When they start making monkey noises it sounds like the most out of place sound to hear in Northern Wisconsin. Sounds more like something you'd hear in a tropical rainforest. So cool

Yes indeed! Love these fellas here in North Texas ❤ Seems like the caterwauling or monkey sounds are in March and April...maybe, mating season?

That is most definitely the best microphone owl call I have ever heard you must have some kind of real good microphone to have gotten that bird that good or you had that microphone up in the tree that the owl just happened to light in. Either way excellent makes me wish I still have my JBL Studio speakers in the Marantz audio system to play this outside at night and see how many of these beautiful birds show up to my house of course they're already all around my house. Way to go dude or girl or whoever got this recording.

Awesome as always. I used to garden in my front yard at night, thanks to a bright porch light, just so I could see my resident barred owls come to land on my roof and on my tree and call to each other. Then they'd do the catawalling and it was awesome. Thanks for the memories!

This channel made me realize after well over a decade of arguing with barred owls in the woods of northwestern Wisconsin that I was mostly inviting them to be my mate. Thankfully there are plenty of wild rodents around here so I'm helping them find food at the end of the night.

Amy Pond I’m located in Tacoma - I love listening to them. However up until tonight, I was unsure of what type of owls were making the noise. Nice to put a face to them :) though, I only hear the mating call... The territorial “laughing” is quite spooky

I knew it! It WAS an owl! Ok so my bro and i. Were cammping in my pearint's woods. And I heared a noise. So strange I sat up in my sleeping bag out of a dead sleep. Grabbed my dagger and unsheathed it. I was pointing the blade at the teant door. Jonas asked "What's wrong G.G.?" I said "Nothing... It's nothing just go back to sleep. I was so scared! I never have been wokein up out of my sleep! It sounded like a door hinge and a spring!

Heard them early this morning around 4:15 a.m. for the second time in 6 months. The first time it scared the heck out of me because I had no idea what it was. The caterwauling sounded like wild monkeys in the Amazon jungle, I was truly scared but now that I know what's making these noises I absolutely love it. I heard at least 3 of them this morning! Way to get this AMAZING recording!

Barred Owl where is your FB page? I'm just learning, so bear with me,I can call them in, but it took 4 years to really have patience, and woods is my backyard, and pond too. But I love that I'm in a subdivision, on a court of 3 homes. Go out back, return to the woods, best of both worlds! So now I've discovered a pair of barred owls I had heard these last 3 years, I'd never knew, in 23 years we lived here!

I appreciate the space between calls. Feels more realistic, the owls around me call about every 5 to 10 minutes when they are calling.
