The 6.1 is one of, if not the coolest looking power plant built-in many years and is most definitely relevant. In fact hellcat owners give thumbs up whenever I take her out for a drive, and was the beginning of it all. It's kinda like granddaddy, it gets the respect in my experience with it. Plus, they're very competitive on the street in real world conditions and are still a lot of fun to drive. 392s beat it on the top end every day & all day, but they are very close in a short distance and certainly do not dominate the 6.1

I have a black 2010 model and it’s pristine, no oil leaks or sweats anywhere, it’s got 83,000KM on it, no rust and fully treated underneath. 431 horses to play with and it’s surprisingly practical and comfortable, only nitpick I have about the car is that the rebound on the stock suspension is far too stiff, meaning that if you drive over a dimple in the asphalt at normal speeds, you’ll go down into the hole normally but when you come back up, the car rebounds too quickly which makes you bounce.
Other than that it’s really nice, been driving it well over 6000KM since I got it and I’m super satisfied with it :)

Hell yes they are still relevant, and is the best looking muscle car produced in many years. Even though it sounds pretty good, the stock pipes suck and the 6.1 is so much better with a good aftermarket 3" system that allows them to really open up and flow so much better. The SRT seats are super nice and bolstering is good, which is another advantage over other makes and can take them on road trips in comfort & style as well as the track. Most people don't realize how well they handle and are surprisingly good, with the Bilstein suspension and Brembo brakes to manage the wt

i had a 1995 loaded c4 corvette. i always had an affinity for the lt1 c4. i was looking for a challenger when i purchased the c4 but the challengers were way too expensive. fast forward to 2018 after many dollars later in the c4, it was a 3 owner vehicle, me included, i happened upon a 2009 hemi orange srt8 challenger automatic with just 10500 miles on it. for some reason people just were not interested in an older car, right next to it was a 30,000 mile 2008 srt8 challenger. i begrudgingly traded in my c4 for the 09 because i have finite money, finite space etc. the 09 was very well taken care of, i have 15600 miles on it as of 12-22-21. i love it, the most fun car i have ever owned. i am a mopar guy. i have a 2010 jeep and a 2011 ram. the challenger is awesome. it responds to all upgrades very well. it is way fast and comfortable. it doesnt handle like the corvette, but it is a straight away monster.

I have an 09 SRT8. My only complaints are having to turn off the traction control at every start. A toggle switch would be better. A backing camera would be nice with the poor visibility. The sound system isn't great. It isn't Bose quality sound like you'd get from a 20 plus year old Eldorado or Suburban. I actually liked the sound from my 98 Trans Am factory Monsoon better although replacing a speaker was a yearly chore with that car. Ride quality is great. 80MPH feels like you're barely moving and probably takes turns better than my Trans Am used to and that was a lot lighter car.

I own 3 of them...well just sold one to a collector in Buffalo..110k miles is nothing for the 6.1 hemi, just make sure the oil and maintenance was done regularly prior. Do expect some of the issues with front end suspension (tie rods, bushings, sway links) if you know how to replace suspension work, then don't hesitate. I've only ever had to replace the water pump on my highest mileage one (at 171k it started to small drip out of the weep hole) beyond that, they run strong. Oil catch can is a good mod for this car, worst thing is the cheaper dodge interior imo...I've owned two that the soft dash started to bubble (then again I had them shipped from hot climates)
