I'm autistic and don't need fixing. Neurodivergent vs Neurotypical is like Mac vs PC...it's simply a different operating system. NOT a disorder. Also, her referring to us as all having the same challenges is annoying; it's a SPECTRUM. We are all different.
The husband (?) sitting next to this obnoxious woman was giving off "I don't her. She just sat next to me" vibes. She and company, absolutely offensive!

As a former special education teacher and the grandmother of a neurodivergent grandson there is more wrong than I can even articulate. Trying to force anyone to do the things that are considered “normal” is so misguided. Look my kid is ok because he can swing or ride a bike. No your kid is ok because he is ok and your job is to help him find his best ways to live. Every student I was privileged to work with who came with a diagnosis of autism or on the spectrum had so many gifts and skills. It was our responsibility to give them tools and safe spaces to learn how to use them. My grandson is 24, graduated with a degree in computer science and now working as a computer lab tutor proudly tells people that he is autistic and that’s what gives him such great abilities. So this “desperate” plea from parents trying to heal/fix/cure their son is just sad or misguided. This company preying on parents is evil.
As someone who grew up on the autism spectrum that wasn't diagnosed until 18, this is gross. Do NOT try to 'fix' people with autism. Especially children! Learn to accept them for who they are. Our brains are wired differently from neuro-typical people and should be celebrated, not try to 'fix.' Edit: Autistic is such an old term. I prefer neuro-divergent, because that's what it is. A difference in the brain.

"Is this child consenting to using this?" Honestly, a lot of people care about autistic childrens' consent even less than they care about neurotypical childrens' consent. It's awful :(
Unfortunately that's how it is with all neurodivergent and disabled children and people in general, idk how many times I've heard people thinking I can't consent to something so they instead immediately turn to my mom to ask questions etc when IM RIGHT HERE! Like stop babying and infantalizing us geez
I'm autistic (and as a personal choice I prefer the term autistic over person with autism), and the thing that jumped out to me was the physical breakthroughs their child had at age nine were virtually identical to mine. It took me until nine to ride a bike and maybe a year younger to be able to swing. I was undiagnosed and untreated. Sometimes kids just have development on their own timeline.
maybe it’s my over protective auntie vibes but that man in the prison orange shirt nodding his head like a goof is pissing me off. may my preciously perfect neurodivergent nephew never be touched by any scam promising to fix him.

Saying "the autistics" is giving the same vibe as a homophobe unironically using the term "the gays." Just an overtly obvious form of othering. Anyway sounds like they're on the fast lane to their kid leaving as soon as he possibly can because they just wanna "fix" him rather than finding him proper support.
stem cell therapy DOES NOT work for people on the spectrum. People on the spectrum are literally BORN this way. He didnt get diagnosed until 4 years ago, but 8ish years ago and even further back didnt want to "diagnose" him with ASD because he was "too young". I knew from when he was 3 months old and not hitting milestones "on time" he was always a few weeks to a couple of months behind. But his pedi, that was my pedi, always said its "average" for him. And never ever once tried to put him in a box or judged him based on some archaic chart. this damn patch has done NOTHING. Exposure to said activities and therapies will eventually help these skills and milestones come along. Why don't these people want to give credit to themselves for the work and time they themselves have put in to help their child achieve these things?!
For anyone who needs to hear it, if someone is trying to sell you a stem cell treatment but their only description of the type of stem cells is "old" and "young," this is a red flag.
Yes, most of us prefer to be referred to as autistics rather than people with autism because we see it as a core part of who we are. And while most of us DO have motor issues, it's not 98% and almost everyone can use a swing (in fact, loving to swing is a common feature of autism).
Other people in the comments are saying they're upset about that. I genuinely don't want to offend people but I genuinely don't know now how to address autistic people because some comments are saying "autistic" is offensive and others are saying they prefer it
stem cell therapy i can be used as an alternative therapy for progressive MS at the beginning of MS, but many people with MS choose to not use it because it can kill them. For Ms it makes sense to change the cells in the small hope that it will reprogram the immune system to stop attacking the protective covering of the nerves and the nerves .I don't have autism, but the idea that someone would risk their child's life in order to try to cure autism (although autism is not a disease, and from a medical point of view does not pose a danger to our body) is very sad and worrying.
