*We learnt so much from a man who never existed* R.I.P Arthur Morgan. “There ain’t no shame in looking for a better world”. “We can’t change what’s done, we can only move on”. “Be loyal to what matters”. “Vengeance is an idiot’s game”. “You don’t get to live a bad life and have good things happen to you”. *Arthur saw red, ended up dead, but he found redemption*
He didn’t find redemption he strived for it and received it by helping ppl and helping John and his family. That’s how men perceived as *“bad”* want in life just another shot that proves that we are good people aswell and to die on a path for goodness. It’s very sad but that’s actually real life, if you look at criminals or men with a traumatic past most of them or us don’t want to die in vein. We want to die helping others and hopefully get redemption through that. So Arthurs death is actually like giving me another appreciation for military etc. because they actually die for us. To be free and flourish _Arthurs death is very deep_
For some reason Micah's line "I'm a survivor, that's all there is, living and dying" really sticks out to me. I think it might be the only true thing Micah says in the whole game.
Its not the only true thing he says in the game. He sometimes opens up in camp like when he talked about his family, his view on life or him calling himself crazy, but yeah this line is great, it gives you the idea of who is Micah and how he sees the world. You can also hear him saying that there is no good or evil, only living and dying, but maybe there is a damnation and he is know what is it like and would feel there like at home, that is my favourite Micah speech in the whole game, I really empatheiezed him first time I heard it
The "thank you" Arthur says to his horse before moving on always gets me. When I played this the first time through I was SOBBING and I thought I couldn't sob harder then Arthur said that and I was hysterical. It's such a punch to the gut! Like you said, you get to mentally prepare for Arthur's death. The horse? Completely unexpected.
The horse was the last straw for me. As if the rest of the game wasn’t traumatic enough, they had to kill the fucking horse… Somebody in that writers room woke up and chose violence.
Thank YOU! Quite a while ago now I was doing my 4th full playthrough of RDR2 and seeing as I was looking up some stuff on how to get the best horses and guns and treasures my algorythm gave me more and more RDR2 content. One of them was of a streamer doing her first playthrough and I thought it could be a nice background whilest I was playing. Little did I know that I had stumbled upon the amazing KaliWali who in no time would not only steal much of my attention, but also a little bit of my heart. It's been a true joy seeing your sincere and thoughtful takes on these bits of culture. It was quite the ride! Thank you so much for taking us along your journey through the adventures of Arthur. But, you've got quite a ways to go! I know you thought that the end of Arthur would be the end of the game, but that epilogue is a rather big chunk still to go through :) And it's some of the most wholesome gaming that exists. It is NOT a simple add on. This epilogue is just as stunning in story and content as all 6 other chapters. Make sure to take your time and explore! Go back to all the places you've been with Arthur to dig up some nice memories. (I'm sure you're mods can nudge you towards all the nice things still to see.) There is also a massive new part of the map that you'll be able to explore now, though you already know most of it ;) Though I really hope that after the insane load of emotional content you've given us these last weeks, you'll also do some more wholesome and comedic content too, because you deserve it after this!
@@kaliwali Kali, when you can, pay another visit to the old camps, there may be new things there. The camps throughout the game are Colter, Horseshoe Overlook, Clemens Point, Shady Belle, Lakay and Beaver Hollow. Revisit the camps to see if there are new things there.
Against any and every expectation, it's one of the best and most rewarding parts of the game, and even brings some truly joyful tears. (Of course you really should play RDR1 first if you want to get the full reward of what they do in the Epilogue).
i really do enjoy both, but sometimes it comes down to if i want to play as someone who knows how to swim or not xD but the detail is amazing when you compare how each character is. different weapon draw animation, walk, run. a whole new character
Am I really missing out being that I never actually finished the game? Pretty much did like 1 mission as John and never finished. Eventually I did another playthrough on PS5 and stopped at the American Father mission right before the Saint Denis bank job and Cuba (around the time Arthur starts looking sick)
1:14:23 I always loved this line.. It is a callback to Chapter 3 when Arthur and Sadie went into Rhodes and he said "I would ride with you again Mrs Adler, if you would ride with me". Well done on completing the main story! You'll enjoy the epilogue. I understand you need a break but please return to the game after. There's more story to be told and I think you'll enjoy how it all plays out 🤗
I have never seen side quests having such a significant emotional impact on the main story quite like this game did. All those side missions made the last ride *THAT* much more emotionally impactful. We also triggered one of the best scenes in gaming history by doing the nun missions. To think that's entirely dependent on your actions as a player is a testament to how exceptionally well-written this game is, it adds SO much to the experience and absolutely elevates this game to greater emotional heights
True! I also think that Dutch is triggered so much because Arthur's insisting is the definitive proof that Arthur no longer has faith in Dutch and thus is basically saying that Dutch is not "good" anymore, that he is flawed. And if there is one thing that triggers a narcisist into a spiral, it's facing them with their flaws.
Thank you for this amazing playthrough! Like with RDR1 too, your playthrough of this game made me appreciate the story so much more than when I just played it alone. You really put your entire heart and soul into this game and it shows in the quality of these videos. They've been enlightening, thought provoking, and even eye opening. Making me realize things that I never would have seen otherwise. Taking what's already an incredible story and turning it into so much more. So a big thank you to all that you do, once again Also I don't blame you for all the tears at Epona's death. I only had my main horse for about half the game, and even still losing him at the end, and Arthur's "Thank You" as he passed, wrecked me. Let alone you who have had Epona since literally episode 1 or 2 Very very excited for the Epilogue! Been missing the days of you running around as John in RDR1. Good times ahead!
