Interesting. I went to my bank in Alberta Canada last week and they were closed, it was early afternoon. There was a notice on the door but it didn't state a reason for the closure. It's best to take some cash out bit by bit if we can.

Last year here in the uk I witnessed customers having to prove what they need the cash for, any sum over a thousand pounds the bank required a reason and proof to back up that reason I couldn’t believe it! I was furious..

Removed any cash I had from banks few years ago, and continue to do so only leaving a small float. Don't trust them it's not worth it.

But how do you remove it? I heard if more than 10k is withdrawn the bank reports the person to fintrac which can decide to freeze your accounts.
@Elias-yx9gx withdraw a large sum from teller for "emergency" repairs or whatever you come up with then remove smaller amounts from machines until you only have an acceptable minimum amount, then just keep removing. Maybe up your withdrawal limits for machines mines set at $2500 so it's pretty easy to keep up. Never let the bank hold your cash, EVER!

I was at my bank about 2 months ago and watched this happen…the bank teller had to make calls to various different bank employees for an authorization for a gentleman to take out the cash to purchase a motorcycle, in the end he was not allowed to withdrawal the cash. He was very nice about it but he didn’t know what to do…and the teller was equally dumbfounded…I keep very little cash in the bank now…but this is real…and it’s scary

I have a major bank here in South Carolina. They won’t accept a cash deposit.
I pulled almost all cash out of my banks over 2 years ago. I leave enough to pay a couple of bills online and that's it and I told them why. I WILL NOT do digital currency.

This has been happening in the UK for the past 15years+. when I withdrew £2000 the teller said ' Can I ask you what it's for?', I said yes, then said no more. Conversation finished.

I’ve had ALL my information stolen in the last month by two separate cyber attacks on two separate companies and banks expect me to go full digital. Is it just me or does none of make any effing sense beyond the total control aspect.

I'm on board with your kind of "logic". But "cash" is not that paper stuff. That paper stuff is "fiat", it's the same crazy as most other. A persons "cash" needs to be (goal and silver). Buy you $1000 of silver eagles. It's a start. When the system goes. Silver will still be trade-able. Nobody is gonna trust the paper stuff.

Hey there! Listen up, because I have something important to say. As a UK expat living in Turkey, I can tell you that the conversation the gentleman had with the teller is not unique to Canada. This kind of thing has been happening in the UK for years, albeit on a slightly less aggressive level. And if you think that's bad, let me tell you about my stay in Holland last October. The hotel I stayed at didn't accept any cash payments and had robots serving guests. Anyone who calls you a conspiracy theorist for being concerned about this kind of thing needs a reality check. Had a motel refuse cash a while back. Gave my cash to one down the road. Couldn't get a room a while later. We slept in the car beachfront on Lake Superior. Actually enjoyed waking up to sunrise there and usually car camp for free every other day on road trips. LoL
