Top six teams need managers who can coach a team to win most of its matches. Allardyce makes his teams difficult to beat. He has never shown himself capable of coaching a top six team. He has shown himself capable of getting a limited team to avoid relegation or to get a mediocre club into mid-table. That is why he is given teams at the bottom of the table and not at the top. Potter and Howe in contrast managed small clubs with limited budgets to play the type of football that a top six team would want to play.

So are you suggesting a limited team is djorkaeff, okocha , hiero , ngotty, jussi, Ivan campo , frandsen ( all internationals btw ) oh and Ricardo gardener also an international. He also get them into Europe ( very close to the champs league but they wouldn’t give him a lil more budget) . @cbarclay99 Год назад +2

@@ticklemetrout9625 That's a fair point. I had forgotten about that Bolton team because it is so long ago. Allardyce left in 2007. I have watched plenty of Allardyce teams since and the football they have played has been dire - defending in depth and trying to nick a goal from a set piece. That is the reason he is unpopular with fans at the clubs he managed. His popularity amongst players seems to be based on the number of days off he gives his teams. Perhaps he should have spent the days developing their skills and their team play. Then my and most people's opinion of him would be different.

The Eredevisie is a completely different level to the Premier League though. For example De Boer failed miserable, Koeman and Van Gaal hardly pulled up any trees. The most recent example is Ten Hag who has completely failed to impose any style of play on United, we still play like a bunch of strangers booting the ball up for outdated counter-attacks to headless chickens Rashford and Antony who aren't being coached on when to look up and bloody pass the ball. Ten Hag has survived and will continue to survive on the 200m-300m transfer kitty he'll be spoiled with every season which will paper over the cracks of his many inadequacies. Scraping top 4 with that team can never EVER be classed as "an amazing job". Get your head out of the bin son and actually watch the football. Exactly, which is why this deal is far from done. Feyenoord are reportedly going to ask for as much as 25m Euros, so even if that is negotiated down it will still cost Spurs a big sum. Will Levy be prepared to pay that for a manager/coach? Slot is as important to Feyenoord as ETH was to Ajax, so you can't blame them for wanting a small fortune for releasing him.