Ben Davis, the performance capture for Dutch, said that in one of his runs through that last “I gave you all I had” scene he walked up the ramp and turned his back on the others and just bawled for a minute
Arthur Morgan - Truly one of the greatest fictional characters to ever exist. Even saying that he is fictional feels wrong, as he is one of the most real and humane characters in the history of media... He as a person may be gone...the good marks he left on people, and his ultimate redemption, they will never be forgotten... His legacy will live through John and Jack
@@scarletkinkajou1 I asked CHATGPT who's the greatest character and best, emotionally written figure in gaming history, and it replied "Arthur Morgan- Red Dead Redemption 2, as per my opinion". Well, no debate against it, is there?
35:30 The reason they show the text about how the loot is split between the gang is because it's also showing you that you were cut out for that last score. On the right hand side of the screen, at the same time that that text comes up, it shows that Arthur's take is $0. It's actually a really cool way to show that the gang has completely cut you out at this point.
thanks to your story heavy playthrough i caught even more details on story even if i have played this game two times and have hundred percent completion. it just goes deeper and deeper as one plays… 💙 thank you very much. and now, as you played red dead one first, im reaalllyyy looking forward to you playing the epilogue part… ✨
i'm so glad I decided to play the games in release order! John is my favorite character because of that, but boy did Arthur come in an extremely close second. I loved my time so much with Arthur and his journey but I can't wait to hop back in with John! 💚
@@kaliwaliAgreed. A lot of players started with Rdr2, and it still works as a story obviously but you just can't fuly appreciate the story in chronological order for the first playthrough as much as you do with release order. I've loved your let's play🎉😊
Kali I completely get you. I was bracing for Arthur's death from the moment he got diagnosed but my horse my little star I had for 90 of those 100hrs I spent playing the game was just gone. I was sobbing so hard cause she was just gone. I could barely see during the micah fight as well as I felt just how much Arthur was struggling. Man I started crying along with you rethinking of my own playthrough earlier this year
omg I feel a bit shocked and embarrassed that I cried harder over Epona's death than Arthur's! but I think it really is because the game gives you time and moments to grieve while still playing as him 💚
@@kaliwalisame, I just didn't think about my horse dying i don't know just my horse felt special that even if I got another horse with the same breed it just isn't the same from my first playthrough
@@kaliwali also dont forget your playing as Arthur, who you make spend time bonding with your horse so there is more of 'you controlled Arthur but you bonded with the horse' theme at play here aswell.
"People die. It's the way it is, always has been. Me, you, Dutch... we've all been in this line of work a long time, and we're still here, so... I figure we must've got it right a hell of a lot more than we got it wrong." - Arthur to Hosea.
Just fyi, the epilogue takes place in 1907, 8 years after the main game (1899) and 3-4 years before RDR 1 (1911). Remember in RDR 1 when John told Bonnie he'd only "been a rancher for 3 years or so"? Well, here we are, lol. And yes, the epilogue chapters set up the events of the first game. Also, if you are like me and can't stand John with short hair (lol), you can recreate John's hair and facial hair from RDR 1 (or get as close as possible to it) by following these steps: Hair: - Right parted, level 5 (level 6 also works, altough it's a bit longer than his RDR 1 hair and resembles his RDR 2 1899 NPC hair more). Facial hair: - Dundreary sideburns level 2. - Chin (natural) level 1. - Pencil mustache level 2.
Yea I rewound the video back by 5 seconds to check that, and damn, Arthur was so fast at the draw that Micah would be dead meat the next moment if only Morgan just fucking shot that rat. But if Arthur did that, then Dutch would think Arthur was the rat, and would stick to that belief forever.
The epilogue is fantastic. Getting to play again as John was what so many of us wanted since rdr1 and for a lot of people that was nearly a decade of waiting. Rockstar somehow managed to give you a whole new character to fall in love with and still give us John back in the end.
I hope there was someone home to give you a big hug after you stopped recording 💚, I remember feeling sad for an entire day after Arhur's death, I didn't feel like playing the epilogue,it took me an entire week before being ready to resume playing. The epilogue starts slowly but it gets really fun after a short while!! Can't wait for the next upload!! Have a good week Kali!!
Another 2 things you can do : go visit the graves of all the characters in your gang to pay your respects . If you listen closely to all the old gang camp sites you had , you'll hear ghost of the characters .
Of all the play throughs I've watched of RDR2 on You Tube I have to say yours by far has been the most enjoyable to watch. And as John I'm sure it'll only get better ❤
R.I.P to apona! I usually see gameplay of people getting killing horses like their nothing and selling their horses for better ones but you was damn loyal to that horse just like I was when I first played this beautiful game as a grown ass man I was right here crying with you
The fact she didn’t even get epona near deaths doors was impressive because I definitely had a few moments where I accidentally fatally injured my horse and casually deleted hours of my play through just so I could get my horse back loollll
AAAHH IT’S HEREEE! I’ve tried my best since episode 4 to catch up with this play through but I haven’t quite made it (currently on part 38). I will be back to bawl my eyes out with you soon but man watching people’s reactions to the end of the main story never gets old and never gets less emotional
Oh, I've been waiting for this one with baited breath! I'll be honest, ass a grown ass man, I'm not too proud to admit I was weeping hard during Arthurs last ride when I first played the game! I'm glad you kept the same horse throughout, because I knew that would hit hard! The final moments of the gand and Arthur's last stand on mountain are heart wrenching, but like RDR1 you have an epilogue, only this one is a little... bigger...
Those last couple episodes hit so hard. I still havent seen a playthrough where the horse scene doesn't get very emotional. Great playthrough, and looking forward to your adventures as John!
I really like your playthrough and the thoughtful way you comment. RDR2 is my favorite game, and it will be hard to ever have a character like Arthur Morgan again. You should definitely visit Arthur’s grave!
