I’ve only watched afew minutes of this video, however I’m so glad that you spoke about the price of yarn. I’ve made numerous babies blankets for friends and family. People don’t take into account the price of the yarn & the amount of time this beautiful handmade blanket took to create. Very rarely have I noticed lately any appreciation for our skill. My hands are not what they use to be nor is the price of yarn. Now I am very selective as to whom I will crochet anything for. I’d rather purchase a gift card , and save my hands for someone that will truly appreciate what I have made for them or their family. Has anyone else noticed this?
Yes!!!! Absolutely. I only make things for people that want to pay me for my skills, or who is a huge appreciator of the needle arts and other realms of art it’s self. I made and sewn quilts for family members and I have never seen any of them used. I always thought that they either did not like the quilts and just thrown them out or gave them away. It hurts tremendously when an artist makes something for someone and then they either don’t appreciate it and did not like it. All in all, I am in complete agreement about only making things for others that we know will appreciate our needle arts work and other modes of artwork.
I guess it depends on the person but my little sister loved the blanket that was made for her daughter. We always use nice colors and try to match the nursery colors. We also use nice patterns. I also get that some people aren’t appreciative of yarn made blankets
I’m 52 and an item on my bucket list was to take up a fiber Art. I am on my 5th project, I took up knitting and crocheting. Your channel has been very helpful and entertaining. Thank you to you and Cody!
I really like yout video when you and Cody are on you did great to get that much for 100 can't wait to see the rainbow Afghan makes me want to go get it stuff and make one have fun
I just bought a ton of loops and threads soft classic. Variety of colors. I’m working on a granny square blanket. My skills aren’t great and I can’t seem to get nice edges in a regular blanket. I’ve tried a lot of things. I’m getting better but that’s an investment for poor edges yet. I love the loops and threads impeccable yarn. I’ve used it a lot on my knitting machines. It feels good and has beautiful colors. Next time you have a challenge go where the sales are. Where I live I always check Michaels, Joann’s and hobby lobby apps before I go shop. I often have limited budgets. Also if you put yarn in your cart online then close out within a day or two you’ll get an email saying look what you forgot with an additional percentage off coupon. I’m sure with your experience you know all of that. I’ve only been at yarn arts for about 4 years max. A year of that I used my circular knitting machines. Addi’s and Sentros. I have 6. Then I learned to crochet and rarely use them. They just sit in my craft room. I love your videos. Do you have any on help with straight edges? I’ve tried stitch markers for counting and stacked SC to turn. I never like how they look. It might just be my tension. I’m not sure. I do a lot of granny squares or small home decor or accessory patterns that don’t require straight edges. Even small dishcloths to me look wonky. I’m having fun though and love crochet. I’m definitely “hooked!” Keep the videos coming. I love seeing Cody too!
Glenda, you and Cody, make me want to go to the yarn store and purchase more yarn 🤗. Thank you both for a wonderful video. Hope you get your eyes fixed soon
You mentioned other crochet channels showing their blankets and trying to find something different for you to show. Please keep in mind you are very good at teaching and easy to follow. Where some of the other channels are not. I always look at yours first when starting a new project. So even if everyone else has done a certain stitch or blanket, a lot of us would like to see you explain it. 🥰 Also, do you prefer one store over the other for yarn shopping? Keep the tutorials coming! 🤗🤗🤗❤
Dear Glenda, I agree with you if it’s not machine wash & dry then forget it! Where exactly are we suppose to lay flat a large afghan to dry??? Even if I wanted too…😂 Also as a huge fan of your tutorials I just wanted to let you know that I’m glad you do tutorials even if it’s a stitch or pattern that someone else has already done because you are a great teacher & some are not. Thank you for all your wonderful tutorials, my favorites are your unique & floral dishcloths❣️ Blessings to all 🙋🏻♀️🦋💜
Glenda and Cody you go. I do agree the prices are crazy anymore. Loops and threads is my go to brand. It’s soft and colorful plus you can get coupons for them. You go granny!!!
I love that you pointed out there those are two different things, the most yarn vs what you actually will use. In today's economy that is something that really needs to be considered, even if it is on sale.
😲I can't believe you didn't use up the $100! LOL I would have used up the rest with Loops & Threads 100% cottons if they had any, or more of the soft classic. I love that yarn. 😊
Love your shopping sprees! Your tutorials are so clear and easy to follow. Love how you and Cody interact on the videos. I also teach and recommend your videos to my students.
👋 Glenda and Corey! What a great idea! The increasing prices of yarn is making it more difficult. I bought a couple Caron cakes on clearance and then matched them up with Loops-n-Threads for blankets for Christmas gifts. Joann Big Twist Value also good deals IF the coupons work. I have better luck in-store with them these days. ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 💚
I always find when you got some money there is never enough of the colour you want when you go to the store to buy it. Best to buy online for me. You did great though. The rainbow colours are just wonderful.
