I got one of their albums on vinyl and listened to it recently. I remembered Got no say in it, but I was actually shocked at the high quality of the music. I agree with you, that they were one of those bands which didn't get proper recognition for their talent 💗🌵

Women were just more feminine back then. In this era feminists put down femininty as being weak and think they need to be masculine. But femininty has its own real power and the mystery and allure of it will make men do almost anything to be around it and appreciate it.
This is a really special track. It features all the tropes of the Eighties new wave sound, but is shrouded in darkness. A powerful, disturbing & underrated masterpiece.
They were. One could see many bands for a few dollar. I saw INXS at the Chevron Hotel $4, Aussie Crawl at Selinas $6, ACDC for $2 at Marana hall Hurstville in 1975( we did not pay as we snuck in from the side exit door). All gone replaced by mindless poker machines and other forms of gambling, no live entertainment anymore.
The title music was released in Germany under the film title: Crabs...We are the future (1986). I saw it on VHS in the 80s with the title Escalation. I haven't forgotten the music to this day and have now found it again. Great
Love the Macca's.. Aussie az... For the first time, I think realised, how Propaganda and Trevor Horn influence this track, production wise.. To be clear , listen to Duel AND Jewel... ;
Maybe, but not Joy Division. "No say in it" was my favourite from Machinations. Had it on a mixed pop tape in 85. Just about anything 80s gets me buzzing these days. Nostalgia and all that.
I still have my copy of 1985 On Fire compilation cassette with this song on it. I remember the album came with a choice of two covers. I also remember the Target store where I bought it, what their store layout was and where the tape was on the shelf. (I remember weird things like that.)

But oh darling my heart's on fire
Oh darling my heart's on fire

Well I don't know where and I don't know when
But I know we'll be lovers again
I'll see you someday before the end
I don't know where and I don't know when
But oh darling my heart's on fire
Oh darling my heart's on fire
Oh darling my heart's on fire
For you
