    This is one of the reasons that USA Kilts & Celtic Traditions is my favorite station on the internet. Thanks Eric and the rest of the team, once again you've knocked it out of the park.

    I celebrated St. Andrew's Day November 30, 2019 and the 200th anniversary of St. Andrew's Masonic Lodge 282 in Scotland. My family was some of the founding Members. I was with friends and family that are still members of the Lodge. The party afterwards was .....ummm good ..there were survivors.

      But we should celebrate it as we’re losing so much of our culture & Scottish heritage & identity . It should be on the same level as Burns .

    Brilliant. Now I feel like I have permission to celebrate Saint Andrew's Day (like Saint Patrick's Day and Saint Brigid's Day) as a non-Christian/Catholic.

    Just a wee correction. The James who became James I of Britain and England was James VI of Scotland, not James VII. Apart from that it’s an enjoyable video 👍

      Perhaps your parents knew November 30 is the Feast of St. Andrew? It's common in Eastern Europe at least it was, to name babies after the St. Day closest to the child's birth.

      @sososo2445 i dont think so. Ive been told i was named after my fathers best friend and my family isnt really religious.

    Within Freemasonry is a sect called the Scottish Rite. Within the Scottish Rite is a smaller sect called The Knights of Saint Andrew

    What? Peter the first "pope?" Andrew "founded" the Orthodox Church? C'mon, Eric. (But, the rest of the video was great!)

    • @drewcoope
      @drewcoope Год назад +2

      The Apostles did indeed found the Orthodox Church. Of course, back in the first century it was just "the Church." The one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. But it wasn't through Andrew and Peter alone, but through all twelve apostles. Andrew is known as the "First Called," and Peter is "first among equals."

      St Andrew is the patron saint of Romania (even evangelised near Black sea).There is a cave there, where allegedly evangelised the getae and thraciansand the greek collonies there.

    +USAKiltsOfficial *Andari Ben Yōnah (אנדרי בן יונה) (Gk. Άνδρης βαρ Ιώνα), I presume?* As an autist who's _in_ to Yashar-Eli names, I's able to recover a few of 'em from the extant Hellenic, e.g. Shīmōn Ben Yōnah (שימון בן יונה) (Gk. Σίμος βαρ Ιώνα), later handled Kēfas (כפס) (Gk. Κήφας «πετρος») by Y'shua' himself.

    The story of St Andrew becoming our patron saint isn’t quite accurate
    Initially the Scots, Celts and Picts were united under St Columba, who they believed gave them victory over a far superior Northumbrian Army.
    It wasn’t until much later the church did what the church does and rewrote history because they didn’t want a Celt being patron saint of a nation they were trying to unite under the one church and offered up St Andrew, added the saltire in the clouds and bingo bango, pure Celtic kin are being replaced by a full on apostle
