I personally feel there weren't enough Isak and Sunja scenes where you see the love built between them. I was so sad when Isak was taken away. I love Steve's performance as Isak. He's so soft-spoken like a pastor and really encompasses his strong desire for social justice well in portraying his character. He plays a very humbling, loving father character well, but also can be cool, calm and collected when being belittled by Hansu. I hope to see more of Steve's work in the future. 😍
there was even less of that in the book though T____T it was more about sunja realizing she didn't realize/express her love for him enough but i was comforted from the book that she did truly love him...BUT maybe season 2 will be different seeing how they do take liberties from the book to make the show a little more dramatic and flesh out the characters deeper..honestly their slowburn chemistry was sooooo good T_T

Pachinko has introduced a whole new raft of actors to me. I've watched countless Korean dramas and have never come across Steve Sanghyun Noh but I shall definitely look up his back catalogue! Pachinko is good but the book is amazing...highly recommend the book to everyone. :)

Noh Sanghyun baewoonim played the character so convincingly, it made me wonder if pastor was his future calling in life? (But with his looks I think it would be very hard for people to concentrate on his sermons, hahaha). I can't wait to see what his future holds- he's so talented! The casting director was daebak- hit jackpot w/ the cast. I remember once when I was very little, I overheard my great-grandfather speaking Japanese. No one told me he could speak it. When I asked my mom, she wouldn't answer me. She told me later about the occupation & that he would never buy anything Japanese bc of what he experienced (no hate. I love my Japanese friends) But watching this really made me sad for the older generation that had to go through such hardship/difficulty/oppression at that time. It also makes me feel mad respect for the older gen (resiliency is the perfect word to describe that generation that they use to describe Sunja). I can't get any sleep bc I keep re-watching it over & over again (4 times already- help me!). **PACHINKO is so well-acted, beautifully directed, sad, emotional & captivating-- seriously just perfect! Can't sing enough praises to everyone involved!
Yes, I like this actor., Steve Noh (Sanghyun). I'm especially happy that he speaks English fluently. He played the pastor in Pachinko so well with his soft-spoken voice and kind demeanor. Hoping to see that he is out of jail in the sequel; the scene with Noa chasing the car with the pastor in it was heartbreaking.
Wish more scenes on Isak inner development and family bonds with his wife and his sons.. pity he got caught so early.. hope to see Steve in season 2 😭😭
