Very well made video, I would like to suggest for u to use a cooler in some titles, many people use this video to compare with others phones that already come with a cooler in the box. I think thermals would benefit a lot from that and we would be able to know the full extent of A17 bionic's power. I play a lot on mobile, never without a cooler because my device is getting old but i'm getting 60 fps in warzone mobile with an iPhone Xs and a cooler in performance and fidelity mode.

@@oo--7714 The IPhone 15 has a 3300 mah battery, 4400 for the 15 Pro Max....the M1 Ipad Air and Ipad Pro's have a 7600 mah battery, the M1 Ipad Pro 12.9 has a 10700 mah battery....The larger devices have bigger batteries and much more space for thermal dissipation/cooling....the iphone only handles 4.5W sustained....the ipads can handle 10-15W Sustained.
Personally I stopped gaming on my iPhone years ago and now only will play on an iPad. Even though I used to love gaming on my iPhone, games on a bigger screen is just that much more enjoyable. I’ve just upgraded to the latest iPad Pro 12.9 m2 16gb 1tb model and it’s an absolute monster, I’d love to know if the extra ram makes a difference as it’s just on another level. One game I always test on a new device to see its power is a lesser known game called nimian legends (I think) it has many pc desktop settings and none of my devices phone or tablet could ever handle it on maxed settings till now, honestly this new model is ridiculous. Emulation can be done with all settings maxed with zero issues, so really looking forward to resident evil 4, res evil village and death stranding as they should run fantastic! Hopefully these aaa games open the floodgates for iOS games coming lot more often.
iOS is a bit more efficient at using RAM than like a PC, since it's a mobile device, but that extra ram on your iPad helps - since the RAM is shared between the CPU & GPU on the SoC, having more RAM can enable games to store more textures and models in RAM instead of having to pull the off your storage ( the 1TB you have for storage ). That way you have fewer loading screens and fewer stutters as it pulls resources into RAM. It won't make the GPU faster, but it'll make it more efficient and it'll make you happier with a smoother gaming experience. Enjoy that iPad!!
Apple should’ve tested and implemented thermal dissipating hardware like gaming phones to do, it’s definitely got the power to run these games smooth. Hopefully on the next one
The problem is, gaming is actually a fairly unimportant feature when it comes to sales, most people who buy an iPhone don’t give two shits about it so implementations to dissipate heat would not be high on Apples priority list.
Great video. On a lot of games on the 14 Pro, I found that touching the screen actually caused FPS drops bizarrely in a way previous iPhones didn’t. 2 games I most clearly noticed this were Pokémon Unite and Mario Kart Tour. Mario Kart Tour in particular runs at a locked 60 fps on an iPhone 12, but constantly drops an iPhone 14 Pro but only when touching the screen. I’ve been trying to work out if the same issue still exists on the 15 Pro. I think things look positive from this video, but it was of course an issue completely mitigated by using a controller so that could be the same here
Thermal throttling will always limit fanless devices like smartphones and tables unless manufacturers really opt for serious cooling (copper, heatpipes, active cooling). Still A17 Pro performance is incredible for a such a small fanless device. Apple should star using its chips to full potential and crank them to max with sufficient cooling and heat dissipation.

It's at the limit of what's technologically possible in this form factor currently. People have a warped sense of performance expectations. It wasn't until this gen of PS5/Xbox Series X that 60 fps became commonplace in 'performance modes', and it's still not stable for many titles.
You cannot expect every single game to hit 60fps when most of the limitations come from the thermal limitations. All iPhones are thermally limited and could do more if their cooling systems were better
Please make a video showcasing the "Game mode" on Mac. Would like to see if it really makes a difference when it comes to latency and delivering more consistent frame rates.
