Poor human babies on the other hand are born utterly defenseless and helpless and die if you touch them the wrong way. It's actually quite interesting - from a developmental point of view, human babies are born premature compared to other apes. This was an evolutionary compromise as our brains were becoming so large that something had to give - either the pelvic opening had to get bigger, our brains had to get smaller, or our babies had to be born somewhat underdeveloped. The latter was what fate chose. It's also why our babies are born without their skull completely fused.
