- Russian President Vladimir Putin visited the Kalashnikov Concern’s shooting range and tested the company's brand new sniper rifle in Kubinka on Wednesday.
After inspecting the experimental samples of the rifles, Putin shot five times with an SVCh-308 (Chukavin sniper’s rifle) rifle at a target from a distance of 600 meters. Three of the president's shots successfully hit the target.
According to Kalashnikov, the SVCh-308 rifle is designed to engage the enemy's manpower at small and medium distances. It can be used in conditions of combined arms combat as well as for keeping a cover. The rifle's small dimensions allow the shooter to do without additional weapons, which increases mobility.

Not sure, but there was definitely a reason, whether it was to test something, or meant for a "photo opportunity", or for WHATEVER reason. He has military training, so it wasn't simply because he didn't know what he was doing.

Twan 619 what most likely is happening here is that they slapped a suppressor on a rifle without adjusting the gas settings. Suppressor can have a huge impact on how a gun cycles. Not only that but the type of ammunition used whether subsonic or just regular in combination with the suppressor adds to the rifle not being able to fully cycle. THUS having to manually cycle a semi auto rifle. BUT ANY OBVIOUS GUN OWNER WOULD KNOW THIS ;)

After his first shot, he cycled the action like it was a bolt rather than a semi, and ejected a live round onto the table (:14), so they quickly cut the tape and removed the round for the next shot....

:13 lol I did THE EXACT SAME thing the first time I fired a semi-auto rifle. (I was just SO used using a bolt-action that I did it out of a force of habit lol). My buddy laughed, "Lol, dude dafauq are you doing? Its a Semi-auto, remember? Lol". At that moment, I realized how much easier using a semi-auto rifle was compared to a bolt-action and why they're so widely used. Lol (I would LOVE a chance to shoot a long-range, sniper varient of a kalash like this one!)

Not exactly, ejecting a live round by mistake is not noteworthy, it is a semi auto rifle, it ejects spent casings automatically. He is a self proclaimed expert on such things but an expert would not have made this obvious error. That being said, he does try to keep up to date on new weapons as any president should.

if you use slow 0.25 on the vid, it doesnt look like the scope hits him after all, just him who get jerked back by the recoil, his just as close on 2nd shot to, no one at their right mind would done that if they just got hit by the scope as it hurts as hell.
