I don’t know how to put into words the joy I felt listening to your video. I felt so sad for your younger self feeling crushed by your teacher, her thoughtless reaction to your self expression was heart breaking and I’m sorry for the time you lost lacking confidence in your ability and freedom to express your self! Words can’t express how you touched my heart. I have always been the baby of my family and the black sheep of my family. When I started crafting I was afraid that this would be one more thing that would come between me and my siblings now that both of our parents are gone. It has done the opposite. They embrace me and my creativity. They bring projects to me. They each have told me that God speaks through my creativity. I was also able to repair the spine of a Bible for my oldest sister’s friend. Crafting has been healing not just for me alone, but for my relationship with my siblings. Your video has touched my heart!❤ Thank you for sharing your story!❤

Sadly my Mother always made me feel I was useless and somewhat unwanted which I now believe has made me very sensitive. I have found great joy in creating junk journals, creating is a great source of therapy ❤

I love that you shared your journey with us, thank you for that. When I was a child of only 5 I was a happy child. My mother divorced and remarried an abusive man who caused me to become withdrawn and introverted. So I turned to art, and journaling. Art gave me a place for my words. ❤️

When I was 4 years old our teacher set up easels and gave us paints for the papers. I painted my entire paper completely and it was so fun. But my teacher scolded me for covering the entire paper and not leaving room to put my name and told me to not do that again. It ruined my joy of art in a way and I always held back because of worrying I will do something wrong. I had little creativity. I am 53 now and still struggle with that. Thank you for sharing your similar story and your inspiration! ❤

I SO RELATE to those voices, I am still working through them and sometimes I come up on top and am happy with what I create. I am still 'scared' in many ways, but I am becoming braver thanks to artists like yourself out there. I may just go seek out a face painter next time I see one and get my face painted. Yes, do that! I've only had mine painted once and I was an adult. It was at my god-daughter's birthday party and it made me feel young and playful again.

I'm with you. About time I dusted those cobwebs and enjoy my own creative expression. Thank you for sharing. I remember when I was about 12 and I bought myself a pair of tie dyed purple flares. I loved those pants until a family friend told me if you like purple your not very intelligent. So at the age of 60 something I'm going to find me some purple pants and relive how I felt wearing those colourful pants.❤ and do some art journalling.

Francesca, thanks so much for sharing your story with us. I have a background in software engineering, at my work everything has to be precise, lots of numbers and lines of code. So I turned to scrapbooking and mini albums in order to let my creative side had some fun. But specially in the mini albums I made, there were lots o measumerements and things had to be very well done so the mini album looked good. Sometimes that stressed me so much because they didn´t turn out the way I expected. And then I found junk journaling and it was liberating. Most of the time, when creating a junk journal, I don´t even measure I just tear the paper, stamp and I don´t care if it´s centered or not, I don´t use fancy and expensive tools or materials is so much fun and makes me feel so free. And finding your channel and looking at all the beautiful journals you create is a real joy for me. Thanks so much for showing your work. I love it. YOU´RE A WONDERFUL ARTIST.

I felt the same way about scrapbooking. Sometimes it would stress me out so much. I remember one spread I was working featuring my mom and dad and it didn't please me at all. I felt i had used the wrong paper. I went out and bought all new scrapbook paper and started all over again. Junk journaling is so much relaxing and fun!

Ive discovered about junk journal a couolenof years ago, did some pryects tonguve them away, but now a days im just feelninwan tondo nothing and then regret of dping nothing . So very inspiring listening to you speak. Tears are running down my face. I am also sorry for the time you lost. I never really gave it much thought as to why I loved to create and express myself. It seems others appreciate my work, but they don't "feel" it as I do. If I try to share it the usual is "that's nice". I don't let it bother me. So many thoughts and feelings right now … I didn’t have a teacher do something like that to me but it was more like a procession of people that had so many critiques and suggestions. I took all that in and all those thoughts crippled my creativity. I have great ideas but when I go to make something I freeze and talk myself down because someone will just tell me how I could make it better if… So, I am taking your video as a challenge to myself. I will not get too much in my head and let my inner child free to make and create. That I know everything I need to know and let go of my doubts and the not good enoughs. Admittedly, I am kinda frightened. I can and will push past those moments. This video came along at the right time. You are amazing! 💙🦋