Loved (and liked) all your episodes of what has to be one of the greatest games ever, Arthur's death is really gut wrenching and seeing your grief brought a tear to my eye....and I'm 65 😢
And here we come to a very emotional end to a very special protagonist, probably one of my favourites of all time. After this emotional rollercoaster of a send off for Arthur you will still have a exceptional epilogue in John's shoes. I also very much loved RDR2's epilogue, it has very wholesome moments, epic moments and also it's share of emotional moments, looking forward to see you play RDR2 to it's true end! And remember, you can visit people's graves, so you know who's you have to visit as John... And also, remember the strange man's house in the swamp!
Epona just riding right up into Cornwall Kerosene and Tar. Skittish the entire game and runs right into a fight with the Army. He was a good boah right up til the end. Super excited to see you play through the epilogue. I can promise you one thing. It will heal many wounds. And although I played RDR1 first, and loved John, and then played RDR2 and loved Arthur more, and was initially bummed about playing Arthur... and then bummed about playing as John again... lol. It's so worth it.
You know come to think of it, what would've gone through her head had she known the man who saved her life is on that train firing a Gatling gun near her house killing the law 😅 What a thing to find out, if only she knew 😅
First time I’ve seen someone keep Arthur at average/normal weight all the way until his death. Feels strange seeing him like that in those end scenes and not skinny
One thing I’ve noticed is that he looks like he could do modeling when he is extremely underweight with empty cores. Quite ironic, considering how the modern world works.
I don't know if I'm ready either. lol. Losing Arthur is the knife that just keeps twisting. But, we get to play as John now and you have a "new" area to explore. You're gonna get those nostalgia feels. 😉
Big tip: to make it easier for yourself just follow the mission chain. The game will let you know when it’s time to go off free roaming again plus you’ll be equipped for it!
I've simply never seen a more beautiful soul play this masterpiece of our time so eloquently and gracefully. It has been an honor to watch this play through and I look forward to all that is still to come :)
It is worth noting if you read this, that you have many hours of gameplay left so one should not feel hurried to wrap it up in a time that fits in a RUclips video.. I suspect you have 2-3 or 3-4 more videos if they are 2 hours each like this one :). Really can't wait :)
Hi Kali, I was going to say this yesterday, but i to was emotional (even if i seen it allot, it still gets to me). Anyway when you said at the end play abit with John, (so it can not be a spoiler) i wanted to say this imagine Arthur's voice saying this to you: "Kali..It ain't over untill the fat lady sings…well i leave you to it then" 👍🏽😇
The dialogue writing for this game is awesome, even some throwaway lines are perfect. Two of my favourites from the final mission. When the train is flying by, Arthur 'should I just sneak on now?' And Micah on Arthur returning to camp 'Black Lung you're back, Hooray'
That was epic and you did amazing Kelly I loved every second of it we have been on one hell of a ride I can't wait to see the rest of your rdr2 journey ight I hope you are having a epic and blessed night 🌙 ❤❤❤100
kali thank you so much for such a wonderful, thoughtful, in-depth, and heartfelt play through. while i am excited to see you play through the epilogue i've so enjoyed watch you play through the main story, it was almost like playing through it for the first time. the game really is a life changer. i know it changed me. thanks again, and i can't wait for more whether it be more read dead, a reaction video or anything else. you are amazing!
When I played this game for the first time a few months ago, I already knew Arthur was going to die. Unfortunately, it had been impossible to avoid spoilers after all this time. But what I didn’t know was how. I thought it would be the more expected trope where the gang is making some final daring escape, and Dutch pulls a “you’re not coming with us” and shoots Arthur and leaves him behind. Arthur’s illness was the last thing I was expecting, but I also can’t overstate how much I enjoyed and appreciated the writing of this final chapter as a result. Even without spoilers, I think most can anticipate Arthur's death, yet the story just hits so hard. Going back to something I said wayyy back before you even played RDR1 that the beauty in the writing of this game is all the emotions of discovering "how things happened" rather than just "what happens next". Truly the perfect prequel Arthur was given time. Time that Lenny and Hosea, and countless others were not afforded. Time that he could use to define his legacy. Who is he really, deep down in his heart? For most of his life, I feel Arthur let his circumstances and the misfortunes of his past define who he was. Just a simple outlaw, angry at the world, out for vengeance. But that’s not the real Arthur. His newfound perspective on life after the diagnosis and some words from people who truly care about him helped him see that. It wasn’t about him anymore. It was about protecting those who need protecting, and saving those who need saving. And with passing his hat off, John now carries his legacy forward. This wasn’t Arthur’s vengeance tour, this wasn’t even a justice arc, it was instead Arthur’s final…. Redemption
It's certainly been an adventure, its something that each playthrough is different in some ways but does end up in the similar path. Great job on the content here.
I have watched Arthur's death more than 10 times through different gamers' gameplay, every time tears come automatically without fail, even though till now I haven’t played this game by myself.
When it comes to the conversation with Sadie and Arthur, I've always loved this conversation because it finally shows how much Arthur opened his eyes towards what Dutch was doing, and that was finding people who basically have nothing but anger and even resentment and using that for his own purpose. Once that anger and resentment are gone, Dutch begins to caste them aside. It's such a powerful idea that Arthur begins to realize it, and while he was able to save as much as he could, and was able to let go of that anger that he had not just towards Dutch, but all the years he was alive, its when he certainly achieved his redemption.
1:35:16 - If you look at Javier you can see him hesitating here. That was actually put in because his voice actor when doing motion capture felt he couldn't bring himself to point a gun at John and Arthur, and in the end the developers decided to keep it in.
