The short answer to that is simply that I don’t play that style, it’s just not my thing, I’m also not a shred bot either 🤷🏻♂️. The MX220 is great for the style you mentioned but also great for a lot of other styles as well, it’s def not a one trick pony. 🤘🏼
Little confused here. The EMG logos are wrong, which makes me think they're fake EMG's, and to add on to that, the switch tip color is black when it's supposed to be about the same color as the guitar. I don't know I could be wrong, but I researched this guitar for about a year now cause I've had a crazy obsession with it, and that's just what I noticed.
@@chaosandorderstudio Looking at James Hetfield's book Messenger's that details all of his guitars, that logo in this video is kinda the same but to be honest, I could come up with something closer if I doodled it with a pencil on the back of a napkin, just like Spinal Tap did with the Stonehenge stage prop. Then again, James' original order was truly a one off - the reissues weren't. Maybe the actual custom shop used different logos. Who knows...
Lol it would be really cool to see a white 84 Gibson explorer, just to follow with the Metallica collection. Really rare but really cool. Great vid as well!

It’s identical to James’s 84 in which he used all through the Master of Puppets days and it became the Moore Beer guitar on the Justice tour. It cost me a pretty penny, the guitar was completely re done and EMG’s installed, repainted in that creamy off white, all frets replaces and new tuners as well by a very respectable Luther. I’ve owned that guitar since 2010 and it’s a go to guitar, I didn’t play it out much but it saw around 10 shows, it’s just to nice to mess it up live. Perfect tuning and intonation, and it growls with long sustaining notes. Let me know if you know of a way to send a picture of it and I will.
probably one of the most badass explorers ever. Cool that you did a talking video about it instead of just a straight demo. But fuck man the production is chaotic, almost gave me stroke, not that it's bad, just a bit overproduced maybe. But i can tell you put alot of time and thought into it, just trying to give some feedback. Keep it up!

That is true only for James's MX220 prototype. His MX220 is totally different from the production series... Hetfiled's MX220 was made as "prototype" in 1987 and the production model was in 1989/91
James had 2 Gibson Explorers (EX-84). He used it live from '84-'87. The first one was the "So What" and the second one (backup) was the "More Beer". He switched the pickups to EMGs at around '87 I believe. Then he got endorsed by ESP ever since Justice came out. The MX-220. He had two of 'em. One was the iconic "EET FUK", & the second was a black one with "FUK EM UP" that had regular dot inlays. The MX-220 was quite similar to the EX-84 but had slight body angle changes. The MX-220 also only had two knobs rather than the three knobs of the Gibson. (Quite hypocritical of Gibson cause they sued ESP for the MX-series, but ended up copying the hardware and control layout of the MX) After the Justice Tour, James retired the MX-220s from touring, cause it was beaten up pretty bad. He then used MX-250s which the bodies was quite longer than the MX-220. One iconic MX-250 he had was the "Of Wolf & Man". MX-220 resembles '58 Explorer. MX-250 resembles '76 Explorer.
I’ll try to post something about it, but it’s all “in the box” amp plugins, OD pedal plugins etc. I still prefer real amps and analog pedals but for convenience it’s hard to beat plugins :/

The story goes that back in ‘91 ESP had planned to make about 125 of them but James Hetfield asked them not to so only 25 were made and then never made again.
Gibson sued ESP over using their exact body style, so ESP had to slightly alter explorers made after the lawsuit, thus the extreme price tag of originals and the current design.
