- Today we look at Why America's Rail System Sucks. We deep dive into the history of trains, and why America has fallen so behind in the realm of trains, when compared to Europe and the UK. I hope you enjoy.
Rail travel in America is greatly underappreciated and underrated. We need to build more railroad lines for faster trains and hopefully take advantage of them to build towns and cities in many of the unpopulated areas out west.
Or we can replacing some of the highways and turn into railways.
Its not, the US rail network is designed to ship goods, not people. And its damn good at that job.
Canada's rail network isn't much better although I can't think of too many inhabited US territories with good train service either.
thats the reason why it sucks. Its not for transporting people.
@@Javo_Non It's not really necessary. For anything under 300 miles, a car is a better option, while for anything over 300 miles, the airplane is a better option. In both of these cases, unless you lived right next to the rail station, it would be slower to take the rail.
"as passenger rail is never profitable" - that's bold claim, for example Amtrak lists it's Northeast Regional and Acela as profitable.
what makes air travel in the US a nuisance to the plagued train-less traveller is the long check-in lines and TSA scrutiny.
If you talk about rail networks - more freight is carried by train in the US than in the EU. It's the passenger trains that make a difference.
Northeast Corridor is an exception. Your perspective was that of the sunbelt, which is correct. The problem with the sunbelt is, no matter how much rail is built, they will still use their cars, because it's a big part of their culture.
Honestly, minus maybe showing more of Europe isn’t perfect or finding footage that fits you did a good job.
First and foremost, private enterprises controlled the railroads in the USA and refused to give up control of almost everything concerning the railroads to any government oversight, let alone control of the railroads!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥴🥴🥴
We use our railroads for freight. It's much more economically sustainable that way, as passenger rail is never profitable.
gud job
Nice to see Thurston featured
I don't care about focus on "war on cars". This is too much cars that causes air pollution, heavy traffic during rush hours, and road accidents. The car-centric needs to end in the future in United States
That is a Worse idea, Regardless of pollution.
Here before the million

It is called freedom , trains can not get you where you want to go . Also independents .
wow
Do they need to use euro 6 or it's just for Europe?
Money
i totally agree america completely sucks 😂😂😂😂😂
This video is horrible, glossing over the actions of the industry in it’s effort to promote cars + oil
We drive and fly, the hell with passenger trains.
So you against railways?
No wonder the US is so fucking ugly
Get rid of the highways and banned cars. It's time to turn this into a railway. Nobody wants to drive any vehicle such as cars, vans, and s.v.'s.
Certain areas, suburbia in particular should be reduced, but rural areas will still use cars
@@SeaCowsBeatLobsters Good point. Street cars will only used suburban areas so kids won't walk to school or anywhere else by foot.
That's A Very bad idea, I Love trains And Transportation, But getting rid of Road vehicles would not Only Reck The System of Getting people across Our Big nation. It's Quite hard to explain That Replacing Some things for 1 thing would cause a problem.
@@DistanceNsVeterans Why? People refuse to drive cars because of traffic congestion, road construction on weekends and even accidently or killed people.
@@DistanceNsVeterans That's not a bad idea. The emergency vehicles(like police, ambulance, disabled, and fire trucks) are staying. The rest of domestic vehicles are restricted from roads.