Cody is a gem and I so enjoy his sense of humor! Wish they had been having a sale. I’ve always received a 10% discount..early years teacher discount…now a senior discount.
The loops and threads was a good value. Can’t wait to see how that washes and dries. I’ve never used it but a lot of people do and seem to like it. I liked the Caron cotton cakes. I’d like to try it some day. ❤
I have some of those cotton cakes, I have so many ideas, but just haven't found "the" perfect one. Everything else that you have in there, I haven't tried before and I can't wait to see that rainbow blanket!
I fell in love with the cotton cake in the same color you picked. I knit a raglan tee with it and it looks beautiful but it leaves a white fuzz all over when I wear it. I have washed it and put it in the dryer. I want to try more cotton yarns to make shirts or baby blankets. The I Love This Cotton has held up pretty good. I made a scarf with it and it is super soft. I want to knit a shirt with it too. Thanks for letting us go on your shopping spree with you. Rachel S.
I enjoyed watching you and Cody shopping together. I just wanted to say that the yarns you picked out for your "rainbow" reminded me of a roll of lifesavers candy.
I was screaming for Cody to make an Amigurumi teddy bear with those Caron cakes!!!! The brown colors would be so adorable showing up in a big bear. SHOOT. Go back Cody and get them
What a nice grandson. He should have a chat with my granddaughters about how much fun it is to give Grandma a shopping spree :) You picked some really pretty, and practical yarn. All set for hours for crochet fun. So funny...my Michaels is hundreds of miles from yours but I have the same problem. I find a yarn I get so excited about but....there will be only 3 skeins.
I'm working on a happily stained crochet blanket using mandala ombre yarn in Happy and black. The black really makes the colors pop. Can't wait to see how your rainbow afghan looks.
Love you and Cody working on this together! I hope you visit the fairs again this year to look at finished projects! So fun to see! I also would love videos on attaching satin binding around a crochet baby blanket or fabric to the back of a crochet blanket. Maybe these are silly ideas but I'm thinking how much babies like that satin edging on blankets! I know I have seen a blanket finished that way but would love a step by step! Keep up the good work! You guys are fun to watch!
Hi Glenda. It really doesn't matter how many bucket hat or ripple patterns there are, we as crocheters have our favorites. I do plenty of your Stitch of the Week. BOD is another constant in my WIPs. I only buy on SALE!!! Loops & threads is very nice and the cotton cakes.
Hi Glenda and Cody. I've used all of those yarns you've purchased. I use the Loops and threads soft classic for my dolls. I use the cotton cakes for market bags. I've used the other loops and thread color way you purchased for a baby blanket. I like their yarn. Decent price. I go when they have sales as well. This was fun. My turn Cody!! 😂 I'll go when they have a sale too. 😂 ❤ Take care
I haven’t seen Loops & Threads in Australia yet. I have seen a few people make projects with this yarn. I love Carron yarn ❤ Nice effort for $100. So hard to choose.
I REALLY enjoyed this video !!! ❤❤..I always go for the caron cakes , u get lots of yardage for the money ...I'm.making a baby blanket right now with the caron skinny cakes
Love the yards you took . The one I like is the cakes the one were on special . We don’t have big sales like that at Walmart we’re I live . I livi Canada Québec
I like your yarn selections. Very pretty and you got a lot of yarn for your buck. I don't have a hobby lobby or Michaels close to me so I have not tried the pod cakes.
Hey Glenda I just started crocheting again but I ran into your mom and sister when I had to lab work back in April when I was working on my baby first baby blanket. I live in the Jersey shore area
Great challenge! Your Michael's has a larger selection than the one in my town. Even my Hobby Lobby has shrunk down to an aisle and a half with end caps. Seems like before long we'll be purchasing everything on line which will be a bummer!
No tax on yarn in PA which is where I live too, as long as it’s for a garment that is worn. Tell them at the check out. Although Walmart charges tax because it’s not their system.. so I’m told. From another grandmother. 😊 hope this helps.
Thanks Cody for the shopping spree🎉! Glenda, great job picking out the yarns you know you’re going to use 😊! I’ve never used the loops and threads yarns, so I’m curious about how they’ll work up😊. I’ve not been to a Michael’s in a long time(it’s 40mins away from me)! Thanks for sharing your shopping trip! Take care 🙏🏻🤗💕!
I wish I lived in the us so I could shop att joanns mickels and so on. So much yarn to choose from. In the regulare store in sweden we almost never find yarn. Lycky you!!
I love the texture of some of the plush and fuzzy type yarns you were looking at but, for some reason, I just can't work with them. They don't glide across my hand and/or hook like they should. And frogging is very challenging.