I'm an autistic mom of autistic kids. I call us "Autists" or "Autistics".. It comes before gender, nationality, or religion in my self identification, because it dictates my life experience more than anything else. You can't cure my autism. There are *millions* of ways to relieve the distress I experience in life, but most of them have to do with accommodation and equity- not 'brain' or 'wellness' products.
These reps always act like autism is a terminal illness. Its so sad listening to the way they talk about it. they refuse to accept their child as they are. Also if the idea of the patch is to make "young " stem cells why would a child benefit? Arent their stem cells already young and strong and optimized? How can you make a 4 yr olds stem cells "younger"? And why would that make any difference?
To any life wave rep, you better believe me when I say if any of you came at me with autistics, you will meet one hell of a fiery momma. Having 5 children on the autism spectrum to insinuate this patch can “fix” autism is abhorrent. It isn’t autism that needs fixing, it’s peoples lack of understanding around it. It’s not condition, it’s not an illness, it’s a bloody super power in many ways.
Thank you! It's the fact that people think it needs to be fixed is what causes the co-morbid CPTSD diagnosis alongside being on the spectrum from what a lot of my friends who are diagnosed (and self diagnosed) have mentioned. Thank you!
What people on the autism spectrum call themselves is often quite personal. It has more to do with “how” a thing is said than the specific words. Also, mother of adult Autistic Spectrum people here, I HATE this. Our kids don’t need magic “cures”, they need accommodations, patience, trust, and RESPECT!
Thank you SO much for covering this. As a ASD mama and someone that is ND I’m so tired of people trying to “cure” something that doesn’t need a cure and preying on the struggles parents face.

I understand trying to help the child maneuver and function in this world, but the way that lady was speaking, it seemed like more than that. It gave me the ick.
Any time companies try to profit off of false claims and "cures" it makes me so triggered. It's so harmful and just gross. As a person who was recently late diagnosed with autism and who has other family members with it, this disgusting pile of **** makes me so livid. Also, to your question, as an autistic person, no, calling people "autistics" the way she is imo is offensive and gross. I cant speak for everyone but if someone referred to me that way, in this context, I'd be incredibly offended. In general I'd say its fine, but context matters.
“A lot of autistics are able to spell, but they’re not spelling through writing! Because this right here is so incredibly hard for them!” This comment just blew my mind because there are autistic adults who write for a living. What is she talking about??? 🙃

Their child might have had a good day because their parents are happier today and hopeful so are interacting with me more positively and less nervously. Reminds me of the down syndrome ad we have here showing basically "you expect me to be able to do nothing so you don't let me do anything so i end up not doing anything. If you change your actions my world will be bigger"
Autistic here: the only type of medication or treament I would hypothetically feel the need for, would be to help me regulate my emotions and sensory problems. I don’t need to be «cured» from autism, because it’s not an illness or a disease. And I hesitate to say medications really, because ideally I’d rather learn how to regulate my emotions without any medication, (which I’m currently doing, since the diagnosis is pretty new for me), but in the hypothetical situation that there would be a medication available, I’d not need a vaccine or medicine that «removes autism» or anything of the sort. I’d only feel the need for something to help me regulate to avoid meltdowns, and I’d figure out how to do it without medication through therapy or through my health care provider. That being said, if any autistic person for whatever reason, would want a «cure», I’m not going to shame them for that or anything like that. That would be their right, because it is their body and their own personal opinions and decision. And as long as it would not affect me directly, it has nothing to do with me. Although I would feel awful about it, and it would make me feel bad, it is ultimately a personal thing. But, this is just what I think based on what I know so far. I could change my opinion in the future, but as it is now, I think it is support and help with problems that is needed. Not a «cure».
