- Wow what a beautiful song. Both versions are amazing and while I am biased to Sungjin I do enjoy the band version more just because the guitars and all of the members voices bring something unique to the song. Like wow the song has so much damn emotion that you feel lost in the lyrics as they are singing🥺 , such a great recommendation, thank you guys!

sungjin literally wrote afraid and yes it was a cry for help bcos he wrote this song and cover when he was going thru depression.
I would really just recommend every song from the book of us : entropy. They’re all so different so I couldn’t even pick one 😂
Jae said that SungJin raspy voice is self-made. SungJin actually came into JYP as a singer, he then had very clear voice. As Day6 was debuting, SungJin was told to develop a unique voice. That's how SungJin voice is as is now.
I used to wonder how a man with raspy voice can sing such high notes until I heard Jae's explanation.

jae said on his stream that their voices are so clean/clear, back then. as a band, they need to have that one raspy voice, and it became sungjin. i don't know too if he volunteered or he got voted. i mean, i love his voice too, not only his voice holds so much emotion, just- look, at his eyes. it sparkles.
Heyyy. Thanks for reacting to this! Jae's lead but they switch from time to time in some songs. Both versions are really great. The song in itself is really great... Sungjin worked on this without the rest of the members. I'm crying. And when you said it sounds like a cry for help, it's exactly what it is because he and Jae went on hiatus for mental health issues right around the time this was released. They didn't actually get to promote the album where this was from. :(
Btw, the demo was released as per Jae, Wonpil and YoungK's suggestion. Like they kept mentioning it during their individual vLives/IG lives. Jae said they urged Sungjin to release it as a solo but it was Sungjin's decision to have the whole band sing it. Sungjin finally released the demo after mydays requested it when he went on vlive 2 months ago. 🥰

I can't wait for you to listen to a whole album... especially The Book Of Us Entropy. You need to listen to their whole discography to see how high standard their songs are (even b-sidetrack like Afraid) and how versatile their talents+voice when bringing new genres. We have a lot of song like this, and each comeback day6 really make a deeper ballad/power ballad. My Day usually argue between these songs: Colors, I Need Somebody, Goodbye Winter, Still, Like a Flowing Wind, Afraid and Where the sea sleeps. The latest unit comeback Where the sea sleeps is quite a mood wrecker, cause a lot of mydays are crying because of the song, the story in the mv and the absent of Sungjin+Jae in the comeback.
Awesome react! Sungjin really wrote this song and the other members had recommended him to release it as solo but he insisted to play it as a group. 😁 You should also try sweet chaos and time of life
i would recommend Day6-Stop the rain i think it shows thier vocal ability the best especially sungjin and you would like it. Its massively underrated

For their Everyday6 Project they put out 2 songs every month with 1 title track and 1 b-side track, and their b-side tracks are amazing as well! I esp. recommend 'Goodbye Winter' (from their January release) and 'I Would' (from their March release) Sungjin esp nails it in these two songs
