Another great and informative video Josh! Thank you for being such a competent and patient teacher.
It was great to see a (sort of) collaboration with Malibu Flyer (mostly Katey) and Aviation 101 (Josh)! I watched the video about Katey's PPL training and solo. Its awesome that she was afforded the opportunity for such a unique cross-country, especially with Josh in the right seat. I'm close to getting my PPL and I'm looking forward to flying with my Dad, as I'm sure Katey is with you!
God Bless.
Any time Kory!! Excited for the upcoming projects we have planned.
So cool! Two of my fav channels coming together! Great stuff!
Kkkkkk
So, Kory, how many pilots in the family now? :) This must make you very proud. Your daughter appears to have learned a lot about flying from you.
Now, as I said to Josh, we need to do something about that panel! Retrofit time!
Oh yeah, and while you're at it, Laminar Flow Systems for aerodynamic cleanup on the wings, flap and gap seals, and PowerFlow Exhaust for the engine! Well, maybe you can't install the PowerFlow system, but the Laminar Flow stuff should get you more speed, better climb rate and better handling
She is a good pilot. Nice to see another young female flying. Thanks.
"It's a dance--somebody's got to lead, it might as well be you." Josh, back in the 70's I was a Navy T-28 instructor. The T-28 was a big, intimidating airplane for a primary student. Lot's of power--a Wright 1425 hp radial engine, with lots of torque. You couldn't be shy with the rudder when flying the airplane. I used to tell my students--"fly the airplane, or it will take you for a ride." Stinson guy.
You've got to take the bull by the yoke. ;)
Josh Crenshaw Fellow Veteran Thank You for your Service . Are you still in the Navy ? If not are you retired from the Navy ? I'm an Air Force Veteran & VA Retiree as well . I was Air Force ' 71 - ' 75 & VA ' 76 - ' 97 .
@@bobshaw4063 Bob, got out of the Navy in '79 after 8 yrs. Flew C-130's also. Career corporate pilot for 37 years.
I flew the T28A back in 1965. 800 hp slow to 10k. Big difference to the C or D.
When your CFI is yawning, that's a GOOD sign.
When my dad was a new pilot he was flying with my mom and me (I was 2) and he popped it onto the runway a bit hard, then he hears from the back seat me saying, "Too much rudder, Daddy."
now I'm 50 and it's still a family joke.
That's so wholesome
My dad flew Cherokees he rented. He quit flying in the early 80's. Best times of my life.
@@ericbitzer5247 Yea, until the wings break off.
Lol!
That’s epic 😍
Aviation101 just couldn’t resist another flight in a Cherokee 😏
Haha got that right Miles!
Love me some Pa-28 180!
Great job Katey, your dad told me that you had passed you're PPL AND that you were flying with Josh from Texas back to Arizona.
I didn't know that Josh was going to film it and post it to boot!
You are leap and bounds ahead of where I was when I got my PPL a little over 3 years ago.
I hope you realize how blessed you are to have not only your dad as a mentor, but everybody he's affiliated with as well.
Embrace you're new found freedom of the skies, may God bless you on your future endeavors!
Trust Josh to find an instructional moment, _let's do a no-flaps landing,_ and his experience recognizing the need for it, owing to the gustiness.
Gary XHLC
Yea, I had a CFII, that would pull rabbits out of the proverbial hat all the time to keep me on my toes!
Those CFI/CFII’s do it for the love of teaching/mentoring!
She's also blessed in the fact that no matter what was presented to her on this ferry job, she was gung ho, ready to go. No fear and sure of herself, her abilities, the airplane and her instructor. Gonna be a great pilot, I'm quite certain Dad is uber proud of her.
@@xheralt I was surprised when she said she hadn't done a no-flap landing. I thought all students practiced that. I did anyway.
Thank you!! It was an awesome learning experience for us both!
She's so calm, she will be a good pilot.
Amen. A countenance of confidence.
She is a good pilot!
You mean IS not will be
@@cityvibegirl No will be. Is still building time and experience.