I am a person who has autism. For me, I wish to have my personhood acknowledged. I'm a person with something, I am NOT the thing. But personal preference is personal 😊
I'm autistic, and usually I find the person first etc debate a waste of time, we've got bigger issues that we need to sort about society before we get to that. In saying all that, I've discovered a new ick, autistics. Ew, that's all I can say 😂
Their poor child. Am I the only one who thinks they are abusing their child, don't accept their child and now are profiting off of their child selling pseudoscience 🐂💩? That was a very hard watch. 😡🤬😡
Idk about abuse (I don't think we have enough info to know either way), but they certainly don't seem to accept the kid as they are at all. It's also so sad that they're using their child to sell this bull. I agree.
9 min in - Ma'am, your child who you have been teaching to ride a bike suddenly managed it. and you got a new communications aid and he has things to express. These are not patch related. I can't ride a bike; but I can ride a keep fit static bike (doesn't depend on my balance). Can getting used to the pedal action on the pelo help learn to ride off the pelo? makes sense. As for spelling boards various non verbal communication aids are available and a new resource can feel very 'unlocking' because people can be understood more easily; it is not that there is a sudden change in a persons mind but that other people see more of what was already there.
As a neurodivergent person, I wish people could just accept their child as they are. While autism can cause difficulties in learning and also social interactions, it is a part of who they are. It is not something you can cure. There are therapies that can help them with their developmental difficulties. But they are people with feelings and their autism is not something to be fixed. Do everything you can to help them through physical therapy, occupational therapy, and working with a psychologist. But please just love them and accept them as they are.
As an Autistic, parents that try every snake oil under the sun to cure their kid's Autism strike me as the type of people who don't believe that they need their kid's consent.
I don’t find people that refer to me or my children as autistic being offensive at all. We’re not ashamed of it. It’s not a slur. It’s a part of who we are, not a condition we have. Although it’s a personal choice, many autistics feel the same. We don’t say “person with blindness” or “person with deafness.” We don’t “have” something, It’s literally differences in the brain. It’s who we are.
I think "autistic" as an adjective feels fine to me, and "person with autism" is okay if kind of unnecessarily clunky, but being called "an autistic" makes me uncomfortable. I am autistic, that's not something to be ashamed of. But imagine calling someone who's deaf "a deaf" or even a gay person "a gay". Again, "she's gay" is fine but "she's a gay" feels... off. Isn't that weird/ kind of reductive? It feels reductive to me, but maybe that's just me.
I'd like to add that it's also a personal thing: if someone in conversation describes *me* in a certain way that bothers me, I'd say something, and they can respond how they'd like. I don't need to police anyone else's language on the internet, I just wanted to share my personal opinion!
I don't have an issue with saying autistic or autism but NOT to sell MLM products. It's offensive in this manner. As far as being a parent of a now adult on the spectrum along with several other diagnosis, it's very offensive to say you can cure it. You can't. You can find therapies and doctors and some meds help with certain things. But there's nothing wrong having autism.
@@ErinBies thanks so much for doing this and exposing this exploitation. I know dealing with content like this takes its own toll. I am passing this along to friends in the disability justice community, there’s a whole group of folks dedicated to prevention charlatans from selling snake oil (or in this case a strange little piece of Saran warp) to folks with disabilities, caregivers etc.
Desperate people do desperate things. Theses things are usually emotionally based and not scientifically based. I feel for the parents and hope they are not inadvertently harming their child.
Even if that patch could "activate" stem cells, it wouldn't affect autism because it's genetic. It runs in families. (That woman strikes me as being on the spectrum herself.) You can't change a person's basic DNA. While some autistic people have severe symptoms and could use things to improve their quality of life, curing it is neither possible nor advisable for most people.
I have a 33 yr old daughter who was injured the day she had mnr and polio v a x at 12 months old, she's now 33yrs old!! She will always be dependent on me, her body couldn't take the toxins BUT she's had that darn title of autistic!!! Often I say "Special Needs". Let me tell you how many people have told me I need to put my adult needs child on these patches, soooooo many!!! Its over $120 a month for these sticky patches that release whatever toxins are in the glue into my child? No. When I had back pain I had someone send me for free these patches, one month and I felt no different. These claims are CRAZY!!!!!!! Why didn't she do before videos and after videos of the child's behavior? That would have been more convincing.