At least your Michaels has 1 and a half aisles of yarn plus some clearance bins. I went into mine last week and it was just completely sad. 😔 I literally walked out. They had nothing. Had only barely one aisle of yarn and not one bin of clearance yarn. And what yarn they did have was not great. 😢 It just really made me sad and mad at same time. You know you don’t have to get yarn only to make blankets with.. like those cotton cakes you got.. or others you could make a great summer top or something like that too.😜 Cody giving you his grandma $100 to shop for yarn is just the sweetest thing ever! Maybe you should’ve made the challenge for either Joanne’s or hobby lobby. 😜 💜🥰💜
$100 - to buy a yarn I like AND I will use - I lose!! i agree with Glenda. I like to touch the yarn to know how soft it is. Then I can buy more online if there is a good sale. For those who qualify, don't forget your senior discount.

Cody is an awesome grandson!! You both have a great day together. Beautiful color choices Glenda. 💜🤗
What a great grandson. I think you got some great yarn. Have a great day.

That was fun, I really enjoy seeing you with Cody shopping as well as you and your sister checking out thift store finds relating to crochet.
I love them all I want to see the multi colored rainbow with the white in between !! Yall are amazing

That sure was fun! It was really nice of Cody to give you the money to shop for yarn.🥰
I love all yarn 🙂
Glenda and Cody you go. I do agree the prices are crazy anymore. Loops and threads is my go to brand. It’s soft and colorful plus you can get coupons for them. You go granny!!!
What a fun shopping trip! Cody, you are an awesome grandson! Good job in choosing yarn Glenda! I loved the $7 Caron Cotton Cakes!!!!
I love that yarn!
Hello Glenda and Cody 🥰🥰❤❤🌻🌻! I just love seeing You two together & Thanks so much for taking us along with Y'all 🥰🥰❤❤🌻🌻!
I think you made really good choices. I love the idea of using all those beautiful colors. You definitely will not get bored.
Glenda, please buy that Yarn Carrier that you saw the other day for yourself! ❤
Cody you’re the best! I love the Caron cakes
I love that you pointed out there those are two different things, the most yarn vs what you actually will use. In today's economy that is something that really needs to be considered, even if it is on sale.

Boy I wish I had a son who felt like spending yarn money on Mom!
Cody is a gem and I so enjoy his sense of humor! Wish they had been having a sale. I’ve always received a 10% discount..early years teacher discount…now a senior discount.
Loops and threads impeccable washes really nicely
I always like to touch yarn, as similar content can have a different twist/durability/drapey even differing in same line with different colors.
Your Michael's has way more yarn than mine. I do love the way they organize their yarn.
The loops and threads was a good value. Can’t wait to see how that washes and dries. I’ve never used it but a lot of people do and seem to like it. I liked the Caron cotton cakes. I’d like to try it some day. ❤
Love the crying kids in the background omg
I have some of those cotton cakes, I have so many ideas, but just haven't found "the" perfect one. Everything else that you have in there, I haven't tried before and I can't wait to see that rainbow blanket!
Wow that Michaels is pretty stocked. Mine has been slacking.
Well done Glenda & enjoyed the your process you went through (much like mine) & thank you Cody
Love Cody how sweet he’s such a good young man
I fell in love with the cotton cake in the same color you picked. I knit a raglan tee with it and it looks beautiful but it leaves a white fuzz all over when I wear it. I like cotton cakes. I bought that color a couple years ago so hopefully it's around for a while.
Love the cotton yarn!
Yes true, 12.98 for one yarn is above my budget
Love this challenge & love everything you got Glenda❤️
I can not wait to see the rainbow blanket.
I enjoy your videos. Thank you. 😊
Love the bright colors in solid colors.
I enjoyed watching you and Cody shopping together. I just wanted to say that the yarns you picked out for your "rainbow" reminded me of a roll of lifesavers candy.
Great choices you made :)
Good job! I love Caron Cotton Cakes!
I think you did great love the colors you picked
Thank you for taking me shopping with you. I have trouble standing for long periods of time so I like shopping with you and Cody.
Not into rainbow yarns but I do like the Caron Cotton Cakes and that colorway was pretty.
I was screaming for Cody to make an Amigurumi teddy bear with those Caron cakes!!!! The brown colors would be so adorable showing up in a big bear. SHOOT. Go back Cody and get them

One of my favourite yarns to use is Loops & Threads Soft Classic.
I’ve made so many great blankets at a reasonable cost. 😊
Really liked watching this video. Cody’s challenge made yarn buying very interesting. I thought you were very wise in your choices of yarn.🥰
Fun challenge. I’m a touchy-feely person when it comes to yarn softness.
