It really does get you right in the heart and gut, doesn’t it? The arrangement has that bright, breezy Beach Boys texture to it, which totally undermines the narrative of the piece, both lyrically and melodically. I can’t help but imagine Mr. Wilson in the dead of night, alone, hunched over his piano, writing as a way to channel his heartbreak. That’s probably a bit dramatic, but still. It’s so effective. I love this recording, it’s a gem.
@@goora1866I also don’t really like how they slowed down Carl’s vocal, if they didn’t feel his voice was right as is, Brian should’ve just sang it. This and Surfs up are probably the only times I didn’t really like a Carl vocal
i wonder how much lost media exists solely in gaming shitposts, a few centuries from now the only footage of tiananmen square left will be in the form of a team fortress 2 animated spray or something
does anyone remember the old deleted video with like a false start where Brian starts playing then stops and i think shouts something out before starting again? Or was that the Ibraam video mentioned in the description
I can't listen to anything after Smile except for demos. When I hear him sing this, I feel he knew he had songs left inside him, but he knew he no longer could sing them after losing his voice to alcohol. So beyond these, we will never really get any more of an idea as to how it was supposed to sound from in his head.
Absolutely wild take, Brian continued to create music for 40 years after Smile and even if it was less ambitious, it was still innovative and unique and beautiful. Albums like Love You Adult/Child and BW88 are as authentically Brian as Pet sounds, and the music is just as wonderfully crafted. Not to mention his contributions to albums like Sunflower and Surfs Up, just listen to 'Til I die", as good or maybe better than most songs on Pet Sounds or Smile.
I had been mourning the loss of this demo. Means so much. Thank you roblox.
Why Roblox

It took a part of me
The heart of me
And though I played the role
I lost my soul
It’s still within your heart 😢
the description on this video threw me for a loop, but I'm glad you were able to preserve this! Shout out to roblox
Came here to be sad, now I’m dying laughing at the description. Thank you for that. 😂
sewing a wound with no anesthetic. This is how he writes 😢 brought low by love.
Beautifully said
The studio version isn't bad but it doesn't hit the same as hearing his broken voice singing over just a piano
Damn right this is much better the rawness can't be replicated
@@baz3338 the main issue was the instrumental, it didn't really portray the desolate feeling of the demo

That is so specific and I love how no matter where I go on the Internet tf2 shows up everywhere lol
Why is that related?

Heart wrenchingly beautiful
THANK YOU, I’ve been very upset since the other demo came down, thank you for the upload.
He and Lennon seem to have played the piano similarly.
funny thing i found: the “shades of blue and purple haunt me” chords resemble the “all the people that come and go” chords of penny lane
BRIAN AND MARILYN... THEY REALLY WERE A "GREAT COUPLE"😎
Now that Melinda has passed, would love to see Brian get back together with Marilyn.

It was the Ibraam video of love you demos, his second channel got deleted as we both know
Steve? Is It rolling?
trying to learn this by ear. definitely not the easiest song to learn by ear lol

That's a really sad photo, considering their split was shortly afterwards
yeah I think that photo is from 1976 and they split in 1979
Such chunky chords!
love your channel banner
I love demos!!!❤
This could have been one of the greatest beach boys songs... too bad
Brian should have sung the studio version with Carl just on the bridge.
nice roblox clutch
Sounds kinda like another one of his unreleased songs, “Stevie”
You got a sub from me for this. Looking to explore your other Bryan Wilson videos.
Wiat is this from the Brian loves you bootleg?
Because i think actually downloaded the original video
if you did please upload it

The studio version with Carls voice is amazing though!
He didn’t even really lose his voice like that until the mid 70s, his singing on Wild Honey, Smiley Smile, Friends etc is still great!
“Can’t listen to anything after smile” is fucking CRAZY
Alcohol? More from chainsmoking cigarettes and snorting both coke and heroin.
