I do agree on the point where income is important -- I'm sure your parents must be so proud of you. I do hate the feeling that I'm still relying on my parents, financially even when I'm 20+, so I'm really grateful that i-firms subsidise PCLL and provide stipends/ maintenance in my PCLL year.

Sitting here today watching your video at 2am and getting excited about my Baker's clerkship interview soon, I can't imagine what you went through. I am surprised that your dad is a minibus driver back in Hongkong while most of the people that went to Cambridge who I know are from an upper-class family. I have to say you have done very well in your life and your videos have continue to keep me inspired to be a genuine person :)

Thank you so much Gordon! You inspired me to apply to TCs in the UK. I literally just done an AC a week ago. None of that would have happened had I not come across your channel. Happy Birthday!

Hi Gordon dude, great to hear your insights into lawyer life. I also just started and am almost a year into practising as a NQ lawyer in London. However, unlike you working in city firm , i work in a high street firm. I heard working in city firms can be different from working in high street firms.
In my 1st year as a lawyer i learned a lot. I haven't made big bucks like you in my 1st year. However, i have been given a lot of responsibility just few months into starting work. Many cases to handle but not big corporate deals...however, Lot of pressure at times, racing with deadlines. And the caseload seems to be growing slowly. Im also building client base , learning, earning all at the same time..7 days a week seems short nowdays. Im slowly getting the taste of lawyer life. Overall Law practise seems to be really diverse, and its great to hear from different areas.

It is quite difficult to find how Asian students like myself climb up the ladder in the law market here. I am on my first cycle of training contract applications before starting my law degree in September, and have been doubting whether my chosen path to become a lawyer in the UK would be feasible in terms of my academic strength, my personality and vice versa. Your video has definitely made my day brighter by knowing that there must be lots of Asians like myself who dream of one day becoming a lawyer in the UK. I should never give up! Cheers mate, and good luck with the remainder of your training contract!

Cheer up brother! I am also a future solicitor, former international student, I completely understand all the burdens you are going through but just learn to take these things easier, dont worry too much about the feedback, just focus on your progress and try to get better, but NEVER take it to heart whenever you might not get positive feedback / appreciation. Dont waste your nerves and energy on this and the work WILL feel a lot easier

Thank you Gordon for the video! It is so inspiring and motivating;)💯💯💯I just want to ask you one question.I have LLB in the country of civil law and one year of LLM in the UK. I would like to pass Bar exam in NY.Should I necessarily have LLM in the US in order to be able to pass it?or it is still possible with the background that I’ve already had. Thank you😊

    • @GordonChung

I think it’s possible to enrol in a course and study it online/yourself (I did that too without studying in the US)