I heard a podcast about stem cell injections and in these cases where you go to these clinics, especially out of the country is a scam. It doesn’t really do anything and the risk of infection from these injections is really high. Go see your doctor if you think stem cells are something you want to try.
I think the same word can be used bad or good. A person say I’m autistic or I have an autistic child could be super affirming. Some lady yelling auuuuutistiiiiics at us at 100 db sounds gross.
One more thing! I've had people tell me it's infrared light therapy, ummm I do infrared a few times a week under the red bulbs ... that patch is not a light bulb in any form.
I'm neurodivergent and hence around a lot of autie people. "Ausitics" feels like a slur whereas you can say "autie" or "on the spectrum". This while video gave me the ick and this is why a lot of people on the spectrum have trauma. Stop "white knighting" autistic people. Just stop.
I’m also very uncomfortable with the term “autistics”. I much prefer the term “person/child who has autism”. The individual is so much more than their diagnosis.
Many many autistic people prefer to be referred to as autistic. It is a part of who they are. Using person first language actually focuses on autism as just something they are diagnosed with. It’s not a disease. There is nothing wrong with referring to blind people as a blind person, for example. I personally find “person with autism” as offensive. Being autistic isn’t a condition someone has, it’s literally part of their identity.
Um, autistic is not a noun, so I don't like her saying "autistics". It sounds to me like her son has slower development than a neurotypical child. Which autistic children can have. There may also be other comorbidities, like intellectual/learning disability, etc. I'm not here trying to diagnose her child, just saying that pseudo science patches aren't what helped that boy to reach his milestones. I'd like to hear what she is doing to accommodate her son's needs so he would thrive as an autistic child. Because all I heard was her wanting him to be "like all the children", meaning, "fix" him to fit into a neurotypical frame. Needless to say, it's all bs and just adds to autism stigma, which disadvantages autistic people.
I have two kids on the spectrum and they are awesome and I wouldn't change them for anything! Yes they have behavioral issues, but they also each have their own super power! For example my 4 year old his hyperlexia, he could read at 3 years old, he is now 4 and reads on a third grade level!
I'm autistic. I personally prefer to identify as an autistic person, rather than person-first language, which would be person with autism. That being said, it's one of those things that can be different from person to person in the community. Selling snake oil to parents that are struggling makes me even angrier than ABA, which is saying a lot, as someone who works in mental health.
@@ErinBies my son is autistic. That mum. My God help her son. Just the brainwashing. It's so upsetting and scary. And how dare they prey on this condition.
Ok, well, I am in Australia and this patch business is super weird. I've never heard of it. Dodgy AF. Also, my autistic son doesn't need to be 'cured', he isn't defective in any way. He is nearly 13 and a second dan black belt in taekwondo, so I dare these people to come and say this crap to his face...
This is infuriating! I'm autistic and do not think I have ever heard "autistics" before. In Swedish at least, you can say you are "autist", i.e. that you have autism. But idk if it is the same in English
"We've tried everything!" Except, like, accommodating your kid's needs instead of trying to "cure" them?
Exactly what I was thinking. Spend time with your child, not waste money looking everywhere else.

Thank you for this.
I am a person who has autism. For me, I wish to have my personhood acknowledged. I'm a person with something, I am NOT the thing. But personal preference is personal 😊
Thank you!
"Prayed about it" - so if your patch does not work, you did not pray enough, you were not pious enough. Ugh, true evil
This.
As an autistic person myself, I feel sorry for her son. Her son is most likely high masking.
Edit: Also what in the Jurassic Park 💩 is this?
Mmm hmmmm
I'm autistic, and usually I find the person first etc debate a waste of time, we've got bigger issues that we need to sort about society before we get to that. In saying all that, I've discovered a new ick, autistics. Ew, that's all I can say 😂
Thank you!
Their poor child. Am I the only one who thinks they are abusing their child, don't accept their child and now are profiting off of their child selling pseudoscience 🐂💩?
That was a very hard watch.
😡🤬😡
They are all gross! I'm enraged.
This was for sure a hard one to film.
