Max Caulfield, photographer-in-residence at the prestigious Caledon University, discovers her closest new friend, Safi, dead in the snow. Murdered. To save her, Max tries to Rewind time - a power she’s not used in years… instead Max opens the way to a parallel timeline where Safi is still alive, and still in danger! Max realizes the killer will soon strike again - in both versions of reality.
Only Max can Shift between the two parallel timelines to solve and prevent the same murder.

Respecting the Bae ending' and what that should look like
So, in the stream they emphasized like three separate times that they really want to respect or honor both potential endings for Life is Strange, knowing how meaningful this choice was to the players. And I am honestly glad that they do, because the one potential dealbreaker that might have made me give this game a hard pass would have been to force me to play a Max who sacrificed Chloe.
However, there is a difference between respecting the letter of the law and respecting the spirit of it. To me, and I'm sure to many people, the decision to sacrifice the Bay is not just about technically keeping Chloe alive; it is an expression of love (romantically or not, up to you!), of dedication, of a bond that goes so incredibly deep not even the universe could tear it apart. It is also, in my case; to defy the world and dare to hope that no matter how the universe tries to break you, you can face the storm hand in hand and come out the other side, we were given a *choice*. We were told that we got to decide whether Max and Chloe would make it through - at a monumental cost - and have a chance at a future together. This is the whole premise of the series; to be a choice-rich narrative where the player is promised the ability to shape where the story goes. If we tried hard enough, both us and Max, over and over again, we could eventually save Chloe and bring her into the future with us, rather than have her story end bleakly and cruelly on a bathroom floor.
So, what happens when a new game comes out, and we're essentially told that *neither* ending actually lets us have a future for Max and Chloe? That no matter what we choose or what we sacrifice, that storyline has no hope? Technically, they would be living up to the letter of the promise - after all, Chloe does live. But in terms of the spirit, surely they are not unaware of the fact that a large portion of the fanbase chooses Bae because they care deeply about both Chloe as a person and about the bond between these two characters, and want to have a chance at them being side-by-side in the future? For their bond to develop and mature further? Do they believe most Bae-ers would be *pleased* with a 'your LiS choice is now between Chloe dying and you never seeing her again, or her living but separating from Max and you also never seeing her again'? Do they think we sacrificed everything for Chloe because we *didn't* want her in our lives?
@@Jasongilliar look I love Chloe but she's had her limelight y'know? Both LiS and BtS centered around Chloe's life. What's wrong with having Max's story? The vitrol this game is receiving is insufferable just cuz Chloe isn't playing a major part of it. I'm honestly glad they went this route after seeing whatever's happening in LiS subreddit.
