Got my Steam Deck about 10 days ago and my tinkering brought me here, and I'm so glad it did! An excellent combination of succinctly presented information, the right level of humour (Jake the dog from Dogz killed me) and one of the best accents there is. You deserve to blow up on RUclips any day now!
Joe, thank you so much for the kind words! Had a bit of a blip with a RUclips rebrand that resulted in me taking a pause, but you'll see more episodes of this series starting this Friday! :)
Xemu is just demanding compared to the others and the drivers that steamOS uses for steam deck causes visual issues. In some games. You can get ingame for burnout 3. You just need to drive the menu blind. When ingame it looks great but since the game is demanding it’s a bit rough to run currently. This might change with the upcoming Vulkan backend. Performance issue also was partly because on that old of steamos you need smt off.
Since I already own Burnout Paradise: The Ultimate Box on Steam, I guess I'll just have to stick with that one if I want to run it on the Deck. There is however one problem in my case: The DLC content is gone. I don't want to have to use the Modern DLC launcher to fix this, as it doesn't recognize the default Steam directory and the save folder is completely hidden away, even when searching through the compatdata folder and revealing folders that are hidden by default.
why do you have to enable vsync on pcsx2? the steam deck has build in Hardware adaptive sync, vsync activate is clearly related to becoming more inputlag ...
Do you have tips on remapping the accelerate and brake to the analog triggers in PCSX2 and ppsspp? I guess you create a separate config where the triggers emulate half the range of the right analog stick?
Did you experience a weird horizontal traveling line in PCSX2 Steam- for burnout revenge? It's about 1/2" away from the vehicle in certain sections of the tracks.
It'll be interesting to see if performance actually improves with SMT once they update SteamOS to 3.5 and rebase the Linux kernel to 6.1. Apparently the current Linux Kernel that the Deck uses has some weird issues running SMT on AMD hardware. I think right now it's only on the main update branch, but maybe it'll come next month or so after the next version of Mesa drops.
Dude, I have the PS2 version of B3 and I can run it pretty well on PCSX2 using my PC, and I just can't notice the input lag, there must be something related to the steam deck as I heard a lot of complaints in regards to input lag
Wait.... PCSX2 has input latency?? I thought I was going crazy playing Revenge and it seemingly running great but something not feeling correct. Is there no fix for this?
The RetroDeck Dolphin Burnout 2 runs extremely well, but looks a bit shit. Haven't tinkered with the visual settings much though. On Dolphin in Linux desktop the game runs just perfect in 1440p. Paradise Remastered runs natively on the deck. But the game lacks a bit soul, unlike Burnout2, which IMO is the best game in the series.

Liked and subscribed! i just got a steam deck and your channel is quality! i hope you start uploading again 😊
Great videos! Hope your channel grows to get the attention it deserves.
I'm throwing in an MGS series request 🙏
9:53 I remembered trying to play Burnout 2 on Xemu just to enjoy the soundtrack feature that is not present on the PS2, and I had that same problem.
Awesome work, thank you! It would be perfect if we had a final list for each best game version at the end of the video. ;)
21:54 this can be fixed by going into the xenia canary config and changing gpu= vulkan to gpu= d3d12
Another great video! How about the Ratchet and Clank series next?

I have a run it on my Steam Deck and i din't notice the input lag either
Pc remastered does work at 60fps and can be modded on the deck (I have it running)
remaster runs out of the box now
Motorstorm next please.
running on Vulkan with frame ahead of 1 frame reduces input lag for pcsx2
I completely agree with your review of paradise. Never liked what they did to the series.
I loved it, +1 sub!
great info!!! thanks!!!

Burnout 2 Xbox on Steam Deck runs like the Gamecube version does on my phone.
