In another video, some tech recommended using a “power probe” to retract electronic brakes w/o ever explaining what the hell a power probe even was! I mean, if the person doesn’t have a good scanner, then there’s a good chance he doesn’t have a power probe, either! This video was extremely helpful, thanks!
I am a small engine mechanic and this is one of the best and most used in my box.
Brad Lloyd being a small engine mechanic, what specifically is it really nice to use on/doing ? Just got one for my buddy and was hoping to tell to him what it might be REALLY handy for...
Generator testing .
This makes short work (no pun intended) of Automotive Diagnostics. Worth Every Penny.
It also shows instant voltage drop between two points in power mode (as long as you don't press the toggle button). Good for testing for loose connections
Since I missed yesterdays video it's now a twofer Tuesday on my end. So that truck was sitting for seven years and now you guy's have the pleasure of using it in a cool tool Tuesday video. Now that's Cool
Just bought one yesterday used one a couple time this is just the video I needed
I was hoping to see y'all use the probe on the tail light problem lol. Thats what I'm having issue with. Thnx for showing what probe does.
Great video. If pictures are worth 1K words, videos must be worth 10K. Thanks for taking the time to do these vids.
As a young mechanic from the UK, this video was very helpful. Finding out how to use a tool to make my life easier and it explained in such a simple way. Amazing!
Got the power probe 4 about a month ago off the Mac truck he had a smokin deal on it. Have t had a chance to use it yet so this video helps a lot. Thank you good Sir and keep up the good work on the videos
Oh they’re so good! My uncle (also my mechanic when it’s out of my league) showed me how to use one a while back and immediately purchased one, you can’t beat these things
Thank you so much, I appreciate it honestly!! Thanks for listening to us fans,
Probably one of the best tools EVERY tech should have, couldn’t do without a power probe
Well... you could do without it, but you'd be broke.
the power probe can get you in trouble if you dont know what your looking for. you need a "LoadPro" and you will the the electrical master!!!!!
Thank you. I put a radio in a guy truck the other day and he had one of these and didn’t know how to use it and I didn’t either. I just always use a multi meter. This was extremely helpful thank you again.
Thanks for this video man, been debating purchasing one for awhile now! I only wrench in my garage now, but still think it will be worth grabbing one! Thanks!
Awesome video I got one today from my area MATCO rep and wanted to see how it actually is used correctly. Thank you for this video
THAT is one tool that has paid for itself and saved me SO much time.
Awesome video thank you for doing this and thanks to whoever suggested it
Thanx for the video Clay and Wally! 👍
Great video guys. I need to add this to my list.
One thing I didn’t here you guys say is just because it shows ground ( lit up green) when your probing things that doesn’t only mean that it’s a ground. It also means that it has a complete circuit to ground. Example when you did the blower motor test it shows ground meaning the circuit is complete. This is an awesome tool for electrical work but can also be harmful if your not careful
Excellent. Thanks guys.
Thank you for posting this.
Thank you guys. God bless.
Def need to buy one now! Thanks Wally
Enjoyed the video. Also subscribed. Keep it up
This is the one thing I have not got yet because i don't know what one i want the 3 -4 -or the hook. You guys keep up the good work
I have had one sitting in a drawer for over a year. Now I know, thank you.
Lmfao!!! We don't drug test that's the problem hahaha priceless
always funny when it's true lol
I know I'm kinda randomly asking but does anyone know a good place to watch newly released tv shows online?
Lmfao that cracked me up
Thank you. Great vidjao guys.good ole furd 👍
Good video y'all have a great one and stay safe 👍
Great video guys
Thanks bro. I have the hook. I now know how to use it. Thanks for the tutorial.
This was very helpful, thanks for sharing!😊
Glad it was helpful!
Finally 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Please make more videos like this I need all the help I can get 🙊🙊🙊
I love my PP3! It's in my top 5 tools.
Thanks for the video, very helpful, I bought a power probe a few months ago, and to be honest I was still afraid to use it wrong.