God bless you for being a positive role model for a newbie pilot!
Thanks Wesley!
@@Aviation101 Thank you for the videos !

@@dickjohnson5230 That is so funny. Great family memory.
she greased the last landing. Would fly anywhere with this pilot.
Josh, I've been subscribed since you were I think 16 or 17. You're skills as a pilot and cinematographer have just blossomed. It's been great watching you grow up!
Thank you!! That really means a ton!
Same I’ve been following his videos since the beginning. It’s heartwarming to see aviotion101 grow to become this cool community
21:12 - "Chirrup"
The sight picture on final was also spectacular.
Continued success to you, Katey.
Nice job, Josh.
Only thing lacking was an Aviation101 shirt for Katie! Congrats Katie, Josh thanks for another good video.
It's these kind of videos that get me hyped up about aviation. I get jealous seeing other people flying, and not myself. These videos are huge motivators. So good.
What a delightful young lady. CONGRATS to her. And good on you for being there with her. Nice video.
Thank you - we had a great day!
Katey seems like one of the sweetest girls you would ever meet! Awesome piloting Katey!!!
What a terrific cross country for you Katie , and the best money your dad has spent having Josh as an Instructor along with you. Josh , you were fantastic and had so much info for Katie to take in under no pressure.
Josh, you’re the kind of guy I hope my son grows up to be. Keep doing great things.
Thanks!! That really means a lot.
hes not a trump supporter, is he?
@@fetB since he’s a productive member of society and isn’t confused about which bathroom to use, it’s probably safe to assume he is.
@@fetB who?
Did people really not read the GA NFA name and not make one single assumption? I think I know what I need to know. Good luck out there man.
The final landing was pretty much perfect - a soft touch. Great to see someone go through the learning process and succeed. Beautiful girl, beautiful flying, beautiful views and great coaching. Thumbs up!
This video has everything, Plane, amazing & gorgeous female pilot & awesome Instructor. Cant ask anymore. Fully happy.
godly patience of the lady dealing with the flirty host
Darn good landings
I really enjoyed the video. Katey, congrats on the PPL and your cross country.
Thank you! She did a great job.
The camera work and transitions are just so pretty
Our Country is so enormous, and Spectacular,
Excellent job Katie and thanks Josh for sharing such a memorable moment. I second what Ron said--you are leaps and bounds ahead of most people--Congrats! from Cajun Country!!
Thanks for watching, Randall! She did great.
Its a dance, someone’s got to lead. I like that analogy. That part of the US looks so beautiful
Congrats Katie. You were fortunate to have an excellent pilot in the right seat. Safe travels!
Breath of fresh air watching young people do something awesome!!! Great video
I absolutely love your videos!! Im looking into flight schools in the Branson MO area. I grew up a half of mile from Dallas Love Field and have always had a passion for flying. Keep doing what you do. Thanks!
the inputs she was putting in at the landing was amazing...very natural.
Great vid! I look forward to doing this. What a great experience for a new pilot!
Well mission accomplished, cool instructor, also the student, the back home landing was great
Thanks! We both had a good day and learned a lot!
Absolutely loved this video. My daughter is going to take her first flying lesson this coming weekend. Best Father’s Day present ever. Thank you for sharing!
Great content Josh. As always. So well done and with a compelling story to tell.
Beautiful in so many ways. Scenery, the learning and confirming of her skills and the general positivity of this vlog. Awesome work. 👊
Love watching high density altitude flying. Speaking as someone who flies in the north east of the US
It's definitely a different animal that can sneak up on you if you're not expecting it!
What's "high-density altitude"? Air is less dense as you go up.
Nice episode;... "She is a natural"... Thanks !!!
Thank you!
I love fly
Great job!! Love when you let us hear you talk to the tower. Another great video. Thank you
That last landing!! Perfect!
Really cool video. I'm just doing PPL in the UK . Your videos are really helpful. thank you.
Roger Clarke In the UK, that will take many months to do, should have gone to Florida when its possible to get over
@@doubleplazroblox3944 In UK you make IFR first and then go for the rest ^^
I love to see it when a couple of my favorite channels get together and do a collaboration.
