    If I were a council manager responsible for pavements, what an easy way to gain friends and influence people, the visibility of the finished job is quite stunning and really for not that much effort.

      Definitely. A clean and orderly streetscape makes the municipality more beautiful and pleasant and the neighborhood gets a better atmosphere including walkers etc.
      As you indicate, it could be a way of added value that is definitely loved by the residents.

    I'm in this business myself, but in the Netherlands. I can't clean up the neighbors property for free. These brushes cost a lot, I do have a different machine, but brushing in general cost a lot. In this case, the RUclips community pays him. Be aware of that. He's not good solely on himself, but on your behalf. I don't have anything to say on his work though. Seems clean and rational.

      1) Money. Can’t spend or won’t spend.
      2) Out of sight, out of mind. If you live somewhere well known (eg an area popular with visitors) or next/near to someone important eg an MP you might get things done, otherwise forget it.

      It’s alright in the right place but on a public footpath is not that place. It’s extremely slippery if stepped on and an elderly or partially sighted person could have a nasty accident.

      @@juliebrooke6099and the bloke part way through mentioned he had already slipped before 😣 What’s council tax for if they won’t maintain a safe and tidy public space?

  • @WhatDayIsItTrumpDay
    @WhatDayIsItTrumpDay Месяц назад +1

    I don't understand why a local council is responsible for sidewalk maintenance. In America, the city builds the sidewalks, but edging and cleaning them is up to the property owner/renter. Because the way it is here, you have a roadside curb, some grass, then the sidewalk, and then thd rest of your yard. So edging them (getting the grass and soil overgrowth off) and pressure washing them is all up to that home owner. Relying on some sort or level of government to get something like that done would literally mean it never gets done, so you just do it yourself.

    • @juliebrooke6099
      @juliebrooke6099 Месяц назад +3

      The council owns the road and the path so it’s for them to maintain. The home owner owns their driveway and lawn so that’s their responsibility. We all pay taxes for the council to do these communal areas but sadly they don’t always do their bit in a timely fashion.

    This machine works very well on moss but does not clean the dirt too well which is a breeding ground for moss and the chemical is absolutely necessary to kill off all remaining moss, fungus, etc.

      What’s council tax for but to help maintain the area they are responsible for? When people can’t use a sidewalk because it’s slippery with moss, that’s on the council. They SHOULD be out minding what’s going on but instead are busy stickin their noses where they aren’t needed.
