Gad, that nasty Vera! She is meaner than a snake and without any of the charm! belittling Doreen and making her feel worse! What a rotten woman! No wonder Mrs Davidson got on her case as often as she did!

It showed Meg DID have the best interests of the prisoners at heart, and even Vera, in some ways, had the best interests of the prisoners in mind, although she didn't always show it and she was masking her own pain of her mother's abuse by taking it out on the prisoners. Joan was in it only for Joan, and nobody else.