Idk about abuse (I don't think we have enough info to know either way), but they certainly don't seem to accept the kid as they are at all. It's also so sad that they're using their child to sell this bull. I agree.
@@ErinBies , I am glad you shared. It's upsetting but people need to be aware.
Why does she feel like she has to “fix” her child? Sad…😢
It’s awful!
Thank you
As a neurodivergent person, I wish people could just accept their child as they are.
Thank you for this.
ASD level 1 is my diagnosis.
Most of the community says autistic people (identity first) or autist(s) (noun)
Thank you!
As an Autistic, parents that try every snake oil under the sun to cure their kid's Autism strike me as the type of people who don't believe that they need their kid's consent.
You have a point there for sure.
Oof, that's such a pointed and accurate observation.
Thank you for this!
Thank you!
This isn’t a parody? For sure it isn’t? Their child already hates them. I feel very sure.
What happens when colonialism /paternalism becomes a living entity and has a child.
Unfortunately it’s not a parody.
🎯🎯🎯
That was gross
Indeed.
Okay, the way that advert just popped up 🤦🏼♀️ very Scientology.
😬😬😬
OMG NOOOOOOOO
Mmm hmmm
Even if that patch could "activate" stem cells, it wouldn't affect autism because it's genetic. It runs in families. (That woman strikes me as being on the spectrum herself.) You can't change a person's basic DNA. While some autistic people have severe symptoms and could use things to improve their quality of life, curing it is neither possible nor advisable for most people.
This! The science they claim makes NO sense.
This is absolutely nuts! These wellness MLMers are constantly stomping in new lows. Their barrel is bottomless.
Agreed.
Lobsters are magic and spiritual
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Your thumbnail got me. I read the title and made the same face you’re making! 😂😂 what are these charlatans up to now?!?
It’s so bad.
I heard a podcast about stem cell injections and in these cases where you go to these clinics, especially out of the country is a scam. It doesn’t really do anything and the risk of infection from these injections is really high. Go see your doctor if you think stem cells are something you want to try.
Thank you for this.
Atrocious and sadly a very common type of video in their facebook groups!
Agreed.
I think the same word can be used bad or good.
A person say I’m autistic or I have an autistic child could be super affirming. Some lady yelling auuuuutistiiiiics at us at 100 db sounds gross.
Thank you!
One more thing! I've had people tell me it's infrared light therapy, ummm I do infrared a few times a week under the red bulbs ... that patch is not a light bulb in any form.
Agreed.
I'm neurodivergent and hence around a lot of autie people. "Ausitics" feels like a slur whereas you can say "autie" or "on the spectrum". This while video gave me the ick and this is why a lot of people on the spectrum have trauma. Stop "white knighting" autistic people. Just stop.
Thank you!
@@Chewy_and_rascal thank you for clarifying. I am sorry that I didn’t know and offended you. I will correct myself moving forward.
Same.
Ew. I can’t even make words.
Relatable.
3:43 She said that she was lowblowing it… pretty sure she meant to say lowballing it. Freudian slip?! 👀
Oh my!
Thank you!
Lifewave makes tons of medical claims non stop.
It’s awful.

I completely understand, and thank you for sharing your perspective!
I don't know if I can watch this 😢
It was hard to film. I get it.
@@ErinBies my son is autistic. That mum. My God help her son. Just the brainwashing. It's so upsetting and scary. And how dare they prey on this condition.
The animation is an SNL sketch!!!!
🥴🥴🥴
Ok, well, I am in Australia and this patch business is super weird. I've never heard of it. Dodgy AF. Also, my autistic son doesn't need to be 'cured', he isn't defective in any way. He is nearly 13 and a second dan black belt in taekwondo, so I dare these people to come and say this crap to his face...
🫶🏻🫶🏻
This is infuriating! I'm autistic and do not think I have ever heard "autistics" before. In Swedish at least, you can say you are "autist", i.e. that you have autism. But idk if it is the same in English
Thank you for this!
Recommend Julie Anderson's videos about Lifewave
She's amazing.
But autism spectrum disorder is different than autism