Thanks Michael! We had a great time!
"It's a dance, somebody is gotta lead"........So true with everything including this life. Powerful!!!!!!!
Great trip awesome landings.
"Flying an airplane for hours and hours a day is a great way to improve your skills." SO TRUE! My greatest learning flights have been long cross countries. You have to put together weather, aircraft performance, airspace navigation, and other skills all into the flight. Thanks for an awesome video!
DITTO, FROM ALMOST 40 YEARS WORTH, THANK YOU, AND MY FIRST PLANE I BOUGHT WAS A CHEROKEE 180!!!! NEVER LET ME DOWN!!! GREAT JOB TO THE BOTH OF YOU!
@Bruce B Stay in the pattern doing touch and go's so you can at least take off and level off and land again. 6 hours doing touch and go's is better than 6 hours of straight and level flight.
Well done Josh, at least you got to copilot in a Cherokee.
Loved the explanation of looking for clear horizon to determine weather.
Could you explain the procedure for getting a waiver ferry permit?
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks! Getting the ADS-B permit was easy, Kory and Katey did it before I arrived. It's available on the FAA website.
I never thought about it before. It's not like you can grab an airplane with a tow truck. I could see a ferry permit.
Thanks for taking us along on the trip
First long flight for Katie. She did wonderfully!!!!! You go girl!!!!!
welcome back to RUclips josh. i was beginning to get worried about you.
All good on my end! Sometimes I have to put a pause on editing videos (the longest part of the process) to focus on other aspects for a bit.
@Mark Grudt she is a cutie.
Not being a pilot myself, I found this video fun to watch. So interesting. Looked to me she did a great job. Yahoo!
I feel a love connection
Fantastic! Good on you all ...and especially you Katie!
AWESOME job!! Gratz on your ppl!!!
13:53 is how I am after every landing lol
She's good for so little flight time. I expect she'd make a good CFI if she wants.
I agree, I think she'd make a great CFI! Hopefully she continues on to that stage!
Great video, thank you for sharing. Kathy is awesome!
Fantastic flight, well done all!
Loved watching this video. Also, totally should have said, " I have my Dad in sight." lol
Looks like a great first date to me!
they should date! 😃
Looks like a great confidence building flight 👍
Congrats Katie awesome job.
That’s a neat plane to learn in. VERY pilot friendly.
Saved my butt a few times.
Those wheel pants has that nose wheel spinning lol

I love This Girl❤️🇮🇹❤️
Legitimate question but when she mentions she has never done a flapless how does she has a PPL but never needed to train it?
I went solo in 9 hours and the 1st circuit lesson we did flapless circuits just in case it was required
Katie is a sweet heart, so is that plane.
Such a great instructor. Greetings from Houston.
I just want to say that I gave Josh his low wing endorsement.
Dan Gryder except there's no such thing as a low wing endorsement.
@@prorobo Yeah there is, I gave Dan his Canadian low wing endorsement
Dan, I have a safety question for you given you level of expertise. My old school CFI that did my primary training always insisted on "rounding off" my base to final turn. As I've gained many more hours and experience over the past 12 years flying all over the country, I appreciate that technique more and more. It is, by far, the safest way to make that turn in my view. Your thoughts?
@@mattbasford6299 I haven't read this full doc, but sounds comprehensive: csobeech.com/files/Rounded_Base_Turns_GA_Traffic_Patterns.pdf
for a skilled pilot a single turn from downwind to final isn’t bad. However, you have less time to get stabilized at the proper speed and altitude, additionally if you are at a non-towered airport with traffic it’s not the best idea either.
For me, I love flying navy approaches coming in super tight with the smoke on rolling out right over the numbers. Had a few towers freak out about it though for obvious reasons. 😁
As long as you do your gumps and don’t stall spin your good to go and look like a badass.
