I am a Puerto Rican immigrant whom, when privileged took a course in American Intellectual History, where I was introduced to, and impacted by Niebuhr. For a long time wondered why his name seemed to be lost in History. I was delighted to see of this initiative, and a media effort to bring his legacy forth. Today I am in sheer poverty, in San Francisco, but have faith that, maybe someday I might be able to share in a truly human setting again, because I know, thanks to this Faith, that I am not spiritually poor.

Thanks for making the point that saying that young people only have a seven second attention span is insulting. I was always insulted by similar statements. We can do better than that!

Really? I'm rather young and I would agree with the statement.

None of us want to admit of our own shortcomings both young and old. I don't think this is a problem relegated to only young people. It is a modern problem that began with the decline of reading books with the advent of television and now social media has exacerbated the problem creating a population of illiterate people both young and old. It is impossible to become a well educated intelligent person without reading books especially history and classical literature otherwise we will never understand where we came from and who we are as a people.

Take us back to the 1950s; hell the majority party here in State of Michigan legislator are working to take our great State back to the 18th century. Michigan is a great place for business, but it's like a third world to everyone else. Skills, Talent, Trades gap is because no one want to live in a State with substandard roads, schools, health care services, Infrastructure, Crime & Corrections

Was there an average American in the room? I don’t think so. Academic spirituality and religion has precisely “0” to offer in times like today. No wonder Niebuhr isn’t known today. He has very little to offer.