"If you hadn't shown up at my house that night, I'd be dead.....and even this bullshit beats dead". My favorite line! Looking forward to your endeavors as "Jim Milton". R I P Epona 🙏🐴😇🐎❤
Did you see how Javier reacted to chosing a side? He was the only one pointing his gun up than going against his brothers. Such a cool detailed by the actor that actually made that choice. He even confirmed that in interviews.
Sorry about Elpona, he was a good horse , may he rest in peace in horse heaven with an unlimited supply of carrots and apples 🥕🍎 There is still much to do in this game with John so you could also take a break if you need it. The story still goes on quite a bit but you almost made it. Thanks for the great playthough eventhough I missed most of the middle part due to not having enough time over the summer. Lookling forward to whatever you are playing next
Losing Epona was so sad.. 😮💨😞 I am really excited to see this world through John now though! I'm so excited that I can have more time exploring in this game in my favorite character's shoes now! 😱✨
RIP Arthur… I havent seen too many say this but since youre a big fan of God of War too i think there are alot of similarities between Arthur and Kratos. I mean the dodgy pasts, losing a child, the urge to do better and be a better person. As much i love Kratos im glad Roger Clark won best performance for this game over Chris Judge in 2018. Arthurs arc is masterful, but i think Dutchs journey is just brilliant!! Really brilliant writing.. Id love to see you play GTA 5 as a contrast to this game 😂😂
One of the cruelest cuts Dutch inflicts in the game isn't just that he leaves Arthur during the factory job: it's that Eagle Flies has been clearly shot, and rather than acknowledge him in any way at all, Dutch confirms this is all, "Just as I planned."
Howdy Kali 🫡! Firstly, love the change of Thumbnail to showing Arthur and his final scene watching the sunrise, perfect episode for this 👊🏽. What a ride it’s been with Arthur, loved every moment watching you play the main chapters and a fitting end to his story. Love how Susan at beginning comforted Tilly showing her warm motherly side 🤧. Also, Tilly saying how she’ll miss Arthur gets me every time, like a daughter saying goodbye to her Dad for final time :/. Although Epona was skittish, he was loyal and reliable enough to get you around the map, so so glad you didn’t give into the White Arabian cult 👀😄. RIP Epona, Thank You 🫡! Hearing the slower version of Unshaken, “Crash of Worlds” hits so hard as the final song plays during Arthur’s final scene. Watching Arthur take his final breath & dying alone on the mountain is so tragic while being beautiful seeing the sunrise too :/. RIP to my all time fave Fictional Character, Arthur Morgan. I stopped playing for weeks cause it felt like I’d lost an older brother or uncle before I played Epilogue. Interesting thing about this John part, there’s a HUGE percentage of people who stopped playing after Arthur’s passing and didn’t feel as connected to John & also cause of how incredible Arthur was a character which is why I’m glad you chose Release Order to play the game in, makes the run to the end all the more rewarding. One suggestion with John, no matter what Hat the game forces you to wear, please equip Arthur’s Gambler Hat he gave John as a tribute to him to end of the game and you don’t need to make John look like he was in RDR1, he has a full 4 years before he becomes that guy and all of RDR1 to look like his does in that game so feel free to grow out his hair and beard and style as you see fit, up to you though. Anyways, look forward to the rest of the Epilogue & your reaction to how the rest of the story pans out. Okay, I’ll catch ya later then Kali 👋🏽!
I definitely agree that playing the game in release order makes this epilogue that much more epic and meaningful 💚 full circling back to John is such an awesome thing for Rockstar to give to their OG Red Dead fans! i'm so excited to start these next chapters with John. It was great to hear from you again! I hope you've been well!
@@kaliwali Full circle is best way to describe it 👊🏽. I’ve been good, been leaving comments in last few episodes but days after release as I’ve been behind. Hope alls well with you and your family on your Chicago trip 🙏🏽. Also, loved your commentary on Social Media, we’re living in the most connected time in history yet also the most loneliest as well, more like ANTI Social Media smh.
I honestly can't stand RDR 2 epilogue John not looking like RDR 1 John. Maybe it's because I played the first game relentlessly back when it came out and that look is just burned into my memory. During the main game it makes sense he doesn't have the exact look because he's 12 years younger, but the epilogue only takes place about 4 years before RDR 1, so it makes sense he'd transition to his RDR 1 look by that point. I just cringe whenever I see videos of John with short hair or massive beards (that hide most of his face). He looks so wrong to me, lol. I always recreate his look and outfits from the first game in the epilogue (I particularly enjoy recreating his duster coat and elegant suit from RDR 1. There's RUclips videos dedicated to recreating his RDR 1 outfits in RDR 2). Someone up above in the comments has done a breakdown of how to get John to look like his RDR 1 self. I highly recommend following that, if you want.
@@BeUgLo97-ti9rj I like Main Story John but his Epilogue look using Arthur’s model was lazy and in part from some Reddit theories was to help people who hadn’t played RDR1 to acclimate them into playing as John as like I said above, there’s a Huge percentage of people who didn’t play the Epilogue, many of them to this day not even playing RDR1. Did that work? Nope, still many haven’t played Epilogue. As for making him look more like RDR1 John? We’ll agree to disagree, like irl, I would hate to have the same hairstyle, beard and clothes I wore 4 years prior and I don’t want that for my version of John either, he has the entirety of RDR1 to look like his does 4 years from Epilogue but the beauty of this and other games like this, we can tailor our characters look however we individually see fit 👍🏽😊.
This “game” was like being part of a movie but it’s so much more than that because you play as the main character. It’s hard to put into words. I never thought a video game would tug at my heart strings like this one did. Arthur Morgan is by far the best of the best!
