The stones are heated and then they warm the room after the fire is completely out. I don't think this volume of stones will really help much, but it's better than nothing.
Alaskan here, we keep stones around our wood stove because they hold in heat. then later when you go to your room, take a hot stone, and put it in your earthen ware jar with lid to help slowly radiate heat in room . perhaps those are for similar reason, retaining heat longer in the shelter, rather than just burning wood... oh, never mind lol
Each time I watch your videos I think to myself “he’s a mountain goat!” It’s in a complimentary way of course, I’m jealous of your ability. I’m an extreme sports person, I have little fear of most experiences, but what you do scares the hell out of me! I have to halfway put my hands over my eyes when watching you walk confidently over ledges with drops on both sides. I can’t catch my breath when you’re navigating snow covered stone while vicariously holding onto a rope. You’re to be greatly admired. Thank you for sharing with us your amazing adventures. God Bless
You could easily make these videos longer. They're never boring. The bivouac stays are interesting, and the scenery is always magnificant. The birds were fun addition. Nice one, thanks for sharing.
Highly technical climbing, an incredibly chill and fearless attitude, an apt reverence for the mountains and natures creatures, plus every video comes with a cooking segment! You even remind us all to brush our teeth! Love the subtitles - they really add a fun touch to read how you spell out your exclamations. Your navigation skills are amazing, I assume you check your route/position via some version of gps? Be great to see how you do that. Thanks for being so humble, too many RUclipsrs are way too focused on sponsors and all. Thank you so much Andraz.
The rocks serve as a thermal mass for heating after the fire has extinguished. Place them at the foot of the bed, and you will be grateful to whoever brought them to the cabin. Thank you for sharing these awesome videos.
The rocks also collect heat and dissipate it slower throughout the night keeping the hut warmer. I've used bricks (easier to stack) also on a wood stove.
That stove needs at least 2 meters more stovepipe outside. It isn’t drafting well at all. Hence the smoke. Love your videos. As a 4th generation Montanan of Slavic descent, my constant desire to get into the mountains now makes complete sense! Keep up the great work!
There probably was more stovepipe at one point, but was lost to the winds. I wonder if he checked around to see if it is stored inside, like under one of the beds?
You’re right, but as long as there are so many holes in the stove, I don’t think a longer pipe would help enough for it to work properly 😅 Hahah makes sense, the slavic urge to climb a mountain is real! Thank you & have a great day 😀
Exactly! Don't let yourself be stressed because you think your viewers demand more. Take your time! It wouldn't be the same if you would let the RUclips algorithm or some vague "expectations" dictate your plans. Stay as you are, you're a perfect inspiration. Thank you for your wonderful videos! Don't change!
I had me elbow reconstructed last week. I am so glad I found this channel two days before my surgery as it has kept me endlessly entertained for days while recovering. It has fast become a top 5 channel for me. Thank you Andraz.
For those times you want to bring your own firewood on a hike you may want to look into getting some compressed sawdust bricks. There is nothing added to them they are just normal sawdust that has been compressed with a lot of pressure into a brick. It should pack small and they are supposed to burn longer than normal logs. It’s worth looking into for you.
just finished watching all of your vids they are fun and beautiful sometimes scary, happy to see your back ! i was a bit worried for you , happy climbing !! i love the birds i love nature !! Thank you Andraz!!
I could never be bored with your videos. Your videos relax me and take me to places I know I could never visit or see but I feel I have made the journey too. What beautiful scenery . Thank you ❤️
WOW!! Your videos are so amazing my friend. I really appreciate your hard work to bring them to the world to see. Me and my wife always look forward to your beautiful videos. Thank you so much my friend 😊..
in my opinion (and anybody can chime in) i dont think much of us would be bored if u showed us more and the vid was longer. thank you and keep up the good work :D
You’re simply lovely to watch! I usually never comment on videos but your channel, the random tips, and your way of explaining things are so eloquent, not to mention the insane amount of patience & skill you have. Thank you for your videos, stay safe & inshallah, I hope to meet you someday, hopefully on an ascent :)
How cool is this trip! Glad you met some friends along the way. I'm super grateful that you bring us along on yet another awesome journey. I always feel like you're talking directly to us. Thank you kindly for the link and keep on doing what you are doing!
I love your vids! My ankles say no thanks, but thankyou for showing us what we’re missing out on. Please don’t stop these vids. Even if you had to go back, we still want to see what you’ve accomplished!
Made my comments already on Patreon, but I'll just add here that this is the best video you'll see on YT this year. Superb filming and editing. Generous weather gods, and exhibition of great flight skills by some choughs. 👌👌
Making the videos would not necessarily be a bad thing. I think most viewers would love to see as much of the breathtaking scenery as possible. I love watching these videos and following the vloggers that make them. Some of the worlds most beautiful places I will never see with my own eyes, but with content creators who bring them to us and share them, we can observe them through their cameras and enjoy them from wherever we are in the world. Thank you for bringing these amazing experiences to us. I look forward to watching your past and most defiantly, future videos.
The eyes are a very sensitive/important part of the body. It's very important we take good care of them. Good on you for wanting to look after yours. I don't have snow experience, but i have spent plenty of time out on boats and the sun at those times can fry your eyes in no time.