A couple of months ago I received a $250 gift card to JoAnne & trust me I had a blast!!!
HI GLENDA & CODY. SUCH BEAUTIFUL COLORS YOU PICKED OUT. THANK YOU FOR SHARING 💞☺️💓
Hi Glenda. It really doesn't matter how many bucket hat or ripple patterns there are, we as crocheters have our favorites. I do plenty of your Stitch of the Week. BOD is another constant in my WIPs.
I only buy on SALE!!! Loops & threads is very nice and the cotton cakes.
How Fun!! I am making a cotton tank top out of the cotton you picked up.❤it. I also have enjoyed working Loops and Threads (great price).
My first time shopping with you. Really enjoyed your insight into the types, colors and possible uses for the weights. !!
Lucky you to have a Micheal’s to be able to shop at. Not one in my area. Can’t wait to see your rainbow 🌈 blanket
I like the Cotton Cakes you got at the end Glenda, to me they were the prettiest. You did get a lot of yarn for the money!.
What a great video.
Thanks so much for doing this.
Great yarn comparisons.
Fun with Cody. Love his input.
I like the yarns you chose. I love the rainbow colors. I can’t wait to see what pattern you use for them. The cotton cakes are pretty too. 🧶💜🙏🏻
What a wonderful grandson! Beautiful yarn.
I practically zone out when I go to a yarn store like the one you are at. I can't make a decision when there are so many awesome options.
I haven’t seen Loops & Threads in Australia yet. I have seen a few people make projects with this yarn. I love Carron yarn ❤ Nice effort for $100. So hard to choose.
How fun!! Beautiful yarn!! Show us what you make with it please
I think Cody was hopin you'd buy the brown and make him a throw or something 🎉
And make just one more , I think you very much😊
I REALLY enjoyed this video !!! ❤❤..I always go for the caron cakes , u get lots of yardage for the money ...I'm.making a baby blanket right now with the caron skinny cakes
Thanks for inspiring me in this fun video.
Love the yards you took . The one I like is the cakes the one were on special . We don’t have big sales like that at Walmart we’re I live . I livi Canada Québec
That pink and blue would of been a good combination
I loved your video. This was a fun video. It's not as easy to shop for yarn.
I like your yarn selections. Very pretty and you got a lot of yarn for your buck. I don't have a hobby lobby or Michaels close to me so I have not tried the pod cakes.

What fun!!
Fun ❤.
I agree. You want to touch the yarn before you buy, especially if it's one you've never used before.
YOU SHOULD HAVE SHOPPED AT HOBBY LOBBY 30% OFF THIS WEEK! I ALSO PURCHASED THE BABY RAINBOW YARN AND LOVED IT. CANT WAIT TO SEE YOUR VIDEO!
I love to touch the yarn too! I saw a few Caron cakes I need to finish a project here, but the Michaels here is out (sigh)!
My favorite are the 10.5 oz cakes🎉🎉
I wish I lived in the us so I could shop att joanns mickels and so on. So much yarn to choose from. In the regulare store in sweden we almost never find yarn. Lycky you!!
What about ordering yarn online? Or is shipping is TOO expensive?
I love the texture of some of the plush and fuzzy type yarns you were looking at but, for some reason, I just can't work with them. They don't glide across my hand and/or hook like they should. And frogging is very challenging.
At least your Michaels has 1 and a half aisles of yarn plus some clearance bins. I went into mine last week and it was just completely sad. 😔 I literally walked out. They had nothing. Had only barely one aisle of yarn and not one bin of clearance yarn. And what yarn they did have was not great. 😢
It just really made me sad and mad at same time.
You know you don’t have to get yarn only to make blankets with.. like those cotton cakes you got.. or others you could make a great summer top or something like that too.😜
Cody giving you his grandma $100 to shop for yarn is just the sweetest thing ever!
Maybe you should’ve made the challenge for either Joanne’s or hobby lobby. 😜
💜🥰💜
Good job❤
I have found what I use. If they have variegated. I get all and then a solid color. Just depends how many and depends on how many rows of each color.
Ask for your senior discount! And get in on their rewards club will send you vouchers based on what you buy for free yarn!
$100 - to buy a yarn I like AND I will use - I lose!! i agree with Glenda. I like to touch the yarn to know how soft it is. Then I can buy more online if there is a good sale. For those who qualify, don't forget your senior discount.
thanks 🙏 ❤❤💙
Cody is a cool grandson! What a tight bond you two have! How old is he?? I won't ask your age Glenda...cuz I love you too.
I remember 10 cents an ounce, on a cardboard scone. If it was the end of his skein I could get the whole thing without charging me for the extra yarn. THOSE WERE THE DAYS MY FRIEND!!!
