    I have had used MX as my default goto for many years, before I moved to vanilla Debian XFCE. It is a good customised experience to begin with, once I was comfortable with the general grammar of debian I outgrew its USP and vanilla XFCE without any additional customisation with basic new Adwaita theme turned out to suit me better. But I appreciate all the little tools they made which handheld me through various tasks I needed to learn, and putting effort in noobifying debian so that it doesn't overwhelm at the first instance.

    I just upgraded my old installation of MX Linux (MX 21) to this new MX Linux 23 (Libretto) but using KDE Plasma instead of Xfce. I did a full backup of my system before the upgrade and now I'm typing this comment with my new MX Linux 23 System. 😁
    Some things I've noticed:
    1. For some reason my default installation of MX Linux 23 defaulted to using systemd instead of SysVnit.
    2. I'm unable to do "Add to Desktop" feature of Bottles (Flatpak version). Before it will automatically add my bottled app to the Application Menu Launcher under 'Lost & Found' but this is now missing. "Add to Desktop" does nothing when executed.
    3. Veracrypt gives the "An assertion failed!" popup error when launched. It's nothing serious but very annoying.
    So far only these 3 bugs I've encountered on my new installation. Everything else seems to be working fine. Overall, I like MX Linux 23. I just hope all these annoying little bugs get ironed out on the next updates.

      Hello, just some thoughts ...Sometimes a Fresh install is best , considering you may have some old programs that could interfere with some things. I would suggest a Bug be filed with the MX Team, so they can maybe address for the future. I'm not part of the MX Developers Team , but I think they might be interested in your comments & observations. Best of Luck, Regards, t

    Installed Linux on a Dell OptiPlex 755 then a Radeon R5 240 GPU - After MX splash screen just a blinking cursor & no desktop.
    Linux OS is getting better, but still has issues - 10 years ago it was still Windows only.

      Not sure what happened on your install, maybe duel boot ? If So Secure boot option or UEFI mode . I will assume when you booted MX in Live mode, and things worked if not as a last step maybe reinstall . Best of luck, t

    Users may find the MX 23 installation media does not run properly from Flash drives. The problem is with MX 21's USB Startup disk creator tool. The ISO file I downloaded shortly after the official release of MX 23 did not run from flash drives. It only ran when written to a DVD and run from there. DVD installations are very slow, but they do work. I found the ISO worked properly when written to a flash drive by Balena-Etcher.

      There are many ways to burn ISO's on USB sticks , and other media... I used a USB Image Writer in Mint without issue, there are other tools out there as an example . As a Side note, your experience & information might be helpful to the MX Team on their site, I'm not connected with the Developers of MX. Best Regards , t

    Would you be so kind to explain how to verify checksums and signatures for MX linux in Windows and in MX linux?

    • @linuxforseniors
      @linuxforseniors  10 месяцев назад

      You should be able to find that information on the Linux Web site for the distributions you are downloading , some distributions could have different ways to preform the verify, but each distro should explain how. Regards, t

    Is there problem regarding consumption of battery ???

    • @linuxforseniors
      @linuxforseniors  6 месяцев назад

      Not sure what the question battery consumption is about , maybe you are asking a hardware question on support . Since I do not work on the development Team at MX Linux...here is a link to MX support information. Best of Luck, t

      Not sure I get your meaning, if you mean the Xfce as a desktop, then yes it should work on both old and new computers.
      Many distribution(s) do offer Xfce with different bells & whistles, so having those types of options makes one distro appealing to some, while other like a different spin if you get my drift .

    Is there difference between Fluxbox, KDE and Xfce except the look? Because I install the Fluxbox version but got few problems - no function brightness keys on the laptop, no language switching indicator, no battery indicator, and the worst - when I attach double monitor the whole desktop environment was falling apart - the taskbar end up in the middle of the screen, and the application for set up the double monitors was archaic (Arand or something like that, forgot the name. I have to manually set the displays every time). Also the system just freezes on wake after "suspend" (but turn out the fix is to turn off the boot splash screen)
    Overall not very good experience, I install Mint and EVERYTHING from above got fixed. (except the freeze problem but the fix was the same)...
    that said Mint is heavier...

      Well you kind of answered this , Fluxbox vs KDE vs Xfce are desktops with very different controls or options if you prefer.
      The Fluxbox & Xfce are a light weigh desktops vs KDE Plasma not so much as an example. Thus you will get a very different experience on these Desktops. Regards, t

    Hi! I'm new to Linux. I don't have a very good configuration:
    - CPU: i5 4460 3.2 GHz
    - GPU: GTX 750 Ti 2 Gb Vram
    - RAM: 8 Gb DDR3
    Which distro is better for me especially since I only play Overwatch 2 on this configuration: MX Linux or Linux Mint Cinnamon? Which is better for gaming?

      Hello, my gaming is very limited on Linux, both distributions you mentioned are suited for many applications. Regards, t
