the cab of the truck which would be a huge lack of space for all my gear.
I feel like a land cruiser would be better overall. Especially with maintenance and repair.
land cruiser is such a good rig.
Grenadine people are getting 14 mpg and they take supper unleaded. $$$
The gas mileage is better than my Tacoma
Hi, I never see grenadier before. Cool. If u decide to pick. Good luck!😊
Right?! It’s a take on the defender 110
❤❤❤🫵
I would buy a Nissan Frontier with a reliable V6 engine or even a miserable New Toyota, with all there problems, before I bought a grenadier, you know what a grenadier does? He carry’s a grenade launcher and blows things up, sound familiar? Get the hint? Back to the trucks, Nissan has a really good deal on that Frontier and it’s been out awhile, probably would be easier to get worked on down below the equator than that G thing or the new Toyotas, They can’t even keep them things running up here in the USA, love ya! ❤
People are liking the frontiers.
Hola, beaucoup beaucoup d'électronique, aïe aïe aïe 🤯
Everything these days is electronic it’s crazy
Sorry forgot… BMW = Breaking my wallet!!! lol 😊
I know that one
Get a 4 runner, and be done with it. Last forever
Those are good rigs
Toyota is known worldwide. I'd stick with what works.
Toyota is definitely a known name
