  • UPDATE NOV 2022
This fishing boat sank in bad weather 6 miles off Cadgwith Saturday 12th November but happily Captain Brett and his colleague were rescued by the Lizard lifeboat. Never under-estimate the power of the sea!
Cadgwith, Cornwall and a north Atlantic storm has influenced some bad weather systems down as far as Cornwall.
Here, the last of a fishing fleet attempts to make a landing at Cadgwith. It’s a real team effort and the signs of danger are present all around from a narrow entry into the bay in rough seas and being struck by the boat as the fishermen jump off to secure ropes to the bow of the ship for the toe line.
One of the other fishermen mentioned it was the hairiest beaching he'd seen in goodness knows how many years working that beach!
It’s so easy to order a cod and chips at your local chippie and not think about the risks some people take in their daily lives to get your food on the table.
A big salute to the fishing folk.