"Don't let yourself go into IMC" ~Josh. What if you had flown inadvertantly into IMC? It can and has happened. Your Attitude Indicator was INOP. Pretty risky flight with that weather at your departure location and an INOP AI in my opinion.
Nah VFR your outside is your AI, its completely SAFE!
What a great training flight for her. I'm sure there were many teachable moments along the way. Some rough air for sure. Good to see you back.
Great video...keep 'em coming! You're such a great flight instructor...I'm sure you helped instill her with more confidence, too!
Katiy is such a cutie and is going to be such a powerful woman with the skills she is building.
Agreed! She didn’t Need this guy talking all the time. That just makes one nervous.
@@stephensmith60 If I were her Daddy, I would have done the same thing though and perhaps would have done an escort flight behind them too... ha, ha, ha...
@@superbmediacontentcreator Yep - I also think it was a good idea having someone with experience ride along. I would do that too, on some occasions. However, this guy is still in CFI mode and needs to just let her fly. She knows what she's doing. Sometimes jibber-jabbering, like he was doing, is distracting. Makes some young pilots nervous. She already has enough to think or worry about. I would have been looking for a spot to drop him. Later.
@@stephensmith60 Oh, yes I agree and hadn't thought of it that way. I teach sailing on "big boats" and just know when I need to shut up and enjoy the ride only pointing things out as they crop up and only as they apply to safety. Getting into minutia with a newly "minted" operations person in most any skill only adds a layer of confusion when it is the basics they need to concentrate on. Be well...
@@superbmediacontentcreator Sailing, huh? Interesting! Something I've never done, even after living in Florida for so many years. Have fun! Stay out of the Triangle! 😜
Asks her about meeting her expectations... I'd be like, "well, we landed and we can use the airplane again, so we're good."
What a sweetheart, great job.
Can’t believe it’s been 7 years since I subscribed to your channel Josh! Keep up the great work.
Whoever she is married to is one lucky man! I would love if my wife got her license or was even interested, she just sits there and is like meh. lol
Dude....she's married to Jesus. Dont you know who these folks are?
@@redleader LOL #oof. you sir win the internet today. :D
What a treat! Two of my favorite Tubers combine for a great story line and video. Katey...don't take this the wrong way but if I were 45 years younger and single I'd be very tempted to see if you'd like to be a flier/partner! What a quality young woman you are. And, Josh, got to love the phrase, "If you're going to dance you might as well lead!"...Perfect!
Thanks Jim!
Congrats on the license Katey!
Josh, love the videos as always mate! Bringing back memories of my cross country through that area. Even stopped in at Odessa and made some great friends there :)
Superb , good luck Katey 🇺🇸
The guy’s talking talking talking ....
She’s just ahan... hmm.... ok
He’s educating her while she flies and listens. A pilot knows that it’s challenging to maintain focus so she needs to be a multi tasker. What would you expect?
ruclips.net/user/PilotBambivideos meanwhile in Europe (minus the church stuff...)
@@CodeBlue_EMT-P I agree...the only one i was a little critical of was ...when he was talking about crab angle immediately after take off around 17:08; Another min before the commentary, just giving her a bit of time to just clean up the aircraft after take off... But Josh is a great Pilot and CFI...so i trust his judgement.
Another great reminder of why I love this channel and subcribed years ago. Keep up the great work Josh.
that was great to have that experience in early ones life keep it up Ed Boisson
Katey getting it done! Thnx again Josh. I love when you do fuel stops at KSAD because my RV-14 is being built there!
Yea Ha, Katey !
That's what it is all about. Thanks for sharing your adventure. It's my favorite route with lots to see. Green farms and ranches of central Texas, open desert decorated with wind turbines and oil wells in west Texas and the gorgeous jagged mountains around Phoenix. Who knew Texas could be so cloudy? 2,000 feet up and 100 miles visibly is pretty awesome.
Hat's off to your Instructor - he's attentive, patient, and reassuring. I was impressed with how he handled the busted HSI, too.
Blue Skies !
Great flying!!!!! I would be happy to fly with you any time. Keep Em Flying.
Well done Katey.