Love your videos Andraz. Videos like yours have inspired me to go out and get back into camping after I lost 120lbs. Really not going mountaineering, like you do, but, getting out and back into nature again. Thanks for the inspiration!
To prevent bad draft in the stove eka smoke indoors, a simple riser pipe for the kimmny could ne added on top of the T Junktion( it could be stored in the cabin when not in use,to prevent it gettin blown away)
This was a lovely journey to watch, thank you for filming the sunset for us. It was beautiful. I respect your approach to repairing shirts and used items too, I hope to see more people our age adopting sewing skills and wanting to have pride in our purchases and repair and reuse. What a refreshing video!
Andraz, I love watching your adventures, very inspiring. I love the outdoors, I am hardly ever inside. As a grandmother of 14, I am unable to do anything close to what you are doing but you still inspire me to get out and get moving and enjoy nature. The mountains are my favorite. Hello from Alberta, Canada! Keep doing what you're doing. :)
This is the first time I've ever seen a video like this - climbing the mountain in the snow and the view, etc, and all I can say is, "Wow, that is spectacular!!!" You make it look easy, and I'm sure climbing in those conditions and heights is anything but. Thank you! I'm excited to check out your other videos! Have fun & stay safe on your adventures!!!
Remember experiencing the most ticks i've ever seen on that route a couple of years ago. At the grass fields around the bivouac there were also the most flies, spiders and other creepy crawlies i've ever seen that high up before.
You really made my day, your choice of words are way too funny that I kept on giggling from time to time and I am amazed at the end with regards to your perspective, thank you for sharing this with us. Keep safe.
Bravo Andraz!! one of the beautiful videos I´ve seen in your channel, you choose the best moment to reach the top of the mountain, almost can feel the cold air!! keep it enjoying!!
I just somehow got here per youtube algorithm. And it was right! I love your videos, the content, cinematography, and the stories along with breathtaking views. And boy the suspense of the climb! I had to hold my breath and close my eyes. So young man…. You are amazing
Those rocks are like little heat-holders ! They soak up the heat from the stove and dissipate it slowly, keeping the space cozy for longer. The bigger the rocks, the better they are at keeping the warmth in!
As someone who climbs in British Columbia I kind of have it hard to wrap my head around bivouacs everywhere a ladders, fixed ropes etc. nonetheless impressed by how comfortable you are doing mixes snow/rock routes wearing crampons
I would love to see your failed tours as well. Maybe multiple in a 'fail' episode every now and again. I would really like to learn from your mistakes. So if you have time I would appreciate the content and lessons. Greetings from Germany
Why do I watch a guy doing things I will never get to do? Envy. That's why. I get to see things I'd never otherwise get to enjoy. Keep the content coming and stay safe and warm.
Man… that is some of the best footage I’ve seen you upload. Some really beautiful images, as you made that first descent from the peak. Losing use of your phone/ battery didn’t seem to hurt at all. At any rate, great job. 🫡
The stones are heated and then they warm the room after the fire is completely out. I don't think this volume of stones will really help much, but it's better than nothing.
Thermal mass and yes it's a small amount of mass but for such a small area I would think it might put out more than you think.
Also, maybe used as heaters in bed. They used to heat bricks in olden days and use them as 'hot water bottles'
Came to chat to say the same, my thoughts exactly
I think the fact that It has a stove is nice, it's helpful.
@@enibeni2071 definitely but a few modifications with maybe a kilo of sealant/gasket//fibre glass rope would do that place wonders x
Thanks for letting us couch warriors tag along on your journeys
speak for yourself! :D
Hahaha thanks to you for tagging along! 😀🙏
don't forget the bed warriors who fantasise about these trips after a 9 to 5 jobs on week days 😂

Wow - those birds at the summit were amazing!
They just spawned outta nowhere hahah. But they sure made the wait a whole lot more fun :)
I thought they wanted your banana bread
I thought the same. Think they want some bread 😅
The interlude with the birds was amazing. You really get a feel for the winds up there, watching them air surf.
That was the coolest thing to watch. 😊
You always get two of those at a top of any Slovenian mountain ;)
What bird are those?
@@AmerigoMagellan Alpine choughs :)
I laughed out loud at the little wiuiuiuiuiu as you wiggled the seemingly useless additional latch on the door. Adorable!
🤣🤣
It's a good day when Andraz posts a new video! Congrats on 80k subs
💯
Thank you brother, appreciate it! 🙏
Can't put my finger on exactly why, but this is one of the most enjoyable mountain hike videos I've ever watched.
It’s because Andra isn’t being egotistical, but rather he’s humble and just enjoying the trip.
Wow, thank you so much!!
That means a lot to me 🙏❤️

no its for sauna
The rocks also collect heat and dissipate it slower throughout the night keeping the hut warmer. I've used bricks (easier to stack) also on a wood stove.
I'd also suggest that you could use a hot rock to heat the bedding as well.
With your videos, do not change a thing, you are living the life young man.
The smoke and lack of good draft make me concerned about carbon monoxide buildup.
And a tube of stove cement would seal up the top of the stove better
You’re right, but as long as there are so many holes in the stove, I don’t think a longer pipe would help enough for it to work properly 😅
Hahah makes sense, the slavic urge to climb a mountain is real!