Both RDR1 and RDR2 compliment each other. If you’ve played RDR1 and play 2, it elevates it because you know a bit of what happens, in 1, John eludes to things, and some things are super wrapped up in mystery and ambiguity, but in RDR2, you get all the details, as you are in them! You also see old characters return from 1 as well. if you’ve played RDR2 first and play RDR1 after, the same thing can be said. Old characters return and a continuation of the story and the task at hand becomes more meaningful because of the past events.
I've played this a few times and watched playthroughs with different youtubers, so I obviously knew what was going to happen so didn't worry about being teary-eyed. Wrong!! It still gets me emotionally. Especially when your horse dies. Great game!!
In the valley of outlaws, where the wild winds roam, Stood a man named Arthur, far from hearth and home. A rider on the tempest, with steel in his eyes, A heart worn by sorrow, and a soul full of lies. He rode with the gang, with Dutch by his side, In search of a freedom where dreams could abide. But the years turned cruel, and the paths grew thin, As the shadows of choices crept under his skin. With a cough that cut deep, like a blade in the night, The reaper drew close, taking life from his sight. He stared at the sky, saw the end drawing near, And faced down his demons with a heart full of fear. Yet in his last days, something changed in his mind, A yearning for peace, for a life left behind. He saw through the chaos, the lies, and the gold, And found in his heart, a story untold. A friend to the lost, a savior to John, He set forth a path for a new day's dawn. With his gun in his hand, and a smile bittersweet, He rode to the end, where fate and honor meet. In the light of the morning, as the world turned to gray, Arthur laid down his life as the shadows gave way. His spirit now free, like the wind on the plain, A legend, a man, who found peace in the pain. For Arthur Morgan, who lived wild and fast, Found redemption and love, in the end, at last. A hero to some, a sinner to most, Now rides with the sunset, a wandering ghost.
There's one cool detail I wanted to point out in case you missed it, I think a lot of people miss this, 8:51, you see Arthur and Micah look like their about to fight, whether that's verbally or physical. Right after Arthur says "Excuse me?" When Micah gets in his face, you see John, Charles, and Sadie behind Arthur start to get up and walk over, probably to join Arthur's side, stuff was about to go down before Eagle Flies showed up, it still gives me chills thinking that they could've had a huge fight there in that scene.
We have been on this journey with you Kaliwali😢 When all of this ended with Arthur for me I thought a bit.... Realized something metaphorical about how bad Dutch was with his relationships with women was how bad things he got with everyone. I feel like Molly was actually super big forshadowing and a mirror on how actually screwy Dutch was inside with his thoughts of people he was supposed to love. He kept putting his schemes above the person he was supposed to care about the most. By the end that spread to everyone.
Arthur's possible love interests/close friends were also reflective of his own internal struggles. If he had survived I would have wanted him to pick up a loving relationship with Sadie. I felt like they were truly having an understanding of each other. Plus, she really accepted Arthur on his multiple fronts. Could have healed both their internal pains in such a relationship.
You're spot on that Molly was a foreshadowing. She was totally devoted to Dutch, but after the "fun" falling in love part, he dropped her like she was nothing. Just like Dutch considered Arthur his son, up unto the point that he no longer needed him and then he just dropped him too. This mirroring of Molly and Arthur is even further brought home by both of them saying that they "gave everything" to Dutch. Molly in her poem and Arthur as his last words to Dutch. Maybe the item fetch quest of Molly being a "mirror" is also a subtle wink from the developers :p
"I gave you all I had". I didn't know Dutch said the same thing. I missed that scene from Dutch. Those words stopped Dutch in his tracks after Arthur said. Crazy how good Rockstar is good at doing that.
I've seen this ending so many times but watching throughout this playthrough, this hits the hardest. John's last words to Arthur were "You're my brother" and Arthur's last words to John were "I know, I know". The build up, the friction between the two, those two lines made me weep the most. What a great playthrough of Arthur's saga, enjoyed the entire ride.
Another excellent episode Kali 👏 and now you know why John's hatred of Bill, Javier and Dutch runs so deep in RDR1! Your takes on the invention of technology and information being at your finger tips are net negative for society are spot on. Going on where you were at life when FB and MySpace came about i'm a few years older than you, and i feel so greatful for having grown up having to go outside to connect with others and be face to face with people to communicate, and with information everywhere at your demand, like we have legends and tales of the past today, the generations of the future won't have legends of today because everything is researched and corrected instantly. If you think of an office block today, a story told on the bottom floor usually changes many times before it reaches the 12th floor. In days before the internet stories had to spread from one town to another and from one generation to another which solidified there legend. In today's age if anyone tries to put a legend slant on a story its shot down immediately. Looking forward to seeing you playing the epilogue and tying in the whole story of both RDR games. Much love, have fun and enjoy ❤ Also if you are planning a new game for after the epilogue is complete and you are 1 of many looking forward to GTA 6 which is the next big Rockstar slated release, i suggest a GTA 5 playthrough as this will tie in the physics and game play features from all Red Dead and GTA titles since GTA 4. As most long term Rockstar fans will know GTA and Red Dead games have had a very specific pattern since birth. There a strand of code from the original top down GTA that still runs through every game. That code is developed on each new game engine designed for a 3 game cycle to maximise the core code on each engine before a new one is designed. GTA, GTA London and GTA 2 were on the 1st engine, GTA 3, GTA VC and GTA SA were on the 2nd engine. Red Dead Revolver was the 1st game on the current engine and was effectively coined as 'GTA Wild West' with the same core strand of code as GTA. GTA 4 was the 1st GTA title on the current engine, this continued on development of physics and game play features such as Dead Eye, the Weapon Wheel, NPC interactions and more. Swapping releases between Red Dead and GTA titles has also allowed Rockstar to do cross testing of in development item on a current release, example alot of RDR2 weapons were tested in GTA Online before release. This along with the rapid development of the open world and storyline optionality make all the Rockstar games on the current engine an interesting development link chain, RDR > GTA 4 > RDR 1 > GTA 5 > RDR 2 > GTA 6. The early games where mainly physics, controls and in game features development and storylines were very linear. Where i think it may interest you is in the storyline optionality, story telling, game features development and Rockstar's always funny satire on events current to each games release. Where RDR 1 was a linear story, GTA 5 is the a bidirectional story and RDR 2 is a multidirectional story. Also GTA 5 is the bridge that gaps the difference in dead eye, the weapon wheel, npc interactivity and open world map size and some other things between the 2 Red Dead Redemption games. Given this if your looking forward to GTA 6 you can most likely expect it to be continued development of RDR 2. Hope this gives you some food for thought.