Thanks again . 👌
Awesome teaching video
Im using this technique on a transmission solenoid
Thank u mate excellent video
Thanks again pal
I bought one about a year ago. Havent really needed it until now. The DVD that came with it is useless in my opinion. I been looking through youtube videos to try and figure out how to use it . This one was helpful. I think its a great tool. Just figuring out how to use it. Thank You.
New shirts look sharp.
Awesome video! Thank you
Thank you for watching
Needed this also.
got one today. 🙏🏽 thanks
Thanks for the video, wish me luck.
Nice video guys
one thing to note awesome demo by the way. when they tested the starter solenoid and he got surprised by it showing ground is that a power wire depending how and what it is wired to will show ground unless switched on by either the ignition or some sort of switch and is under load then it will show battery voltage. be careful when wiring things and using available wires at the location you or wiring in as i have made this mistake and shorted a ECT guage lol.
Great video.
Thanks
Yep! Love that tool !
Damn man that is a nice toolbox in your profile pic !
Koon Trucking thank you so much sir!...👍🏼✌🏼🤘🏼👊🏼🇺🇸
Nice video
i really like my probe very useful
Nice Video ...Graciassssssssssssssss
I have the 3 3ez, iv and hook all by power probe, some of the best tools ever, I recently got the circuit finder and remote thermometers haven't got a chance to play with them yet, but a good DVOM and back it up with power probe anyone with basic electrical knowledge can get stuff done. The 3ez is like it's name says the easiest to use but you have a 4 and actually get to know it functions she will be a lady in the streets and a freak in the sheets lol.
I would like to see a video on the Harbor Freight VR Pro Scan Tool vs the SnapOn Scan Tool especially with the price difference
Nice ..thanks gents
Clay, that is one rough looking truck. Job security!
That truck was given to the guy to use as a hunting truck. He towed it in and drove it out. Been sitting 7 years or so
Yes 😭, I always wondered how to use it too
Damn I wish these videos were around in 2005 lol
Thank you for the run through on the power probe and for not asking how the f~€k am I 😂 keep up the fantastic videos Clay
Nichols, I know who you're referring to and that Feller couldn't put two intelligible words together if you paid him $10. I stopped watching his films almost two years ago, he's nothing but a bunch of talk, and is going to get his tongue sunburned.
Thank you for the video. Where can I get one of those trays on wheels that you put your tools on?
Great easy video on how to👍🏻 Have you had the chance to use the snapon version of the multiprobe? (which is also made by power probe) I like having the screen on that one. Not a big fan of the short finder, never have great reliability with it.
Lol, I am trying to diagnose my blower as well.
Never had one might have to put one in me tool box now
They are worth every cent.
Finally doing requests 😍😍😍😍😍
I have the power probe circuit tester it is an awesome tool that has help me find short to ground or open circuits on the Freightliner’s I work I don’t use it everyday or hell every week but when I do I just go to power probe RUclips and they have tutorials to give me a refresher. The truck in the video if I was working on it I would use the hook because it’s all in one so I can check power ground resistance and amps when it comes to older trucks wiring harnesses. Last but not least keep up the good work guys the channel is awesome the request I have is more paccar videos because they roll in the shop every now and again👍
Thanks bud
Cool
I always felt like a good understanding of electricity, electronics etc of how it all works is one of the keys to a good life because not knowing can throw up many unwanted obstacles
invest in a LoadPro and a fluke and you will want to do nothing but electrical work. with the proper wiring diagram and a loadpro you can figure out just about anything with some common since.
john hare we’ll do thanks for the help
@@thunderstruck5484 once you get one and figure out how to work it. you will never look back.
Sir hello one question you did mention the fluke by any chance can you provide me the model number on the fluke tool
my girl said " what up Wolly?"💌
Great video clay and the power probe is Wally proof lol
More videos like this
No drug testing, that explains those wild characters ;-)
thanks so much for the great video
could you explain the difference between a power probe and a multimeter? can a multimeter be used in the same way to diagnose electrical problems? keep up the good videos
A multi meter only reads it can’t send power or ground. It just measures the current, amps or voltage etc
I’m pretty good with a multimeter and think it’s time for me to get one of these. Can these also test fuses? If so, how? How about relays?
