Born and Raised here. Intriguing and breathtaking architecture, very diverse and urban, friendly people, great food and sports. It gets FREEZING here though guys. Please visit May through October. Awesome videography ! God bless you all! 🙏🏻☺️
It's fun to surf photos Chicago during the early 20th Century, particularly the period between 1915 and 1930, and see the awesome engineering that went into building the area on either side of the river. There was very little construction from 1930 to about 1953, due to the Great Depression and World War II. But, after the construction of the Prudential Building, which I watched as a kid, Chicago took off and construction never stopped.
This is where my husband & I was raised at & grew up at in Chicago IL. He was Southside. I was Westside. We met in Tucson Az. I miss our hometown. 😍🌈❤️👍
I'm from the 'burbs since '51. Many fine memories of downtown. Saw Woodstock the movie on State Street, that Great Street. The Prudential Bldg was highest at 44 floors. Navy Pier became Grand Avenue. Start of Route 66 a few blocks south.
Speakin' of Chicago's vlogs, well I've watched thousands but non of them even close to this one ... So, honestly, thank you for it . Am a fan already .
Nice video. Also would like to see video of the incredible architecture design of these buildings. That are all so unique. Not one the same. I think that’s what really sets Chicago apart from other cities Also it has to be the cleanest world class city. Amazing city.
It is indeed, a beautiful city (also my home and that of my ancestors -- since 1836). And not only is the city core wonderful, so are many of the neighborhoods.
One of the best videos about Chicago I have seen. Beautifully done! There are some changes in this city after your video was made, such as that the topping out of the Vista Tower, which you can find in my videos.
the first building ( 875 North Michigan av) was formerly known as the John Hancock Center .The building was then owned by the John Hancock Insurance company when the building was sold The Insurance co did not want their name associated with the building in any shape or foam ( mostly due legal reasons and possible law suites in the future ) As of May 2nd 2020 ( today's date ) the building has no formal name and the 875 Michigan Ave is it's street address . But like many other famous chicago buildings that have their official names changed ( like the Sears tower now officially the Willis Tower ) many chicagoans it will always be call it the "John Hancock Center "
@@lipby Depends on what kind of energy one likes..Chicago has it's own type of energy. I lived in both cities. New York City is more electric in nature..while Chicago has a laid back dynamism..that many folks like while in Chicago I meet a number of NYC transplants.. they all said Chicago had more room & was less crowed & hectic, they felt they could grow there..remember in the 20th century it was NYC & Chicago that were the 2 dynamo of that era..I Love Both for different reasons as it should be !
Frank Kolton (as of 8-27-19): "...in the black half of the city..." Chicago doesn't have a "black half of the city." Last I checked, Chicago is 29% black. Robert Slack (as of 8-27-19): "Nyc has far more energy" Well, I would hope so: N.Y.C. has over THREE TIMES as many people!
@@glorymanheretosleep umm no it's not you obviously not familiar with it. Actually some of its nicest areas are in it's neighborhoods. Most tourists just go downtown and perhaps just don't realize this or just how big Chicago actually is.

Been there. It's still marvelous..just I don't know about the buildings occupying every space which can make me feel a little.. unsettled. I would still live in a greener space.

I like chicago
Wow it great
I want to live on either NYC or Chicago. Which is better? Comment pls
They both suck. But Chicago is better in both downtown and the suburbs in my opinion. Just because it is "roomier" and has less population density.
Nyc has far more energy