Good Morning Kali…I can’t believe that this series is over. These play throughs have been amazing and you did excellent by playing this game. Arthur Morgan will be one of my favorite characters since from the beginning of the game. That part at the end of Arthur looking at the sun still gets to me every time. You did amazing Kali and you look pretty. Keep up the great work that you are doing. You deserve it. Have a good day and enjoy your Sunday. 👍👍💯💯
Arthur Morgan is not only one of the best characters in games, but also one of the best characters in all art forms; truly an extraordinarily well-written character who is the heart of a tragically beautiful story. The writers evidently gave so much thought and care to his character and I'm so grateful to them for giving us one of the best protagonists I've ever seen in media. But Arthur would not have been complete without the acting and performance of Roger Clark. There was some exceptional display of talent in his work here, he truly brought Arthur to life in every way possible, it made it significantly more memorable and impactful and I can't laud his acting enough for that. Arthur Morgan will always hold a special place in my heart and losing him almost felt like losing someone I knew. I had to take a week's break after his death because I simply couldn't bring myself to play as John 'cause I missed Arthur too much. It almost felt like I was grieving him. With that said, I love John as well, and I'm looking forward to you playing the epilogue, it's so worth it. Also, I would strongly recommend reacting to a tribute video called *"Arthur"* by *Charles Liu* *AFTER* you've completed the epilogue. You'll love it, it's a beautifully made video, and honestly the best tribute video I have ever seen. Thank you for this wonderful playthrough (can't wait for the epilogue)!
''You're my brother..'' ''I know.. I know.'' 😞 Thank you! Kali for this playthrough experience, it was totally worth the time and the reactions up until this point, BUT! we're not through with the whole game yet ! 😅After you spend this enormous amount of time with a character as complex and as layered as Arthur, you begin to wonder if he's real or just like any fictional character in some game, that's what I like to say when I'd think about it. Anyways, you got a pretty much amount of time left and SOO many things that will be needed to be done still before it's finally over. So, I strongly recommend to be as thorough as you were in the main chapters ( it is worth it ) R* gave the players plenty of new room to explore in the Epilogue, complete whatever was unfinished because the map will be 100% opened at some point. It is really the last goodbye. As for John, he is a bit of a dummy in the Epilogue 😅but in a good way, and that's only because he's still learning a lot, as people who played RDR2 first and getting used to him like this, most almost wouldn't even recognize him after in RDR1, that's how much he changes over these years! Very excited to see you react to it. Take care ! 😊
thank you for being on this journey with me! i'm so happy we aren't done in this game just yet AND I get to play as John now!! 😱✨ i'm very excited to play John's chapters in this beautiful world!!
Arthur’s reply “I know, I know” is so reminiscent of [SPOILER for Return of the Jedi] Han Solo replying to Leia in Return of the Jedi when she confesses her love to Han “I love you” and rather than saying “I love you too”, “I know” suits the occasion way more and less cheesy but more grounded imo 🤧.
*We learnt so much from a man who never existed*
R.I.P Arthur Morgan.
"You Sir, are a fish."
"What's this!?...swamp trash!?"
To be free and flourish
_Arthurs death is very deep_
That last ride back to camp kills me every time. Masterful storytelling.
@@gergopahollo Then there's me whose horse died like 8 times throughout my Arthur playthrough 💀
Outstanding playthrough...horse always gets me...when you think your done with rdr2 then you realize 40% of the map is yet to be unlocked
26:05 "Your whole life, sir. You have followed the wrong star." - Blind Man Cassidy
Genuinely my favorite playthrough on RUclips! Your series has been an absolute joy to watch!
"This whole thing is pretty much done. We're more ghosts than people" Arthur Morgan
One of my favorite quotes from the game
“We are going to San Andreas work a 9 to 5 and hopefully nobody robs us, we are going to make it!!!!!!!"- Dutch Van Der Linde
I know you thought that the end of Arthur would be the end of the game, but that epilogue is a rather big chunk still to go through :)
And it's some of the most wholesome gaming that exists. It is NOT a simple add on. This epilogue is just as stunning in story and content as all 6 other chapters.
Make sure to take your time and explore! Go back to all the places you've been with Arthur to dig up some nice memories. (I'm sure you're mods can nudge you towards all the nice things still to see.) There is also a massive new part of the map that you'll be able to explore now, though you already know most of it ;)
Though I really hope that after the insane load of emotional content you've given us these last weeks, you'll also do some more wholesome and comedic content too, because you deserve it after this!
thank you SO MUCH for this thoughtful comment & for enjoying this journey alongside me 💚
very excited to jump into the epilogue next!
@@kaliwali
Please react to all endings when you complete the rest of the game.