Just FYI, I hooked up our brand new one backwards on a 24v truck and while I was preparing to work it burned out! Started smoking. It doesn’t have protection for reverse hookup apparently. 😂
That is a bad boy to have
Why did the Jeep (mentioned at the end) cut off or stall? My caddy keeps stalling at idle but all tests are good. Thinking my solenoid is bad but idk how to test it with this tool.
That is pretty cool probe. Can you do a vid on if there is any easy cheap tricks to squeeze out some extra power out of a 2011 MX13 Paccar?
Delete it
bore and stroke it. bigger turbo and injectors and a aftermarket engine management system
Kool looking tool. But will it work on a 6 volt Positive ground system??
I could've used this about 2 months ago, but being mexican, the good old saying for is, it isnt Mexican if it isnt late 😬😂
Shoot get one and you will love it. They really help things out a lot. A LOADpro is a great Tools also. I plan on doing a video on it.
I have one. It saves so much time
Have you got the ect 3000
Very Informative. Now I'll get to probing!
Thank you
Great video. Is bill the only one in your area who can fix fords, he is always working on fords or big trucks. Ford needs to send mr. Joes tool truck to you to fix because they are not getting the job done.
We work on a lot of fords but we also only have a ford Dealer here so everyone has fords for the most part
Will it test a coil pack to see which one is faulty
Regarding 4:20 when testing components how do you identify the ground and power (vcc?) Pins?
You can use a test light or a power probe. Green show ground. Red shows power on many of the digital test lights / Powerprobe
Do the ect300 short finder
Matco sells the replacement micro switch when you wear that bad boy out
Wait so if your tracing a bad ground and the motor is still plugged in it will read hit as ground as u showed the bench test
👍👍👍👍👍
Come in handy I need one how much
I have a 1992 7.3 IDI I installed an electric fuel pump and the truck started to run and if I cut the truck off and try to crank it right back up it will start right up but if it sits for an hour or longer the truck will be hard to start I can’t figure out why it is loosing its prime if it’s on the sending side and when I don’t have the key switch on it’s leaking back into the tank or if it’s on the return side and leaking out of a pin hole any suggestions would be appreciated thanks
Probably the fuel injector pump itself they are notoriously bad for wearing out and loosing prime. Or not starting back when they are hot.
@@KoonTrucking I was hoping you weren’t gonna say that
For them to be so old they still brake the pocket book
Thanks for the help I’ll check into it when I get a chance
What kind of service tray do you have? And do you like it ?
Yes it is the bluepoint underhood cart/tray
The power probe is a lot quicker than a voltmeter for checking fuses
Have you used your new power probe test light yet?
Yes i got one and did and recorded a video today on it
Execellent video, What separates a Power Probe from an "analog multimeter"? Also which multimeter is better? Digital or analog?
Analog if you’re watching for fast fluctuation in voltage. A multimeter isn’t sending power on demand, only measuring the input selected on the dial/buttons.
So basically unless you’re watching for some super quick voltage change, power probe every time.
@@jc199159 thanks for your insight. i appreciate it
We don't drug test. That's the problem. That was hilarious.
Short finder is the bees knees.
How can i turn on the sound of power probe??
Wally proof!!! Lol 😂
We don't drug test so that's the problem, lmfao
I'm not as proficient on my electrical/electronic diagnostics yet as I wanna be and I'm trying to improve. That Power Probe is one item that's been on my "needs" list for a while. On a topic not related, Mr. Clay, how is that Gearwrench tool set you bought from Mr. Joe for your Service Truck been holding up for you?
Great
Koon Trucking no quality issues worth talking about with the Gearwrench stuff? I’ve had minor issues with some of the reversible ratcheting wrenches. But, I’m trying to give Gearwrench a chance. I bought and used the 3/8” swivel head ratchet without any issues so far. I like the length of the ratchet and compared to the Carlyle version it has a slimmer profile.
I haven’t had any. In fact the X Core swivel adapters have been some tough SOB’s ! My half inch is floppy and had a ton of wear but it is still hanging in there. In fact I just got the 1/4” Gearwrench torque wrench with angle.
@@KoonTrucking are you referring to the Gearwrench 1/2" flex-head ratchet?
