The guy/father on a bicycle with the small daughter/girl at 6:38 is a wonderful moment in time. The best in the video in my opinion. They are so beautiful and lovely.♥♥♥
Not really my friend. There are several African countries along to Equator line. Very greener than Uganda. Gabon, Demonstratic Republic of Congo, The Republic of Congo, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Sao Tome & Principe, Cameroon, Burundi, Rwanda just to name a few. Just google them and good luck my friend to learn more about the Geography of the second largest continent in the whole world.
You do not know what you are writing. Countries like Cameroon are becoming deserts, especially in northern Cameron. Some countries you have mentioned have only forest Cover, and that becomes a Hinderance.
I love that you bring out the best in people around you, always smiling. Your videos are delightful to watch. I'm from South Africa btw and work for L'Oreal, the French company. Looking forward to you reaching Cape town. Love your channel so much 🌼. Safe travels
Keep on biking ! Thumbs up on all your videos . Love that you not only take us with you on your tour but also introduce us to diverse cultures and the people you meet ! -Loyal Fan
You are doing so real world testing for AZUB. It’s good they are taking care of you. Thanks for the content once again! Always love these little escapes.
The plants are known as Papyrus reeds as used in Egypt for making writing material and used to weave baskets and other reed crafts. They grow along the Nile rivers all the way from Uganda to Egypt.
Love the content. This is one of my favorite channels on RUclips. The only wrinkle I wish you would add is a bit of the city’s nightlife. Given the amount of time you spent in Kampala, and its reputation for being the party capital of East Africa (though, I’m sure Nairobi would beg to differ), it would have been great to see what some of the bars look like at night. I hope you consider adding a taste of the nightlife in your future endeavors around the continent. Safe travels!
I can tell you are an introvert. Because you value serenity and silence. But you do such a great job at accomodating everyone and making people feel important. Its not easy but you make it seem so. ❤
Noticed that too.... Ugandans can tell when you're having a good time. Quite a rare thing for most people to notice these days and mostly confused with showing off... hehehehe
The fish at the end looks great. I love your videos, Yves - I've watched nearly all of them. I'm definitely going to cycle tour around the world, thanks to you for showing that it's possible.
Ah you always put me in a good mood! That 26 December lunch looks amazing as does the hotel compound. Great to hear the bike is now fully functional. There is something about being on the road, a special adrenaline!
Yes, getting on the road is always something very special... facing the unknown... everything should be fine, but many unpredictable things will probably happen on the road. The uncertainty, the discovery, it's such a great feeling
Wish I would’ve started watching when you started, been following since Egypt! Love watching your old videos though. Think I’ve gone thru them all now.
#Kino yves. Those a papyrus reeds /swamps all over Uganda. Those reeds are dried and used for making mats..They are also good for environmental protection of the swampy areas.. Watching and following from Kampala Uganda East Africa
Yves your very generous and good-hearted person, you know very well those guys are overcharging you but you still tip them after buying, God bless you, like your content from Kenya
Crazy how little things recall a lot of memories. The region you were in in Uganda looks very alike as Rwanda. And there is very few seconds where I could hear Phil Collins playing at the restaurant at the resort in Mityiana. The all took me back in days in Rwanda (Phil Collins was very popular there)
Lovely reminder for me of a 2016 trip Kampala - Fort Portal (via Mubende) and the superb Crater Lakes at the Mountains of the Moon. I stayed in a Catholic lodge in Fort Portal where the nuns were giggly and fun, but the mosquitos were too much so transferred to a hotel run by a British man Tony Duckworth whose wife was a local tribal high-up.
Looking for accommodation I tried one place a few km from Fort Portal, a beautiful big lodge. The room I was shown had an unforgettable sight - a bedside table with 8 condoms laid out on it in a neat pattern. It did make me laugh, imagine being the man who goes to reception to say 'excuse me do you have more condoms, I have run out'. 😂
A bit of info re how Ugandans speak English: Vowels are different. 'Buried' rhymes with 'curried' and 'hurried' but never with 'ferried'. 'Goat' rhymes with 'hot' not 'coat'. 'Hope' sounds like 'hop'. 'Coke' is pronounced 'cock'. I amuse myself by asking people 'do you like cock?" in other words 'would you like a Coke'. 'Soap' of course is 'sop'. The i in both 'chicken' and 'middle' is elongated to an 'ee' sound. 'Liver' sounds like 'lever'. The word 'go' is deep toned, down in the throat - 'goh'. Far is 'fah', a short sound. Another shortened vowel is 'or' as in 'Fort Portal' which is pronounced 'Fot Pottle'.
Hallo the plants you're talking about which grow mostly on the road side those kind of plants grow in swampy areas. And they are used to make mats n baskets. You should try those roasted plantains they are real nice. I ve been following you since you were in sudane, I live in Nairobi but fort portal is my home town.
Those vegetation are called Papyrus reeds, grow in swampy places, in Kenya they are used to build house roofs instead of grass thatch roofs, they make carpets also
Thank you for all the videos i have seen so far Mr Yves 😃 I have seen your videos from the start of Ethiopia 😃 I was in Nakuru visit my girlfriend from October 27 until November 6. When did you visit Nakuru ? I love the way you show Africa to people and you are a very pleasant person 🙏
I would say you should ride the Oregon Coast some times, but after watching all your videos, cycle touring in the USA would be boring to you! Plus The coast highway here, 101, is very stressful to ride on during the summer. We get people cycling from Argentina to South America thru our bicycle shop a few times a year. I help about a few hundred cycle tourists every summer since the oregon coast route is popular, even with all the car traffic. There’s a state park every 50 miles that has hiker biker spots that only charge 8 bucks, and you get a free shower. Oregon State parks are some of the best in the USA.
The guy riding a bicycle with a girl is a legend ❤

Kino even has the Ugandan flag ......we love you ❤!

For sure uganda is the pearl of Africa. When people are obsessed with m7 don't blame them Ugandans have peace
The plants are called Papyrus reeds and grow mostly in swampy areas or next to water.
They used to use papyrus to make paper, which is where the word paper comes from

"You are enjoying life" seems to be a popular slogan in Kampala.
Very true.

Must be a big thing to be a twin father
If you think Ug is hilly, wait for Rwanda.
The area you believe to be friendlier is one tribe. The other side is a melting pot.
The plants are called papyrus.Usually grow in swamps/lowlands...
Thank you
All in all i just love the way you go about food, you're very free to any kind of delicacy and always enjoying the different dishes.

At @10:58 seems like they are celebrating a sale on a tough day it being a public holiday. The meat would cost just about as much.

That plant is Papyrus, it largely grows in Swamps and Lake shores, Less in wetlands.
Is it the Cyperus papyrus?

Very nice video thanks for sharing
Those are cyperus papyrus tree, found in swamps and rivers all over Uganda!,central region of Uganda people are so friendly.
I like that you pick a route with less traffic
Actually his choice of the Suam border crossing enlightened me regarding a less congested areas where one doesn't have to struggle with those trucks.
I like that you put a map on screen, and that hotel seems to be one of the nicer places you've stayed. The food looked really good.
your an absolute legend mate
You changed so much since arriving in Africa, you became an Azub ambasador, and probably the worlds fastest person at peeing :D

The plant in question is papyrus, that’s what the Egyptians used to write on. It grows in swampy areas.
Yves you would have enjoyed the roasted plantain or gonja.
Those plants/total grass are papyrus. They grow primarily in marshes and wetlands throughout Africa!
