This movie was such a trip. I went in blind as well and It shocked me at every turn. Mostly because my Black ass would’ve become a track star after the old man jumped to his death lol.
@@enyaandishara i don't know if you noticed, but the character Connie had the same reaction and they did k her to stop her from leaving (it's the scream you hear when the friend is looking at the ruby rodder and the friend say he "say her trying out for the Olympics")
This movie is my jam! I love how it flips the usual tropes of horror like killing at night into pure daylight. The use of foreigners in a foreign land not wanting to disrespect customs they don’t understand override their sense to run from messed up stuff vs the usual “don’t go in the dark room alone” type horror decisions.
I think you guys didn’t understand the beginning of the movie. Christian was planning on breaking up with her. He was going to do it. That’s why he had the Sweden trip planned and it didn’t include her. But then her family gets obliterated. How do you break up with someone on top of that?! He didn’t really have a choice. He didn’t want to be with her. But he couldn’t break up with her because she already lost everything. And as for “always talking in a mirror”, shots are always incredibly intentional in Ari’s films. Those conversations are meant to feel disjointed and awkward. Because they are.
Aster set out to disturb and he was successful in doing so, while touching on numerous aspects of mental health at the same time. This was one of the very best films of 2019 and Pugh and the musical score by British electronic composer Bobby Krlic, at the very least, deserved Oscar noms. Also, Aster spent numerous years researching for this film, even before the making of Hereditary (2018). You'd better believe that cults like this, with rituals directly and historically attributed to the Viking era, still exist in this day and age.
Enya and Ishara, Midsommar is one of my top favorite movies so I often go looking for reactions to watch on the occasional Saturday morning. I have seen my fair share. Time after time I felt frustrated by other reactions because none of the reactors were *feeling* every beat of trauma that Dani experienced along with her-- the way I was! That is what makes it one of my favs. The centrality of Dani's unique, traumatized experience weaved through the story and disorienting world she has ended up in. NO one seemed to notice/feel all the "little things" like the fact that Dani would be especially vulnerable during that cliff suicide scene and ANY decent partner would get her out of the situation instead of constantly abandoning her in the middle of it. You two felt that! I am finally satisfied by a Midsommar reaction. I have no idea why it took so long but I guess that makes you special. I am guilty of not subscribing to my youtube favs even when I have been watching them for awhile. This is the first time I have hit subscribe on a channel after only one video. I loved so many of your insights and aside comments. Looking forward to joining you on lots more reactions!
That means so much to us 😭 we’re so glad you enjoyed the video and that you felt connected with us as we watched the movie. While it stressed us out to no end it was good and we were DEFINITELY feeling what Dani was going through lol. I hope you continue to enjoy our content ❤️
So, the further North you go, the longer the days are in summer and the nights are in winter. I lived up in Alaska for about 10 years, and yeah, it would be full daylight at 9:00pm, there during summer. You adapt. Blackout curtains on the windows, etc. There's only about 3 hours of total darkness, so it sets super late and rises super early. Conversely, in Winter, you only have about 5 or 6 hours of full daylight, which was FAR worse for me.
I didn’t even think about Danni watching the child that would result from her boyfriend’s coupling grow up, but it would also be her child too, now that she is part of the cult and gained the family she was denied. Great observation on that. I’d like to add that Pele saw in her a perfect recruit from the beginning, and now that she has reached this point in her journey at the end of the movie shows she would have no reason to want to leave. Overall, a beautiful, horrific and contemplative film.
listening to florence pugh cry in the beginning never fails to give me chills. i lowkey tear up every time lol☹🌷 midsommar is the product of a sick mind & i love it!! i think danni becomes a funny, type-a, leslie knope-type character now that she's no longer horribly overwhelmed with grief & shame. which drives the cult up the wall because they were hoping for someone a little easier to control??? & instead got stuck with dani who keeps saying things like "i'm white & even i know that food is criminally underseasoned". but my mind is a strange place🤷🏾 costume prediction: ishara - a witch & enya - a villain. idk i'm just ball parking it lol

The thing about the cliff suicides part is how real it looks, like they really had the actors hitting the ground and the actual human face getting smashed .... most horror movies have a "props" look where you can tell its a fake model stand-in but this movie really makes it look like a real person in flesh getting smashed , thats why its so hard to watch ...
We have a variation of braids in my culture too, and we are not african. In BCE times women mastered them because they couldn't take care of their hair, so you can see a lot of different braids styles here. You can see a similar one to box braids and i can assure you that it has nothing to do with your culture, it's even called a different name because of our language. So please, don't think that everyone wearing them is stealing something from your culture, because not all white people had slaves or no culture of their own.😂😂 I'm not trying to start an argument or smth, just wanted to point it out because i know it's a big thing for some people. Interesting thing btw, if someone can understand where you come from with the annoyance that some people just culture appropriate other cultures, it's probably me, since my ancestors were enslaved themselves for 500 years. Loved your video btw, first time watching but will be back!
my friend said something that cracks me up alll the time the scene where dani is crying wth the harga women is the human equivilant to pressing down on the entire case of screaming chicken toys at walmart to here them all scream at once
Everyone gets a turn. It's like whack a mole lol. Always funny reactions to this scene lol. Funny how many times they keep showing their faces and especially that wierdo shot of his head inflating being crushed and popping back out lol. Everyone should always go feet first though face pow that's gruesome but at least feet first it's whack a mole time lol.
That cult dude wants dani. Probably always did. I don't blame him. She's awesome just sucky hand but now she can start over lol. Start over with him I bet he wants now she's single. He wants to be may king to her may queen lol. For a cult guy he's way better than Christian but that's the idea lol. He's grooming priming her every time they are talking in thus leading her to the end. Love she's finally smiling and happy though it's creepy and what's making her smile and now she's consumed by a cult. There's no dani only cult lol.

Jack said that women are expected to get naked in horrors, so he wanted to balance the count and was OK to go full frontal. So I respect him for it.
