As successful the movie was, you can tell it took a toll on Diane after the fact of making the film, which was a bit traumatic, but she nailed it she will always be one my top actresses.

Enjoyed this movie immensely but I wouldn't call it a thriller like others make it out to be. It's more of a dark heavy drama with some sadness added

Love this movie!! And, the actors are superb! I still watch it once in awhile. The music playing when Connie is in the bathtub is SO sensual. I listen to the soundtrack as well periodically. I feel such sadness for all the characters.

I absolutely love watching interviews from before social media...I'm from that time. I am so grateful that I'm able to think, oh can I find "the making of unfaithful or dirty dancing or Boyz in the hood." I'm so grateful. They'll never even know what that means. Crazy! !!!

But truly Diane Lane is a great actor and I don't take nothing away from her performance. She's really good at her craft. But I have to take issue with this movie Adrian directed it just had so many holes in the story and what kept this movie afloat was Diane Lane. Sometimes directors think they're making art but sometimes it's just not. To have a feel of a relationship that wasn't toxic that was very loving very caring of each other. All of a sudden a chance meeting just through all caution to the wind. As Connie Sumner went out to play with her boy toy then come back to her home base of her husband and family. That is the true meaning of selfishness. Why not just be honest and just leave your husband and child and go and do your thing with Paul Martell and then just stay away no one is truly damaged there will be pain but you have in the long run you would be respected for your honesty to just leave. Then rather than staying wrecking people's lives your husband and your son. All that selfish stuff that people do. I know hate is and people say that is strong word but if you can take a stranger who you've known maybe a few days over a man that you've been with over 11 years and throw it away like it's nothing what is that truly say about that person? Things only happen when people allow them to happen let's not get that point lost. I also did a little bit more research that there are various reasons why people do cheat even in a good relationship. Wouldn't it be easier for the person to just leave their current relationship and go and be with the person that they're cheating with less people will be hurt. You cannot stop people from doing what they want to do but go away and do what you got to do and leave your current situation. Then show me how brave you are. You can always do self-discovery alone without getting your family and husband involved or wife.

@Norman I agree. I also think that this interview was bullshit. The guy asked some good questions and then about when Diane Lane’s character gets jealous about her lover being with another woman. Lane says “She was vulnerable…” blah blah. Vulnerable??? You have got to be kidding me. She was bored and horny and had sex with another man and then she got jealous. If this movie is supposed to be so bold then go all the way with it is my point. The people involved with the movie are trying to be so edgy and bold and whatever, but then when asked a tough question, we still get the Mary Sue answer? That’s bullshit.

@@robert4039 I hear you on your statement when you say what Diane Lane didn't say doing an interview. But you have to remember that was not her vision of this movie she was just the actress asked to play the part it was not her thinking of this character she was portraying this character the way the director wanted her. To portray her so I don't know how deep she could get with the directors mindset or instructions more so if it was her own idea see what I'm saying. It was probably not her idea it was Adrian's idea the director.

I don't know what your point is, this was a great. Definitely in my top 5 of all time. The storyline is very realistic and great throughout. The only problem was the was too short. They should have made it into 2 movies. Scenes were a bit rushed, I would have loved to see more details (not the sex scenes) but more scenes should have been added or longer scenes. You said don't cheat but rather leave husband and do it I guess morally but she said she was vulnerable in this movie and it is so realistic for humans to act like she or they did in this movie. Everyone was acting on the spot without much thought into it of course there are emotions and feelings afterward. Overall story, characters and acting was genius in this movie except that it was too short. I want to see unfaithful 2 where Diane is pregnant with Martel's baby and they live in Mexico. The ending was a bit rushed and incomplete. Olivier M is A+ actor.

@@axxis402 Sure, you are right about that as far as the vision of the director and Diane Lane's portrayal of the character. I reiterate though that the interview could have been more forthcoming about what the character was doing and feeling. Meaning a portrayal of a "modern woman" making sexual choices that go against the usual commentary about women cheating only because they aren't being fulfilled in their current relationship.
I thought it would have been really cool to go all the way and say "yes, women will cheat just like men just for the pleasure and sexual gratification of it, even if they are in a healthy and fulfilling relationship at home.". To me that's the spicy part! So to say that in the interview would have completed the edginess in the face of the taboo about women in that regard. I'm not knocking the movie or Diane Lane. Does that make sense?

Many women married to older men become dissatisfied, especially sexually. It’s cool when the man is reasonably young, but as he gets into his 50s, he’s no longer just older, but OLD, and the woman is in her prime, and seeing men her own age, or even younger.I read an article that said that women actually get bored of sex with the same person sooner than men do.

The son, Charlie - he was the one most vulnerable. What scars he carries, only time would tell.
Edward was emotionally vulnerable and he killed a man, something he had no intention of doing but on seeing the snow globe with the hidden message for his wife by Paul’s bedside, went into a fit of rage! Was it because of his love for Connie or was it because of hurt of broken trust ?
Still trying to figure out how Connie was vulnerable. She is holding the book given by Paul as late as when the police came to her house the first time. Wonder if she was reading literature or thinking of all the exciting afternoons and was going to give Paul a call. Is that the definition of vulnerability????
A beautiful and good actor, Ms Lane, will always be remembered by this movie, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. I wish Ms Lane had been offered better and well thought out scripts to showcase her true talent. Pity she made the genre of an “unfaithful wife and uncaring mother “ her own by such a convincing portrayal. A Walk on the Moon being the other movie of the same genre.

HOW? Connie was vulnerable because of how much power Paul had over her emotionally and sexually. She allowed herself to go to emotional places she had perhaps never allowed herself before.

@@theprousteffect9717she made herself vulnerable, that’s no excuse. it’s called being a horrible person, the husband lashed out and killed Paul because, he was vulnerable seeing the object of his love to his wife carelessly given to another, when he’s done right by her always and tried to make sure his wife and kid has the best life I also feel for the son.

The poster behind Diane Lane is hilarious! Trust Adrian Lyne. Guess Connie is listening to Paul’s growling stomach and trying to induce a release 😂😂😂😂!
Cheap wine at the party at home? OR something more exciting so much so Connie forgot about her son! And we are talking about “vulnerability “ !!??!!

Well. If only Dian's character had a job - I would have sympathised her.
But as I see it - she was just bored as any woman who got stuck in life after giving a birth. Men think a woman is happy just to be "a wife", spending her time washing the dishes and all that. Well... her character obviously was bored enough and had the reasons to get into some kind of "exciting relations".
None of this would have happened if she had some other staff to think about. I mean - I understand the character. But it's a blank story.
Imagine somebody working hard every day, having to deal with both son, husband and work. And then suddenly someone touched her knee... I bet a woman would be like: "Thanks. But my lunch is over. Need to run" =))
Thats why I like "Kramer vs Kramer" so much. Meryl Streep's character had a clear understanding that she was unhappy with homestuck position.
Anyway mrs Laine is amazing here and very attractive!

Odd and disturbing that her big takeaway from the character she played was how “vulnerable” she was. That’s some Olympic-level mental gymnastics considering her character was cheating on her husband and destroying their family. More accurate to say her character was selfish, immature and lacked ethics.
I have to stop watching interviews with actors because it ruins their movies for me. Hollyweird.