It kills me every time Tilly says "Ill...I'll miss..." and Arthur cuts her off and says "Me too, sweetheart, me too.".
He was the only real father figure she'd ever had.
I think the epilogue is just as good as the main chapters
Against any and every expectation, it's one of the best and most rewarding parts of the game, and even brings some truly joyful tears. (Of course you really should play RDR1 first if you want to get the full reward of what they do in the Epilogue).
I actually kinda like it more than the main game, ngl... mainly because I'm more of a John fan than an Arthur fan.
@@maximillianosaben I agree completely
i really do enjoy both, but sometimes it comes down to if i want to play as someone who knows how to swim or not xD but the detail is amazing when you compare how each character is. different weapon draw animation, walk, run. a whole new character
2 hour video of Red Dead on my birthday today let’s go.
happy birthday! ✨
@kaliwali thank you
Oh, snap. It's my birthday, too. We November 24th bros.
@peterwyatt3838 happy birthday
Happy B-Day!
Well, Arthur saying insist suggests he is using his own will, telling Dutch something to do, insisting upon it, rather than following Dutch's orders
I love how it goes from really dark and heavy in chapter 6 to much lighter in the epilogue. Let's the player enjoy being in the world again
Well said, Epilogue is such a nice cooldown change of pace compared to Chapter 6 👍🏽.
The mission title "The Wheel" says it all.
So a big thank you to all that you do, once again
Also I don't blame you for all the tears at Epona's death. I only had my main horse for about half the game, and even still losing him at the end, and Arthur's "Thank You" as he passed, wrecked me. Let alone you who have had Epona since literally episode 1 or 2
Very very excited for the Epilogue! Been missing the days of you running around as John in RDR1. Good times ahead!
the final moment between charles and arthur breaks my heart
💯, think it’s the only time I remember in game aside from Mickey that Arthur has ever got a Hug 🤧.
arthur hugs charles when he comes back from guarma as well
@@noahtoftegaard Totally forgot that Hug haha, thanks for the reminder! Still though, only Mickey & Charles the ones to hug Arthur :/.
@@Auth0R_M0RGaN Sonny too. More than a hug for sure. Well, only if you enter his house.

Ben Davis, the performance capture for Dutch, said that in one of his runs through that last “I gave you all I had” scene he walked up the ramp and turned his back on the others and just bawled for a minute
when they say it's just a video game..
He’s real because we as the player MAKE him real. I believe that’s why this game hits so hard. You mold Arthur into what you want him to be
So about his legacy living on through john...
I had it spoiled that the main protagonist won't be shown in red dead 1.
@@SOM-v4o I played rd1 first so I didn't even know Arthur existed till after
"People die.
Also, if you are like me and can't stand John with short hair (lol), you can recreate John's hair and facial hair from RDR 1 (or get as close as possible to it) by following these steps:
Hair:
- Right parted, level 5 (level 6 also works, altough it's a bit longer than his RDR 1 hair and resembles his RDR 2 1899 NPC hair more).
Facial hair:
- Dundreary sideburns level 2.
- Chin (natural) level 1.
- Pencil mustache level 2.
I looooove this breakdown of how to get John to look more like himself from RDR1. gonna follow it! thank you :)
One can see many reasons why you're a top tier youtuber. The piano version of "that's the way it is" in the intro is a very well thought idea
Dutch to Arthur after the horse race..."I was going to say your like a son to me, but you're more than that"
1:34:02 love the little detail here showing that despite just how sick Arthur is, he's still quicker on the draw than Micah
Cats being comforting when people are upset is always the cutest thing in the world
I hope there was someone home to give you a big hug after you stopped recording 💚, I remember feeling sad for an entire day after Arhur's death, I didn't feel like playing the epilogue,it took me an entire week before being ready to resume playing.
Even after all these years, it still gets me
Hi Kali, You did well and the edit was amazing. 😢😭👍🏽
Absolutely love your playthrough of this game, can't wait to see more epilogue playthrough.
Really enjoyed your playthrough, Kali. Looking forward to your final videos. This game is a masterpiece.
RIP Arthur
RIP Epona
Epona just riding right up into Cornwall Kerosene and Tar. Skittish the entire game and runs right into a fight with the Army. He was a good boah right up til the end.
Super excited to see you play through the epilogue. I can promise you one thing. It will heal many wounds. And although I played RDR1 first, and loved John, and then played RDR2 and loved Arthur more, and was initially bummed about playing Arthur... and then bummed about playing as John again... lol. It's so worth it.
“Bye Charlotte!” I say the exact same thing when I’m on the train passing Charlotte’s house.
You know come to think of it, what would've gone through her head had she known the man who saved her life is on that train firing a Gatling gun near her house killing the law 😅
What a thing to find out, if only she knew 😅
The epilogue is a healing chapter for me, after losing Arthur, this was healing
For All those who have died in our gang , nothing was more painful than losing your faithful 🐎
Look up on here Arthur's last ride - low honour version, the song played is the same but remixed and is so much more haunting
It's so heartbreaking when Arthur takes the moment to comfort his horse with a pat and "whoa" and "thank you".
First time I’ve seen someone keep Arthur at average/normal weight all the way until his death. Feels strange seeing him like that in those end scenes and not skinny
Think it was last episode or one before that, Kali showed Arthur was “overweight”, never seen that before haha.
Arthur loved his gator meat, coffee & candy in this one ☕️🤣
@@Auth0R_M0RGaN I’ve had him overweight in chapter 2 before and there’s actually a big difference in his appearance
@@KanoSJ Yeah, I get the visual difference when Arthur is overweight but game did say he was overweight despite him still looking “normal”.
