Stick the edge of your tape to whatever you want to mask, then bend half of it up so one side doesn’t stick to the wall. Then take the edge of your plastic and bring it up to your tape and stick it. Or you can get a 3M masking tool that will make it wayyyy easier

Great video, thanks! If I’m going to open holes in drywall for electrical work, should the holes be as small as possible to keep the patches small? Or should I aim for stud edges to have a nice solid edge for the patch to screw onto? Any special tips for drywall repairs that run up to the corner of the wall/ceiling?
Mesh tape is garbage, it's proven to be the weakest tape out of paper tape, fibafuse, and mesh. Mesh is for plastering it was never intended for drywall. The way you use mesh tape is the same as laying rebar or concrete mesh directly on the ground, which is never right. You want a bed of mud behind it, not just sitting on top. Just use fibafuse on texture repairs. And before you say "I've never had any issues with it" none that you know about or at least an issue will arise sooner than that of fibafuse or good old paper tape
Will you do a video showing how to set up the plastic? That is the hardest part for me.
