Black Sheep Wall did it for years. Drop G isn't that bad on 25ish inch scales if you don't use the low string past the 12th fret or so, the rest of the guitar is basically in D.

The evertune bridge allows you to adjust the tension of the strings so you can get by using thinner strings that would otherwise be too slinky