Anyway when you said at the end play abit with John, (so it can not be a spoiler) i wanted to say this imagine Arthur's voice saying this to you: "Kali..It ain't over untill the fat lady sings…well i leave you to it then"
👍🏽😇
The dialogue writing for this game is awesome, even some throwaway lines are perfect. Two of my favourites from the final mission.
When the train is flying by, Arthur 'should I just sneak on now?'
And Micah on Arthur returning to camp 'Black Lung you're back, Hooray'
That last *line from Micah always makes me appreciate how funny he actually is, next to Arthur, Micah has some of the best one liners in the game 😄.
“Just like old times, huh?”
“This don’t feel nothing like the old times!”
That was epic and you did amazing Kelly I loved every second of it we have been on one hell of a ride I can't wait to see the rest of your rdr2 journey ight I hope you are having a epic and blessed night 🌙 ❤❤❤100
One of my favourite moments in the game, that brief music as Arthur, Sadie and Charles ride down to the Oil Factory with the Native Americans.
kali thank you so much for such a wonderful, thoughtful, in-depth, and heartfelt play through. while i am excited to see you play through the epilogue i've so enjoyed watch you play through the main story, it was almost like playing through it for the first time. the game really is a life changer. i know it changed me. thanks again, and i can't wait for more whether it be more read dead, a reaction video or anything else. you are amazing!
Truly the perfect prequel
Arthur was given time.
Greatest protagonist of all time
I have watched Arthur's death more than 10 times through different gamers' gameplay, every time tears come automatically without fail, even though till now I haven’t played this game by myself.
By far my favorite playthrough of this game! Thank you so much, Kali! 😊
Sorry about Elpona, he was a good horse , may he rest in peace in horse heaven with an unlimited supply of carrots and apples 🥕🍎
There is still much to do in this game with John so you could also take a break if you need it. The story still goes on quite a bit but you almost made it.
Thanks for the great playthough eventhough I missed most of the middle part due to not having enough time over the summer.
Lookling forward to whatever you are playing next
Losing Epona was so sad.. 😮💨😞
I am really excited to see this world through John now though! I'm so excited that I can have more time exploring in this game in my favorite character's shoes now! 😱✨
RIP Arthur…
I havent seen too many say this but since youre a big fan of God of War too i think there are alot of similarities between Arthur and Kratos.
I think he just didn’t care about him
you are a good man Arthur Morgan, we will always remember you 😔❤️
Arthur Morgan, the best character I’ve ever seen in a videogame ♥️🤠
I just realized watching this video that he's saying goodbye to Tilly , Jack Sadie, Abigail and John.
you still have SO MUCH to find out in the world dont stop exploring!
Wow what an adventure! Thanks for taking us along
Btw, please don’t forget to read all Newspapers you missed out from Arthur’s time and also any newer ones too 👍🏽☺️.
In the valley of outlaws, where the wild winds roam,
Stood a man named Arthur, far from hearth and home.
A rider on the tempest, with steel in his eyes,
A heart worn by sorrow, and a soul full of lies.
He rode with the gang, with Dutch by his side,
In search of a freedom where dreams could abide.
But the years turned cruel, and the paths grew thin,
As the shadows of choices crept under his skin.
With a cough that cut deep, like a blade in the night,
The reaper drew close, taking life from his sight.
He stared at the sky, saw the end drawing near,
And faced down his demons with a heart full of fear.
Yet in his last days, something changed in his mind,
A yearning for peace, for a life left behind.
He saw through the chaos, the lies, and the gold,
And found in his heart, a story untold.
A friend to the lost, a savior to John,
He set forth a path for a new day's dawn.
With his gun in his hand, and a smile bittersweet,
He rode to the end, where fate and honor meet.
In the light of the morning, as the world turned to gray,
Arthur laid down his life as the shadows gave way.
His spirit now free, like the wind on the plain,
A legend, a man, who found peace in the pain.
For Arthur Morgan, who lived wild and fast,
Found redemption and love, in the end, at last.
A hero to some, a sinner to most,
Now rides with the sunset, a wandering ghost.
1:29:45 Arthur's last ride is probably my favorit gaming experience.
That and Kratos hugging Atreus.
Both killed me
Kratos reciting what Brok said about “the nature of the thing” and then Brok blessing the Draupnir is my all time fave GOW moment 🤧😭.
There are actually two different dialogues with Swanson, one with low honor Arthur and one with a mid level. Pretty amazing.
"I gave you all I had". I didn't know Dutch said the same thing. I missed that scene from Dutch. Those words stopped Dutch in his tracks after Arthur said. Crazy how good Rockstar is good at doing that.
1:24:03 JUSTICE FOR MOLLY ☘️
OOOH DOOTCH VAN DER LINDE
Molly killed herself. She just thought Dutch would do it
Molly redemption tour!
Much love, have fun and enjoy ❤
Also if you are planning a new game for after the epilogue is complete and you are 1 of many looking forward to GTA 6 which is the next big Rockstar slated release, i suggest a GTA 5 playthrough as this will tie in the physics and game play features from all Red Dead and GTA titles since GTA 4.
The epilogue is my favorite part of the game. Just the perfect denouement after that cathartic climax.
this is heartbreaking, I loved Arthur Morgan
6:40 I love the detail in Karen's hair. She used to have curls, but now she doesn't care anymore.
Can't believe i'm late for Arthur's last ride... Still remains my fav fictional character of all time!!
That "Epona" at 1:39:45 broke me
RIP Epona. And Hunter. 🥀
''You're my brother..''
''I know.. I know.'' 😞
Thank you!
i'm very excited to play John's chapters in this beautiful world!!
First time i activated notifications for a video in a long time. wanted to be here minute 1.
You are a good man Mr. Morgan!