I had a teacher, first grade, who didn’t like me. Called me by my full name. To this day it still bothers me, that was almost 60 years ago. It’s a shame things like that stay with us. Thank you for sharing. Many of us are blessed by loving parents that encourage us. Yet we allowed those few teachers to over effect us, and for way too many years. Sadly, I think this still happens in schools today. We all need to think before we speak. Words are so powerful to build up and to destroy. Junk journal making is an amazing place to heal. So many forms of art are involved! And perfection does not belong. We can explore and discover and create to your hearts content. Ho sempre amato l'idea di tenere un diario, da quando ero piccola... non sono mai riuscita ad essere costante e (un po' mi imbarazza ammetterlo) ho capito che il grosso scoglio era che qualcuno potesse vederlo e giudicarlo. Per questo tentavo sempre di riempirlo con frasi e cose bellissime e finivo per viverlo come un compito piuttosto che un piacere. I tuoi video li ho scoperti da poco e li ho trovati bellissimi e ispiranti. Ti ringrazio perché non parli solo di tecniche ma anche di come converrebbe vivere un diario. Oggi, anche per una serie di cose personali che mi stanno accadendo, la frase "perfection is boring" mi ha fatto aprire un sorriso e sarà la frase della pagina odierna del mio neonato art journal. ❤ Anche se dovrei tatuarmela!!! 😂

Yes, do that! I've only had mine painted once and I was an adult. It was at my god-daughter's birthday party and it made me feel young and playful again.

I'm with you. About time I dusted those cobwebs and enjoy my own creative expression. Thank you for sharing. I remember when I was about 12 and I bought myself a pair of tie dyed purple flares. I loved those pants until a family friend told me if you like purple your not very intelligent. So at the age of 60 something I'm going to find me some purple pants and relive how I felt wearing those colourful pants.❤ and do some art journalling.

Francesca, thanks so much for sharing your story with us. I have a background in software engineering, at my work everything has to be precise, lots of numbers and lines of code. So I turned to scrapbooking and mini albums in order to let my creative side had some fun. But specially in the mini albums I made, there were lots o measumerements and things had to be very well done so the mini album looked good. Sometimes that stressed me so much because they didn´t turn out the way I expected. And then I found junk journaling and it was liberating. Most of the time, when creating a junk journal, I don´t even measure I just tear the paper, stamp and I don´t care if it´s centered or not, I don´t use fancy and expensive tools or materials is so much fun and makes me feel so free. And finding your channel and looking at all the beautiful journals you create is a real joy for me. Thanks so much for showing your work. I love it. YOU´RE A WONDERFUL ARTIST.

I felt the same way about scrapbooking. Sometimes it would stress me out so much. I remember one spread I was working featuring my mom and dad and it didn't please me at all. I felt i had used the wrong paper. I went out and bought all new scrapbook paper and started all over again. Junk journaling is so much relaxing and fun!

Im in feeling a dark way at the moment, undertand and being touching for your words lack of motivation for doing anything. Ive discovered about junk journal a couolenof years ago, did some pryects tonguve them away, but now a days im just feelninwan tondo nothing and then regret of dping nothing .

So very inspiring listening to you speak. Tears are running down my face. I am also sorry for the time you lost. I never really gave it much thought as to why I loved to create and express myself. It seems others appreciate my work, but they don't "feel" it as I do. If I try to share it the usual is "that's nice". I don't let it bother me. So many thoughts and feelings right now … I didn’t have a teacher do something like that to me but it was more like a procession of people that had so many critiques and suggestions. I took all that in and all those thoughts crippled my creativity. I have great ideas but when I go to make something I freeze and talk myself down because someone will just tell me how I could make it better if…
So, I am taking your video as a challenge to myself. I will not get too much in my head and let my inner child free to make and create. That I know everything I need to know and let go of my doubts and the not good enoughs. Admittedly, I am kinda frightened. I can and will push past those moments. This video came along at the right time.

Your journal is so gorgeous. I am so happy for you that you regained your artist side. I wish negative people when we are young wouldn’t affect us like they do. I had a teacher, first grade, who didn’t like me. Called me by my full name. To this day it still bothers me, that was almost 60 years ago. It’s a shame things like that stay with us. Thank you for sharing. Many of us are blessed by loving parents that encourage us. Yet we allowed those few teachers to over effect us, and for way too many years. Sadly, I think this still happens in schools today. We all need to think before we speak. Words are so powerful to build up and to destroy. Junk journal making is an amazing place to heal. So many forms of art are involved! And perfection does not belong. We can explore and discover and create to your hearts content. Free to discover what is possible, what speaks to our own heart, what our mind comes up with. And if we are really blessed, we find a guide that we very much relate too. ❤😊

Ho sempre amato l'idea di tenere un diario, da quando ero piccola... non sono mai riuscita ad essere costante e (un po' mi imbarazza ammetterlo) ho capito che il grosso scoglio era che qualcuno potesse vederlo e giudicarlo. Per questo tentavo sempre di riempirlo con frasi e cose bellissime e finivo per viverlo come un compito piuttosto che un piacere. I tuoi video li ho scoperti da poco e li ho trovati bellissimi e ispiranti. Ti ringrazio perché non parli solo di tecniche ma anche di come converrebbe vivere un diario. Oggi, anche per una serie di cose personali che mi stanno accadendo, la frase "perfection is boring" mi ha fatto aprire un sorriso e sarà la frase della pagina odierna del mio neonato art journal. ❤
